Is the plane H9 Sundowner F1? There is a video at youtube about smaller 50 sundowner flying with syssa 180 gasoline engine, but it just isn't enough for bigger version.

80" fun fly? You will need 50cc if that's wingspan.

24x8 Bambula, Xoar or Menz. If you prefer carbon props use 24x10 cause they like to spool a bit more than woods.

RE: I'm off to Hong Hong - where can I buy a gas engine?
ORIGINAL: jimcork1 Perhaps your right you can just throw it in the suitcase. I think that is called smuggling and very illegal if it isn't declared. IMO it is way too high a risk and I would prefer to ask first on arrival. When a guest in a foreign country I consider myself a guest and conduct myself as a guest appropriately. I have traveled to over 38 countries and lived around the world and for me I would never take that risk. RE: I'm off to Hong Hong - where can I buy a gas engine?
If you get good deal why not buy? Just put engine to cargo bay luggage and everything is fine. I have heard that DL engines go for 150$ at mainland China if you are chinise. They usually double prices for foreigners in every store anyway. Haggle, haggle and haggle or if you know locals, it's easier to get great prices. Listprice in China is usually just a point to start haggling. Offering a third of that should be your first move.

RE: Why we don't see pattern planes for gas?
I have been flying MVVS 26 + pipe in a 2x2 stunt for a while and I am also looking for a little more punch. DL30 seems to have around 3hp without pipe so not much more power without pipe(MSS with pipe has a bit more actually). Side carb is big no no. Syssa seems to be nice rear carb, rear exhaust engine, but there are so few user reports that I will wait for those. Generally all these engines need a pipe and modern pattern planes don't come with pipe tunnels anymore. They are designed for short Hatori headers and that's it. I hope YS announces 200 CDI gasser soon :)
ORIGINAL: mark43 Does anyone know if an Evolution 58 will fly a 33% Exta 260 ? Will it 3-D ?
NO, 33% extras are usually run with 100cc boxer or 80cc single. 33% extra 260 is about 95" wingspan.
ORIGINAL: jaka Hi! Over here in Sweden we use 95 oktan gas with 10% methanol added in our cars. Same fuel works perfect in MVVS gassers.
E85 has ethanol, not methanol. Just get Jonsered 2-stroke gasoline for small gassers. We have been using similar Neste Futura 2-store for small gasoline engines petrol with good results here in Finland. - less smell - clean engine - ready to use(full synth bio degradable 2% oil) - small emissions

RE: What is the real story from Portugal?
USA competitors not in podium -> bad judging/European judges -> we lost because of bad judging, but we were still the best fliers-> cry in RCU USA competitors in podium -> judging was fine -> we won because we were best -> tons of GO USA post in RCU I don't think you can even say there are such group as European judges. European countries differ a lot from each other and there are always competition between EU countries. Hell we have even had two world wars in past 100 years. Well because 2011 WC is in USA you can celebrate USA team victory now, because WC is never a fair game. Hell we can even name the winners here and skip the actual competition and save everybody's travel money. Start making "Winners of WC 2011" baseball caps now...

RE: Evolution 26GX Owners Rate This Engine!!
1. Easy to start 2. I guess new 26 uses 2s lipo, ignition is not battyry hungry(I have old Vlach in 26 and new ICU in 58) 3. 300ml tank is enough for 20 minutes 4. With standard muffler more power than most same class engines, with pipe -> superb 5. No problems so far 6. If cooling is not taken seriously, using wrong oil, etc can lead to problems. I cant see any major potential problems with this engine.

RE: MVVS 58cc problem
How is your Hall-sensor installed? Both washers usually have to be on the topside to make the gap small as possible. Just came out of field flying MVVS 58, Xoar 24x10, MTW RE2 pipe and DIY MTW header kit in EF Extra 88". Could not be happier how the motor is working. It's still under break-in, but I have had zero deadsticks, automatic choke is working fine and vibration is minimal. Few liters more and I can switch to 2% fuel.

RE: Best 26cc Engine
If you have seen the video of qq yak with evolution 26 equipped with canister, you can fairly say that there is a little shortage of power. With pipe evolution/mvvs should do it easily. I have MVVS(Evolution) in my 5kg Epsilon stunt with modded pipe and carb and it's swinging 16x12 8600rpm. If you cant install pipe, I suggest that you take a look for this new syssa engine.

Then I have to suspect air leak. Check that carb bolts are tight enough and change the hose that runs from carb foot to engine chamber. If that doesn't help I would open the carb and check diaphragms.

RE: MVVS 58cc problem
You should get around 6000-6500 rpm depending how the canister works. You just have to adjust the needles right. Check manual from mvvs.cz for factory settings, but basic settings are highly dependable of the muffler used.

RE: Webra gasoline engines
Yeah, they are gasoline engines. They have been on market like 2 years and there haven't been so many praising comments about them. Problem seems to be the almost standard RC-carb which is pain to get working with gasoline engine. I don't know why they didn't go to Walbro way like other manufacturers. One of the fliers in our field fiddled a lot with 160 version, but later decided to replace it with G26. The engine was used in helicopter if it matters.
