RE: OS SX-H Hyper Blowing glow plugs
Have to agree on the lean run. A smoke trail indicates that there is sufficient oil in the fuel, not that the mixture is lean or rich. Have you tried pinching the fuel line at full power? If the engine dies quickly, you are too lean. The rpm should rise some and then the engine should start to slow down. If the engine keeps running at the same rpm for quite a while, then the rpm begins to rise, you are too rich. The same test can be done at idle to check your idle mixture.

RE: Looking for Airfoil advice
Will this work? I found it using a Google search on the airfoil number. If you go up one level on the link you will find many NACA airfoils listed. RE: prop size
Biela makes 2, 3, and 4 blade props in many different size/pitch combinations. They also have some pusher props. The material is carbon fiber with a wood hub. All the props are balanced individually just before they are put out for sale. In the interests of full disclosure: I do not work for Biela, nor do I receive anything from them for any sales that they may get from my comments.

I don't see an undercambered trailing edge on your wing. The leading edge of what could become a flap is undercambered, but not the wing.

Just bought a can of LustreKote Flat Clear this past week at my LHS. Part number is TOPR7500. The can is a little bit confusing. It says Flat Clear just above the part number and High Gloss, Fuel Proof in the middle of the can. I'm hoping it really is flat.

RE: Glasing question
The Monokote gives you strength in tension the same as the glass does. However, the glass is much stronger than the Monokote and it can be painted more easily than the Monokote making it easier to achieve a more realistic finish.

Try sandpaper glued to a stick of the proper width. It works well and won't chip out the corners. Worked fine on the old Cleveland Model planes, should still work well.

You might try Clippard. They have 5/16" bore stainless steel cylinders with 4" stroke that use #10-32 fittings. Part number is USR-05-4-V. Price is $23.51. Here's a link to their web site [link=http://www.clippard.com/cylinders/]http://www.clippard.com/cylinders/[/link]

Johnfly, When making your search, did you ever consider adding your desired location to the search criteria? That should narrow the results a lot. Don't take it out on others because YOUR search didn't give you the results you wanted!!

RE: t34
The engine size would depend on how you want the plane to fly, ie, scale like or very fast (which they aren't in real life). Also, be sure that the recommended prop for the engine that you choose will give you adequate ground clearance. 4-stroke engines sound better since they aren't screaming like a 2-stroke. Remember lower pitch props will give you some dynamic braking when you throttle back and a lower top speed, but they will also give more thrust than a higher pitch prop. The T-34 was based on the Beechcraft convential-tailed Bonanza.

I believe the "extraa" receiver that you were told to install was supposed to be a satellite of the 921 you had. That's what the small white connector is for. That is standard practice on Spektrum systems under DSM2. Check with Horizon Hobby on that.

Why not make the cuts in the middle of each side and then apply tie plates to hold the two pieces together? That would preserve all the tabs and give a large glue area to hold the pieces together. Just a thought.

That sounds like a good way to go. Today you could substitute 1mm carbon fiber rod for the bamboo and save all the effort of size reduction, unless that would be much heavier than the bamboo.
