RE: Seagull's
I Agree matt, This newer DA is really different, not only the spinners, but the covering, the attachments...the corrected instructions. Looks like they are listening to us... Lefte

I have two Evo 40's, brand new. I will be putting 12x6 blades, which should be plenty...The manual even has updated the CG to 105 to 110. Lefte

RE: Seagull's
Matt, The reason I went with the tri props was because of the engines I ordered. The evo beginners model. and they came with the thi props. Let me ask another of many questions to come. When I am building and putting the ailerons in I noticed that the cover will of course go either way. Does anyone think it matters which way they are set? Lefte

Make sure you do one thing above all else, run one engine, get it running 100%, then do the same to the other. If one drops out in flight, the results can be un-forgiveable. Lefty (still deciding if I should rebuild one plane with two engines or two planes with one engine...)

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
Well, I am sorry to say that I am out of the Ace business for a little while. The last post I had was an engine out, God as the pilot landing. Well he must have had the day off because when the engine went out this time( yes I thought I had it good to go and matched with the other one) the Right engine out, I tried to go to the left gently, I had a level flight going with one engine out, turning left the plane's RIGHT wing dropped and from there it was no control. With one fence in the whole darn park of course it hit it, and hard. The sound was like a branch thrown into one of those branch grinders. I was at an altitude of 300' and it just spiralled down like a leaf. Maybe my next plane will have a parachute...

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
Ok, After reading what everyone has to say about the engine out and landing it, I was pretty confident that IF it happen I would be able to land. Well one engine quit during a loop, and from there it was bad...very very bad. My plane went into a flat spin with an occasional tipped wing toward the ground. I was sure the moment of impact would result in many many pieces. The ONE time I needed a camera to show a great video of course I had none. Well I did my best to gain control but it looked like God stepped in and landed it. The plane landed completely FLAT in 3 feet of prairie grass with only the front landing gear slightly bent to the right. It looks like the engine was a little to lean from the factory (an evolution no less) and the power loss with engine out combined with the tri props didn't give me enough to keep it moving. What size blade is everyone using on their Aces? Lefty [sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
Each wing is screwed into the body with a tube through and through to each wing. I have never been an "electric" guy, seems to easy, besides I love to hear that engine sound as it screams by. I have a 4 stroke Saito .72 in my other plane, a twist, and nothing sounds as nice as that puppy starting and rev'ng up... Electric seems to tame to me...IMHO... Lefty[sm=thumbup.gif]

I would love to see the picture of both the rear landing gear support as well as the front gear you mentioned if you don't mind. And nope I didn't throw them away emspilot My maiden voyage should happen this weekend, hopefully. Planned "enhancments" include better real rubber wheels, foam under the tanks, strengthening the servo tray, better front gear (what was that again?) Sullivan flex fuel tanks and dumping the cheezeeee red cones for white to fit the triblade Evo .46's. I'll let you know how it goes.... Lefty [sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
This bird is making a great entrance. As I posted earlier I received it on my Birthday 27 Apr and have been itching to work on i for the last two weeks. Well over the weekend I did just that. Put two full days and some nights into getting it up and running. Here are some problems I had to overcome. 1. The instructions are not the greatest when dealing with the nacelles. I had to test fit to make sure the one on the top goes there, I had little (unreadable at that) numbers written inside a"1"and a "2". Had to figure out if both 2's went on the bottom or what. Of course after making the cuts I realized I had it wrong and had to "make due" with what I had done. Only another Dual owner would know. 2. Mounting the engine servos and control rods was a trail and error as well. Finally just let them flex and put a 90 degree bend in it then clipped it to the servo. 3. Some of the parts were hard to find and I only found them after I used something else, I'm sure this was my mistake as I was very very excited to get the plane in a working condition. I could not find the aileron rods and made my own from spare parts. 4. I hate the wing screws and the prior posts about placing screws with hex heads is a great suggestion. Well that's about it for now, not to take anything away from the DA, so don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic about this plane and all of i's potential. I will be test flying it by the weekend weather permitting. I have a 46 meg video of my .46 Evolution engines test run up that I will post if possible. Plenty of pictures as well. Oh, I also put the tri prop with the white spinners on it. Does chrome look better then the white?? Lefty [sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: The Twinstar is coming back
I have .46 OS's on mine and it flies great. I still have the paltry 4 OZ tanks so I'm kind of scared to fly a long time 5 minutes max. I bought the sullivan flexitanks, but popped both of them with teh heat gun and too much pushing... How can I put a central tank in to feed the others as well as keeping them pressurized? Lefty
