Clod Buster Motor Question
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the stock 540 type motors that come with the Clod Buster would be rated in turns. Looking to upgrade them but would like to know my jump off point from where I am now.

Codbuster help PLEASE.
To make a long story short I recently finished a build on a Super Clodbuster and I'm just setting up the electronics. The problem I have is in the general inconsistency of the dual steering. I get that this is pretty old technology compared to what is now available but I seem to be getting pretty good movement in the rear wheels but the front only wants to turn to one side and not so much in the other directing. I tried adjusting the sevo saver nut tighter then looser but hasn't made much difference. Hoping to hear from someone with Clod knowledge who might be able to shed a little light on the steering set up for these classics of the monster truck world.

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
That seems logical, 31 cc is not 26cc so the 26cc exhaust is to short (not enough volume) for your 31cc engine.. That is why the QD for example has the "adjustable" steel hose between the header and expansion piece..

Nope, my exhaust is hand made by JohanD from the Netherlands and I did some modifications myself to make it really wrap around the motor.

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
No news about the wrap-around hotpipe Henk? This hotpipe still sticks out a lot behind the cilinder, not really a problem for all the lawless legs and look-a-likes, but not really nice for the VP and Arian outboards..

I think he means the radio-box in the gas-tunnels. I saw this electric tunnel on Eersel, was running very nice, but ended up smoking back on shore. So there are still some issues with it..

It has an IV vag for feultank, so that would result in lots of air in the bag.

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
There is not really one best leg. All legs have their con's and pro's. I use the AH specials leg, because of the sprockets and no flex-shaft that can break. I know Dutch users who use this leg for multiple years without any major maintenence, only change the oil once or twice a year. The ENIGMA CAMBER Outboard leg from Dominic cambers in the turns wich should give an advantage. I don't race my Tunnel so for me the looks are important to..

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
I'm Dutch and almost all used parts are Dutch to.. The Hull is a Synthar made by John Vianen. http://www.vianen-car-refinish.nl/ Very busy guy.. The outboard leg is made by Arian, it's called an AH Special: http://www.xtremercboats.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14827 This is the older type with the MHZ Z-drive bottom, mine is completely CNC made by Arian himself. The exhaust is originally made by JohanD and should look like this: But I wanted it my way and cut the exhaust in pieces and a friend of mine did the welding. As far is I know I got the last one he made, Johan is busy designing his own engines and hardware at the moment. Next weekend I'm gonna try some props and outboard setting, hopefully someone will make some movies for me, I got my GPS and RPM counter ready. The speed is decent in my eyes, but haven't got any hard figures. First run was with a broken coil, speed was 72km/h and bad settings and 7016/2 prop. Wanna try my Prather S270 and S275, also got a X470 with bar-cut. The 3 blade props are not doing that well, maybe the leg needs to be set higer for them.. Last time the Prather S270 ran nice, the S275 gave me a higher top-speed but slower acceleration almost the same as the X470. Since the X470 is cheaper (and easier to modify) I decided to give it a bar-cut to see what it will do.. Any advice about props is welcome!

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
Quick question for you guys with power 90s or even possibly power110 and Tru Turn spinners:What adapter did you order to fit the prop shaft? The nose bolt is just slightly too big to fit inside the hole on the prop shaft. Also, the prop adapters I already have are made for the Super Tigre, so, they're just slightly too small. It's kind of bumming me out.

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
Well I was certainly hoping to use 6s on this setup, but all of the information I've read says that maybe 6s isnt enough power. So I guess I will have to do an 8s setup. 16x8 is a massive prop for this thing! my current engine is only doing a 13x7. I sincerely hope your 6 cell setup has enough oomph. Looking forward to hearing your results

I think I'm going to convert mine to EP. Everything else in my hanger is EP and I just can't deal with the headache of trying to tune this inverted supertigre. I feel more comfortable with EP. I'm thinking about a power 90. on 6s hopefully.

Did you happen to bind the tx and rx with the gear switch in the up position? I'd say just try a rebind making sure that the switch is in the down position. Even if you did the first time, if anything it will force it to reset and might make it work. Myy Ar7000 and dx7 dont move at all when switched on.

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
Well Jim, the company that makes this particular prop is Master Airscrew. I wanted so much to get a 4 blade, but there really is no point unless you want a serious performance hit like you said. You're right about not flying on that prop yet, I hope it didn't slow down too much. I agree that the kit retracts are quite sloppy but once she gets going, she's light enough on her feet. My turns are sharp can't say the same for yours. Turned hard enough to scrap my tips on a medium speed taxi. I don't have a scale so I can't give you a number on weight.

