RE: Alright guys. First freestyle comp soon... HELP!
All i can say is ditto. Don't just go out and bang the sticks away. Carefully plan and rehearse what to do. It takes a while to figure out but you will realise its not just one manuver that you need to nail, its the whole flight as a whole. It has to be perfectly presented with a reasonnable proportion of precision 3D and pattern, with all manuvers exiting at same height and centre manuvers

What about the new ZDZ 80rvj? Its nearly 800 grams lighter than the DA 100 and has more power. Any thoughts on this? Luke

RE: British Freestyle Champ's 2005- RCM&E
I think thats a very good point. i wasnt bothered having one music round dropped - because i hadnt practised one flight in six months - just decided to do it on the day. Including the fixed music you could have 4 music flights , but have only three where you get the larger points bonus for music co-ordination. that would cut down a bit of practise.

RE: British Freestyle Champ's 2005- RCM&E
What do you guys think of this format?? 2 day comp: Day 1: 1 FIXED schedule 1 round of set music. 1 round of freestyle without music. Day 2: 3 rounds of your own choice of music. (the spectators day!!!) Other thoughts - Points from all flights count. If a pilot screws up one flight or is not good at one particular thing he has another five to recover the score he really deserves. Having the flying order for each set of flights determined by the positions of the pilots.. The main disadvantage is having the time to practise a fixed schedule,a set music, and three music flights. But it would be fun[:D]

RE: British Freestyle Champ's 2005- RCM&E
I think the main thing is to actually HAVE a site for the comp, considering the trouble had getting it for the 2005 event. Of course a loaction and durattion allowing as many pilots as possible to attend would be in the best interest. lets see what these pattern boys can do.[;)] The music bonus points are great. Music is the way to go IMO. watching flights to music had such a bigger impact than those without, and is great to watch. And music is great fun to fly to (you should try it thomas) Some official coverage and publicity before and after the comp would be good, not just reliant on RCME. Who wants to go to a comp that no-one has really heard of?

RE: The New Improved Adrenalin!!
Good replyali Sometimes prices for customers don't seem fair. Just deal with it. To me quality and flying characteristics are far more important than the cheapest price when choosing a model. my advice to you nick is to get an adrenaline and come back and give us a realistic flying report. If lowest cost is your concern why not go for a similar , cheaper model that has had a lot less work put into its development and design (or just move to america!) I would rather stay here and take advantage of a plane which is still good value.

Basically listen to what other people fly to. You will be suprised what you can fly to- just listen to the radio with an open mind. Over the next week there will be some videos coming out from the UK freestyle champs. They will be well worth a look if you are scratching for ideas. Luke

RE: Hovering Help !!
The flying cirkus guide to hovering video is very good. apart from that its just take a look at an expeienced flyer's setup, and copy it. Then practise practise practise and then practise some more![;)] You will learn to hover and TR much much faster if you get a sim such as aerofly pro deluxe - you will not beleive how much it will improve your flying if you put in 10 mins a day.

RE: Sponsoring
Sponsorship isnt the be all and end all. It depends on what deal you get but especially at first you may find that although you get a free plane from someone you have to spend at least as much money fitting it out yourself with engine and servos. Plus you may have to do this many times before you finally get offered the killer plane that you really want. You may have to give a lot of feedback, and provide online support e.t.c when you could be practising on the simulator instead! So its not all its hyped up to be. When it comes down to it its all about having fun and improving your flying- thats my goal anyway. If you are doing this, then chances are you will at one point be in the right place at the right time.

RE: Modeltech Twister ??
It depends what you want to do with it. It should be ok for pattern with that engine but not 3d. For pattern/freestyle/3D (what the plane is designed for) you want a low revving engine with a lot of torque turning a big prop with fairly fine pitch. Hence the saito 82 and YS 63 being the most suitable.

RE: Capiche 140
It was really gutting to see it go in after flying so well. It was amazing that the spar survived. It must be incredibly well made. Good choice by IH going PBG and staying away from carbon copy rubbish! Seems to be luck that i chose pete tindal servo arms - they are thin, strong but flex, which is probably the reason why my elevator linkage is still going strong(in conjunction with a different servo position)! I thoughroughly recommend them now - i had a harrier landing flip accident where i hit the rudder on the deck - the plastic teeth on the servo arm gave way saving a 70 quid servo and leaving my rudder undamaged.
