Probably the problem is when you are posting cutting remarks, people can't see your $hit eating grin and have no way of knowing you are trying to be funny.

ESM TIGERCAT
Yow, looks like they painted this one in the flat dark sea blue as well. I realize that time and weather can dull the finish of these ships, but I prefer the gloss look on certain birds, F7, F-8. F-9, Navy Skyraider etc etc

Tomas, SInce they are pulling off the complex stringbag, how about convincing ever soaring models to produce an 80" Albatross? That would be popular.

RE: ESM Bearcat new scheme
True, but they stayed glossy. The point of the gloss was for improved wind slippage and ease of cleaning. The model TBM is putting out is FLAT, doesn't even look like gloss sea blue, looks like non-specular sea blue.

RE: ESM Bearcat new scheme
Once again Ram-bro, weathering is one thing, flat cote on an original GLOSS full scale bird is another. I love flat coat on all appropriate warbirds, would you like an F7-F or a Panther in flat? Same thing. Not to mention, as I said before, everyone of those pics you posted shows a gloss coat, you can see reflections up the ol wazoo on everyone of them. WHERE is the flat coated Bearcat?

RE: ESM Bearcat new scheme
You guys actually like the dull coat? I prefer "scale" glossy. Like they did on their first version.

RE: ESM Bearcat new scheme
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is a huge difference between a dull coated finish and a "dirty weathered finish". In all the pics Ram-bro posted you can see reflections, a common side effect of a glossy finish. US 185 is also correct in stating that the official colr for US Navy fighters of the time was most commonly Glossy Sea Blue. As evidenced by the red bar on the modeled scheme it was a post war aircraft. By the way Ram Bro your number 2 pic is of the Blue Angel #2 ship. And why you bothered to put up a pic of a wind tunnel model is beyond me.

ESM Bearcat new scheme
I was looking at the new offering on the bearcat overall blue with the red & white stripe. I have always liked this scheme, but then I noticed they have done it in a flat dark blue. Just about every pic I have seen of this ship appears to be a glossy dark blue. The previous Bearcat is glossy, I wonder why they went flat? I guess you could gloss coat it, but why add all the weight when the factory could have applied glossy.

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
The landing like a rocket would be the clear indicator that she is nose heavy. Nose heavy birds are heavy on the elevator and won't glide. He seems to be stalling because he is flaring trying to slow it down. IMO it would make the situation worse to add more nose weight. Besides, when balanced properly H-9s are among the easiest warbirds to land.

RE: KI-84 FRANK ESM
Probably a YS 140 or YS 120 depending on the weight factor. Went ahead with the ESM gear and wheel set now that they are more reasonable. I wish they hadn't lowered the prices on the ships! Now I'm looking at the Tigercat and 80" Stuka. DAMN THEM!

Mine is on the way, love those Japanese warbirds! A fair amount of weathering and residue should make her look great or as my friend always says, "she's beat up just right" but he's usually not talking about airplanes.