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
That's a Super Tigre 90 there under the hood. I'm going to be drilling a new set of holes in my engine mounts. The engine is much too far backwards. This particular muffler has more than enough room in our cowls. the bulk of the muffler sits right behind the cylinder head with only the pipes poking out of the bottom. It also sticks out about 15mm more to the side of the engine. Plenty of space left over. The prop i have is only a 12x6 seeing as it's still in break in stages. Also an added plus, the prop is so big it clears the ground if I ever have to dead stick. I'm not too terribly worried about the power seeing as the .90 provides plenty of punch. Are you worried about top speed power of takeoff power?

Well I'm back from vacation and I thought I'd post some pics of my Bird. I did a quick CG measurement and was pleased to find my CG at about 73mm from the leading edge. Just took this pic while in the process of changing to a nice in cowl muffler. Wish it would get above 40 o I can test things out.

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
Hey Tagore, since you're using electric retracts, would you be willing to sell me your pushrods that were meant for the mains? the thick 3mm ones. I misread the instructions and chopped them too short thinking they were for the ailerons. For the life of me I cant seem to find to find them anywhere! Or If you could direct me to a site, that would be awesome too. And duece, do you have any idea how much you resized panel pics to make them fit? like pixel by pixel size?

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
That's what I was going to recommend. Cutting the cowl right behind the prop where the "intake" would be. You would most certainly get your desired cooling effect. And it would also look more realistic. I did the same to aid in cooling of my engine. How long are you talking about extendning the leads? You can make the motor leads a lot longer than you think. Whatever you do, don't extend the battery side leads. They should be shorter than 7" in most cases.

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
I will say that yes, I didn't alter the CG at all. A note about hanger rash. I noticed that in transport the ventral FIN is easier to have on than the ventral antenna AND fin. The antenna would break off basically every time because you have no way to set the aircraft down. But the fin is mounted in a place where the bottom begins to rise so it's much less susceptible to damage. I also think it adds some degree of stability as well. As for the wicks, I got angry and just pulled them out of the elevator. It's much easier to handle with just the rudder wicks in. I will post picks in about 15 days when I get back home. here's a link to a little 10 second clip i took on the maiden. To give you a little idea of how fast it goes, that was slightly below mid stick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EqGnx4Sb8U

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
Well, I couldn't give you a concrete figure on the weight now seeing as my aircraft is in another country. :D ( I'm on vacation) I'm powering it now with a Super Tigre G90. And I must say it's a bit messy due to the invert mount required and the tank being a bit higher than the carb. Though I've figured a solution for it as soon as I get back. As for the retracts, the many times on the ground and one time in flight I worked them, they worked just fine. I haven't worked them more because some confusion on the instructions I cut one of the main gear just slightly too short. Its just barely long enough to work. And that is a no go. Do you happen to know where I could find some replacements? The m3 pushrods? As for setup, with my engine weighing in at 765g (including muffler) and a full tank, and all my electronics mounted basically on the center, in the air there was only 1 click of elevator and that was it. It tracked perfectly. edit:static wicks are the 9 wires coming out of the vertical and horizontal stabilizer. I call them static wicks because on the full sized birds i work on they look exactly like that. They trail off the edges and are for static dissipation into the atmosphere. That may or may not be the name for what thery are on that model, but thats what we refer to them as in my circle.

RE: T-6A Texan II 75-91 ARF build suggestions
Well being that I have this model as well I thought I would share some of my experiences as well. Ditch the red spinner because it is cheap crap that flew apart after 2 flights. It also makes it look clownish. I suggest an aluminum one because thats whats on the real Texan and it looks infinitely better. Since it appears that you're already nearly done all I can say is for the star and bars along the fuselage cut the red line and a little bit of the blue if you can or else it will show through. This won't help you but may help with others doing nitro. Make sure you epoxy the static wicks on the tail, not CA or they will vibrate right out. Same for the pilot figures. I used CA at first and the guys started bobbling around inside the canopy. Oh, also the balsa loops in the battery/ fuel tank section are kinda weak so dont yank on them trying to ratchet down your pack or you wil break it. Ask me how I know. Instead, I looped the strap under the wood through the gear bay and out the other side. Enjoy your maiden, it tracks like an arrow and is an extremely fast plane especially when you stow those gear.
