RE: Club Enya
I have very little experience with the TN carbs. The 60 CX is the only engine I've run with the TN, it didn't seem any better just different. Hopefully someone else will chime in that has more time with the TN carbs. Larsen

RE: Club Enya
The carb that's on there is excellent. It is a metered carb with the air bleed used to trim the idle. Just set the air bleed screw 1/2 way across the hole, set the high speed needle and run it. Unless you are at a higher altitude this should be a very close starting point. Run the engine a several times before you try to tweak the idle adjustment, Enyas just get better with age. If you are having trouble with the idle, check the glow plug 1st. I've gotten lazy in the last few years and find it easier to just run Enya 3s or 4s in my 2-strokes rather than finding a less expensive plug that runs as well. You should have lots of fun and success with that engine. I have 2 25BBs, and I'm keeping an eye out for a cheap 30BB one day. I have an engine addiction that I don't want to cure! Have fun, Larsen

RE: Club Enya
I'm not sure, but I don't think that the lapped piston and sleeve has a tapered bore like an ABC, ABN, AAC engine does, so there shouldn't be a tightness at the top. I have 2 SS25bbs and an SS40bb and there is no pinch at the top. They are very strong runners, and start and idle well. Have fun, Larsen

Top Notch Models http://www.topnotchkits.com/index_files/TN_Contact.htm cut out a couple of kits for me and a friend. I just finished mine but haven't flown it yet. You might check with him and see how much for the kit, it should be more affordable since he's already done the setup.

Sig Cavalier was the first plane I saw fly with a Wankel. Das Bipe Stick would be a good match. I'm flying mine on a Goldberg Freedom 20. Way over powered on it. Plan for 1oz per minute fuel use.

RE: Monokote
"Until my recent Great Planes Electric Cub build, I have not used Monokote since 1990, that was my last RC build. I used Monokote on my Electricub and I have not noticed a difference from the last time I used it. I have recently read the post re: Monokote has changed, but still I have not noticed. From what I remember I always had to put the Monokote on tight and wrinkle free before using my Heat to shrink it tight. For the last few years I have been building freeflight balsa models, trust me, Monokote is awsome when compared to using tissue. Monokote on Electricub" I've been building since the early 80s, with some hiatuses for school and work. Monokote had some problems for sure in the early 90s, yellowing white was one that happened to me. I started using Ultracote in the late 90s along with Monokote. I think Ultracote made me a little lazy in pre-stretching, then I go back to Monokote and the same techniques didn't work as well. I do remember early 80s club "how tos" emphasizing making the covering look good before you started to shrink. Maybe Monokote wasn't as good as I remember, just the best thing out at the time. For what it's worth I still use both. I'm finishing a Seamaster now and need the edges to stay down so it's all Monokote.

RE: Midwest AeroSport .60
Great flying plane. The weak spot is the fuse in front of the horizontal stab. That light ply just doesn't hold up with the notch cut out for the stab. I never had an inflight failure, but cracks developed regularly that had to be fixed. I finally rebuilt the tail section and recovered the airplane last year. Find a way to reinforce that area when you build it and you shouldn't have problems. I also built mine with zero dihedral, and do NOT recommend that. I would use the dihedral from the plans. Take care, Larsen

RE: Sig Kougar Build
That should be a good running engine, and a lot lighter than the 46AX. It does need a glow-plug with an idle-bar though. The mount looks like an abused Dave Brown mount. I'd definitely replace it. Run it and have fun. Larsen

RE: Help with ENYA 46-4C
Yes, use the gaskets. If they are torn up, you can make them from a sheet of paper. A friend told me to use the scanner portion of my printer to make cutting them out easier. Works like a charm. Just put the part on the scanner bed, then put a white towel, or something to cover it and scan it on the piece of paper you'll make the gasket from. I used some old resume' paper I had that's a little thicker than printer paper. After I cut them out they are saturated in oil before trying to put them in place. Take care' Larsen

RE: Club Enya
GM carb= G-Type carb Modified(with a midrange adjustment). There is a pumped version of this carb, but the standard GM carb does not need a pump. I can show pictures with the differences if you need them, but if the carb is on a non-pumped engine it shouldn't need a pump.

I'd sure like to join the non-test, but it seems like a commitment... What is the engine limit, and time frame?? Do we need reproducible plans, or just a flying model? The only computer drawing program I've used lately is Google's Sketchup.

My Papillon! I'm one of those guys in my 40s that started with the Papillon. Mine only cost $9.95 though. I scratch built one from plans a couple of years back and was surprised how easy it was. Don't be afraid to try scratch building. This one is my only electric plane, I haven't built the greasy one yet, but I will.[:D]

RE: Need help with 4 star twin conversion
Sounds like a great project. Try drawing out a nacelle first to get an idea of the style you like. Make sure there is room for the fuel tank, and a throttle servo (if you're planning separate servos). Then cut out a piece of paper in that shape and put it on the plans to see how it looks. I don't have much experience bashing kits into twins, just my random thoughts. You might try the kit building forum if you don't get more responses here. Have fun!
