RE: O.S. announces the new GT22 Gasoline Engine !
That is a chunky little motor. The Mintor 22 bare engine weight is only 23.5 oz.

RE: Which is lighter CA or Titebond?
CA is lighter. I have never broken a glue joint (CA or epoxy) in a crash it has always been in the area next to the joint.

RE: Transmitter use
Sid, The extra receivers were on the bottom of the page of the link you posted. Hear is the link anyway. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZNR1&P=V Also you can retrofit the transmitter with the Energizer rechargeables that you can get at the grocery store, with the charger.

RE: OS46FX Bearing Replacement Help
I use the largest dowel rod I can fit through the big bearing and knock out the small bearing For the large bearing I use a propane torch to quickly and briefly heat the bearing seat only. Then I immediately pick up the case (with a welding glove) and hit it ageist a piece of wood and my bearing falls right out. As far as a suppler I only use Bocca bearings. They always fit.

RE: how to remove engine stain please????????
http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1418922 This is a place to get dawn power dissolver which I think are located in Canada too. They sell it in single bottles or 10 packs. I HAVE left it multiple engines soaking in it overnight with no problem. The results are great and it's biodegradable so you can flush it down the sink unlike antifreeze.

RE: Taylorcraft crash
I do agree that the hardware packs especially on .90 and larger ARF's are a joke. In this instance I would E-mail them. It is there fault. If you do get a new plane take it upon yourself to re-engineer that system to accept multiple bolts. Because if it crashes again because of the single crappy bolt then it is your fault.

RE: Transmitter tray?
When I first started flying in 2002 I seemed like 70% of the guys flying were using them. Over the last 2 years I can't say I have seen more than 2 guys using them. red head I almost spit my coffee onto my laptop this morning when I read your post about the box flyer. That's funny. I suspect the guy has a Wii at home and figured it would work the same.[:)]

RE: still won't idle
Most manufactures recommend adjusting them off simply because they don't want you to stumble and put your hand through the prop .Personaly I agree because the 22x8 beachwood props I run would probbly break every bone in my hand.

RE: To lean or to rich
That doesn't sound like a big enough prop. It may run better with more prop load like say 22x6. I run a 22x8 on my Brison 52cc and it runs very well.

RE: Why this is the best hobby in the world
There are a lot of things that make this hobby awesome. What I like is the level of participation is up to you. You can fly an RTF plane, a Spad plane made out of corrugated plastic sign, or build a 40% war bird with hand painted rivets. Yore plane can literately be what ever you want it to be. I started out with a .40 glow Avastar trainer, now I'm putting the finish touches on a custom covered 160 U-Can-Do with a 52cc Brison gas engine.

RE: Do you charge your batteries while left in your plane?
Futura I like this one. If someone is seeking an alternate battery chemistry but has the battery berried somewhere in the plane as ballast (like me) they can judge what may be best for them.

I run Ni-cads and Li-ions. I leave both in the planes.

RE: Byron p51 engine conversion
My suggestion engine wise would be the OS GT 55. It is far lighter then the Zenoah 62 and it has a 30pound thrust rating. I personally witness it with a digital fish scale running a 22x8 prop. Plus the engine is cowl and scale friendly with its "glow like" front carb.

RE: right hand turn on take off
You need shims between the right side of the motor and the firewall. You can use strips of brass or aluminum from a hobby shop or hardware store. Start small, like 1/16 at a time and try taking it off after each shim is installed.

RE: Interesting experience with Tower Hobbies
I ordered a replacement U-Can-Do 60 wing.s. When it showed up a wing tip was smashed. The box they shipped it in had no room for padding around the ends. I called, they apologized, and sent a new one and let me keep the broken one. There shipping department may be staffed by knuckel heads but the costumer service department is awesome.

RE: Mintor 22cc
I love my O.S. 120 2 stroke but the Mintor total weight (eng, muf, ign) plus an estimated battery weight of 4 oz comes to 32.4 oz, the OS total weight is 37 oz. I get to drop weight and go gas. This engine is starting to look like a no brainer. [:)]

RE: Steerable Tailwheel on GP Big Stik
All of my planes are tail daggers and all have controllable tail wheels. They taxi very nice with full down elevator (held tell just before takeoff). It's pretty easy to run nyrod, 2-56 wire, or the springs from the kit, to the wheel. the cool thing is it doesn't need to be a super heavy duty linkage because its only a tail wheel. Plus that way there isn't some rod sticking in your rudder tearing it apart. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXYXH4&P=7

RE: OK, where can I get one of these
I would bet the wire was hand made, just because it looks like a piece of glow fuel tubing at the "90" by the wheel. Or the previous owner disliked wheel collars.

RE: choosing second plane
Sig's 4 star 60 was mine and I liked it very much. It will fly with an OS 60 without a problem. Later you can dial up the throws and stick a 20cc gasser on it and really have some fun. (and save money on glow fuel.)
