RE: DA 100 or 120?
The DA-120 is the way to go. Once you have this much $$$ in planes this large whats a couple extra hun. I got mine last Oct and put it in the Aeroworks Yak-54. By far the best combo I have ever owned of all the 15 planes now in the hanger, including my Big Warbirds. The power and transition right out of the box is incredible, can wait till it's fully broken in.

RE: Who invented monocoat?
Gota love it. I started this post 4-5 years ago. Since then must have finished another half dozen planes in monocoat. Moved into large gas 100cc stuff (Aeroworks) and havent built much in a few years. Just started a UltraSport 1000 that Ive been saving so I guess the old iron and heat gun will go back to work. Kinda forgot how fun building is, and how less expensive then the big IMAC birds! Wife will love the savings (gives me more funds for cigars). Let the snow and balsa dust fly!!

RE: Big Vs. Smaller Edge 540/ Extra 300
Man this sounds familiar! I was into 1/4 scale warbirds big time and just got completely burned out on the whole setup retracts, flaps , heavy wingloading etc. Heres what I did, Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc with a ZDZ 80 and to get my thumbs working a electric Precision Acrobatics Extra 260. I love the small electric and frankly it flys like a much larger plane and great to practice on. Today just got my flatt spins down on the big Extra and talk about no brainer landings, just set up on short final and let it float in. Take a look at Aeroworks they make great stuff and also have sizes to fit all check books. Im sure the warbirds will bit again and my Skyshark P40 is all ready for maiden but for now it's all flips and flops for me, power out of anything and knife edge as long as you want!

RE: Aeroworks 96" Extra 260 ARF QB Assembly
Thanks guys, Sounds like a common issue with this specific product. Yes I could use pliers to get on/off just wonder why at $10 a pop they arent machined correctly to easily go on and then double secure with the spindal srew and locking bolt. The small Blue Alumn arms that come with the servo are machined to easily slip on the spindal. A friend of mne got his from MPI and they are precision machined to mate the spindal. I think I will ask Don for a refund and go another route.

RE: Aeroworks 96" Extra 260 ARF QB Assembly
Guys, Can you give me a few ideas for great quality aftermarket alumn servo arms for Hitec? I bought 4 from Don's Hobby at $10 a pop but they are have a very poor cut to fit on the servo without pushing them on under a great load and then they are impossible to get off w/o prying. I would think that someone makes a well machined arm that fits on easily and has both the hold down set screw and a bolt clamp as well. Any suggestions Thx

Guys, I followed this thread with interest! I have built the AT6 TF kit twice and have a NIB Hollywood addition AT6 Kit from TF as well. This is one of the best flying warbirds ever IMO. Joe-I now live in Bay City MI and we fly at the Middle Grounds, great grass runway. Come see us when you get the AT6 finished and want to fly. Cheers, Kirk

Guy's I ordered one on the evening of 12/18 and got an auto confirmation back that the order was accepted but no verification of shipment yet. Will see, if they are out then I wll be buying the Aeroworks Pitt Python so will wait and see. After doing some research looks like the Area 51 50cc would be a great match and much better price than the DA's. I love my DA's but they are almost at the point of being overpriced vs other good alternatives.

I have the TF 1/5 P-51B that I built with the Rev 52 and fan. Only about 10 flights or so but as yet np problem. I did have my ignition go out and replaced it with a better after market version. Engine runs fine but it is tough to start. I always wondered about the fan unit as it looks like cast alumn. and frankly cheaply made IMO. Will keep an eye on it! thx

RE: Which engine for TF GS P-47
I have a older ZDZ 80 in mine. Fits great and plenty of power. This is a big bird and lets be honest not all that clean, a little extra power wont hurt. It also allows you to add structural weight in a few places that need it, such as the retract mount/ribs

Skyshark P-40 sans wing
This may best be in the crash Forum but just a heads up to the Skyshark P-40 owners. My wing dowels sheared at the wing after an easy split S and fly by. When I assembled the ARF I reinforced the wing LE after reading about the dowels pulling out but mine just sheared right off even with the wing. The wing parted off like it was hit by flak and the fuse flew and then dived into a lawn dart. Note the pilot bust in the upper left hand corner. No damage to the DA 50 or the Sierra retracts and very little to the wing as it just fluttered down. Check those dowels. The folks (Angie) at Skyshark were very accomidating to the crash and handled the situation with the superior level of customer service that they are known for. Hopefully the new one will be back in the air in a month or so with carbon fiber dowels!!!

RE: should I grab this plane?
Looks nice but dont you have gear doors for that P-47? Even just the outer doors really add to the warbird look and help hide the tiny wheels that these ARF's have. Good luck on your maiden!

RE: should I grab this plane?
People are learning to fly via Sims at warp-speed. We had a new member join the club a few weeks ago, spend over $1000 on a trainer, nice radio all the ground support etc etc. First flight on the buddy box he couldnt make a single turn, after 1 week on the Sim (G4) he came back and soloed. The flying part of the learning curve is a fraction of what it was when many of us started 20 years ago. What takes awhile is to learn all the neuances of checking systems, connects, batteries and on and on. I watch many new great flyers re-kit planes because they didnt know/take time to listen and learn the little things, (you mean I cant cut and knott the antenna, I should of lock-tited what?) I dont doubt a bit that 737 can fly the kyosho, thats a baby warbird kinda like the Hanger 9 smaller stuff, PT-51 and the like. 737-buy (or make) a real warbird that you can be proud of, many are for sale here on RCU. I have a 1/4 scale P-40 with a DA 50, Digital servos, power mngt system and Sierra gear that can be had for $3500, buy it, put it in the air and post the video and let them eat cake. KirkRC

TF 1/5 P-51B First Flight
Well after a 2 year build (Im slow) I maidened my TF P-51B "Ina the Macon Belle" Flew great with a Revolution 50 swinging a 23/8 prop. Robart retracts with Sierra after market alumn cams and robart scale wheels. Balanced per instructions and stable as a rock through out the entire flight, no pitch change with flaps and settles right down for landing. The engine has the fan unit and mixed at 32 to 1 with no over heating issues at all. I would expect the engine to have more power after a few more flights, leaned out and mix at 50 to 1 but for now OK power. Have a look

Taurus Wing Kit
Guys, I have a NIB Taurus wing kit my Father-in law had. He gave me this wing kit about 20 years ago along with a NIB complete kit which I built as my 3 RC plane. Where would I find the Fus and Stab to complete the model? Do you know of anyone who cuts these parts? I would like to have a Taurus again with my Futaba Gold Radio. Something different than the 1/5 WW11 stuff I do now. Any thoughts

RE: ? about mounting retracts on TF GS P-51D
Terrell, Use 6 hex screws. The Middle screw on the inboard side may need to be cut shorter so it doesnt rub into the retract air cylinder.

RE: ? about mounting retracts on TF GS P-51D
I have the 6x1/2 Hex heads in my 1/5 P-51 and P-47 no problems. Reinforce the holes with some CA and they wont go anywhere unless you really slam in a landing and most likely your mounts will break before the screws pull out. Kirk
