RE: C-119 Flying Boxcar ARF
I hate to see you give up with the C-119. Like Bob, mine is still in the box, waiting for this winter’s projects. If the 4- strokes are reliable, my thought is “go-for it! With the lower RPM of the 4 strokes, you should be about right for power. I don’t worry much about weight, if it is balanced, it will fly. I have done quite a few of these arfs. They are well constructed, but you always have to hack something. Landing gear and push rods, almost always need to be replaced with better metal. A sharp “Z bend will usually break the push rods. Not real thrilled with the plastic, but I guess you have to expect that, for the price. I have had good, and bad luck, with smaller twins, and the problem always seems to be the small fuel tanks. Last nightmare with engines, I tried everything, including fuel pumps. Might have worked, with the engines laid on the side, but after the fourth wreck, it hit the garbage. Electric ( brush-less motors, and lipo’s ) is the only way to go with a small twin. You might give that a thought -- no dead engine nightmares - Your offer to sell, is tempting, but I don’t have room for the one I bought. Go for it!

RE: My PBM project
Looks Good ! Wish mine was that far along, and had a place to hang it. The reason mine is in a pile in the corner of the shop, I stacked The pieces, and realized there was no place to put it. Will get back to it this winter. We have a nice reservoir close to the landing strip. With the Spectrum radios, the conflict between the two is gone. Time to get wet!

Bobby, Can you let us know what she weighs ready to fly? ( the C-119 ) I think lust is about to get me - Did a few jumps from these things - At a cross road - fuel -or electric Have a couple motors that will pull 32 ounces of thrust, and also a pair of .25 2 strokes. LEM

Todd, I ordered the Perry Fuel Regulators for my other project. Not the shaker pumps. To date, haven’t seen directions for either. ( don’t have a place for the shaker ) About the shaker pumps. You stated they didn’t work mounted vertical. Will they work, mounted under the engine crankcase, parallel to the crankshaft, or do they require mounting, behind the engine, in line with the crankshaft? Thanks, Larry PS Good Luck with the first flight. Don’t rush it! I expect at least three dry runs to the field with a new plane. Always find something I over looked ---

RE: Nitro Planes P-38 Electric
Bill, Still in the works. Don’t think my radios will do a mix with the throttles and rudder, but did find something in the helicopter mode. I have never tried to fly a plane in the helicopter mode. Who knows? Just might work - Picked up a “V Tail mixer, and will try it. One lead into the throttle, one into the rudder on the receiver. Other ends to each controller, and one with a “Y to the front wheel. ( plane doesn’t have rudder) The idea is to add, or subtract, a few RPMS to one motor, to help it around the corners a bit. Might be a bad idea for fuel motors. You still have the problem of one dead engine, and it might make a bad situation worse. Electric is sure the way to go for twins. About the fuel twins. I’m still trying to figure that one out. I have found the engine sync thing to be a waste of time. They fly fine with a bit of trim adjustment, way out of sync. The big mystery is the dreaded, dead engine. I have played with different out-thrusts on the engines, and it always comes back to the same thing. At less than full throttle, one side dead, you may never see a difference. The other side - instant panic. Full throttle, on either side, she is going to be upside down, in a heart beat. Cut the engines, and look for a flat spot. Taxi on the strip, one engine. One side, you can hold it straight, the other side is impossible. With the good side, you can lift off, with moderate throttle. Better have a big flat spot, if you try this one. If both engines aren’t broken in, and 100 percent reliable, don’t even think about flying! Twins are fun --
