RE: YF-23
ORIGINAL: Pyolet Best wishes on the endeavor David. I gave up on my Bertolli plan built YF-23 7 years ago upon seeing that the planked outline did not look very scale, and it sits in the corner gathering dust and dings. Anxiously watching for your progress and will be at the top of the list once the large deluxe kit/arf version develops. Agree 100% with your thoughts that the single turbine concept will prevail with buyers. Simplicity reigns supreme, especially with such an aerodynamically tricky subject. The experts out there can always plug two engines into a kit designed around a single. Please kindly keep the inquiring minds knowing with a progress thread on your models' development. Aloha, Woody.
Hi, Do you have pictures of your completed model? Thanks

RE: We will offer 10 free ones 90mm Electric Ducted Fan Unit tests samples.
Thanks Kev, Off topic here- I am just finishing up an HET F-18, what a beauty. It has inspired me to go further, and you deserve the credit. Anyway, to the subject at hand, my other choice w/ batteries on hand is 6 in series.. have any suggestions?
Thanks Bill, I would be jumping the gun here as I don't know what type of load the fan will be. The key is going to be getting the input power where you want it and making sure that the motor, battery, and controller are sized correctly. The 600-1000 input watts is assuming it is just a efficient as some of the other 90mm units.

RE: We will offer 10 free ones 90mm Electric Ducted Fan Unit tests samples.
ORIGINAL: BadBill I received the unit today, looks great! May the money spending commence! Looks to be a REAL tight fit between rotor and housing, I don't have a motor yet ( I plan to use a HiMax 3618-4500 ) so I can't tell for sure, but if it clears when mounted on the shaft I will be surprised. Tenative plan is to build a Bob-E Cat 45" span for it, with 3 cell 6000 lipos.
Hi Bill, I'm still waiting for mine but from the pictures it looks good. I'm curious about weight and outside diameter as that will determine if I need to modify a model. 3S for a Bob-E might be a bit under powered. It appears to about a 16cells/5S model (600-1000+watts). Good luck!

Sounds like you had a great time John! nmacwarbirds...Sounds like you need to step away from the PC for awhile :D. You came off quite harsh. Doug simply made a comment and was not calling the Typhoon inferior.

I'm interested in it too. Here is my latest 90mm model but it would take two to fly it :) But I have a single fan model too.

RE: Jet Flying around St. Louis
Well, I can't speak for any constant turbine action. I think a couple of guys have a secret flying area :D. The only other field that may have it is St. Louis Radio Control Flying Association, known as SLRCFA or SLRC. http://www.slrcfa.com/ Also don't forget to stop by the Boeing Gift shop :D Here are a couple of hobby shops: http://www.schaeferhobby.com/default.asp http://www.hobby1.com/
