RE: The Wonderful World of Half-tracks!
I think the VS TU with the Tiger I sprockets would make a good SWS drive train.

RE: New Tamiya Panther G Tank!
Depending on how old this kit is, it could have some of the drive sprockets that needed a spacer between the two halves. Impact sold corrected versions of these sprockets, but Tamiya fixed the issue on later kits. If you had these sprockets Tamiya was also offering the spacers for free if you called them to have them mailed to you. You may still be able to do this now. If this is the issue I would call Tamiya America.

RE: will this combo work?
I know that someone on this site used the Asiatam Late Tiger I road wheels on their Panther G. They had to put sleeves on the axles because the axles on the Asiatam wheels are smaller then the axles for the Tamiya road wheels. I am not sure if it would be the same for the Tamiya Tiger I ?

RE: Ludwig/ Heng Long king tiger E-100 build
1200 euros for the tracks? Wow!!! That is $1548 dollars US. that is at least 2 Tamiya Full Option kits. I think I would have to go with Tiger II tracks and wheels. I would almost be able to buy a 1/8 scale Tiger II from R/C Armory at $1875, which is a kit, but comes with metal tracks as well. I understand that this is a unique offering, but it seems the track vender is trying to make there cost back on the tracks as quickly as they can? Beautiful tracks though. Saw them on your other post.

RE: Thinking about a Tank!
Try R/C Armory. They are here in the U.S. and actually close to you in Indiana. Here is their web site.... http://www.rcarmory.com/ These are kits of 1/8 scale German Armor. Expensive but well made. I have one of their Tiger II kits.

RE: Story of Two StuG's
tthompso and YHR thanks for your interest. I use Testors liquid cement and have tried Tamiya's liquid cement as well. These both work on polystyrene which is what most models are made of. If you want to use this method on the HL tanks I use Plastruct's liquid cement, because HL uses an abs plastic and Plastruct works better.

RE: Ludwig/ Heng Long king tiger E-100 build
So is Chris making wheel sets for it? I like what you are doing with your Tiger II wheels and if I did one I would probably go that route. Thanks for the ball park price. Like Panther F said, I will not hold you or Chris to the pricing, just wanted to know what a project like this would possibly cost. I really like the Trumpiter version turret!!! To me it looks like your E-75 turret. My next choice would be the Maus turret without the rounded front.

RE: Story of Two StuG's
Thanks for you kind words ausf!!! I've got two going on the work bench. The pig's head is going to be used for my late StuG III G. It's going to be based on an actual vehicle that saw combat. The white you see shining through on the pig's head is Milliput. I used a dark brown rust color to prime it just to be sure the texture looked right. I will have to try the still wool method. I will pm you about your book reference material. Thanks again, ausf. mustclime, I did the texture on the pig's head with a small ball scribe/cutter bit in a variable speed Dremel tool. By changing speed and bouncing it all over the surface I was able to get the look I wanted. I was able to get the rolled armor plate look by using a medium stiff tooth brush and liquid cement. I brushed the cement onto the surface of the plastic card and then used the tooth brush by pressing it into the surface. It has taken a lot of trial and error to get that technique right. That said once you get it down it can be replicated with ease. It is just a matter of timing, i.e., when has the liquid cement melted the surface of the plastic enough for one to attack the surface with the tooth brush? Once you get the feel for that it is easy. I will try to get more done so I can at least prime some parts to show the texture even better.

How much did it cost shipped to you and how long did it take to get here? Also did you get just the lower hull? Very cool build. It looks like Chris makes one for HL parts and one for Tamiya?

RE: how to wash oil based painted model. then dry brush?
If you used oil based paint to paint your model? You will need to airbrush or use a spray can coat of acrylic clear gloss over the whole model. Let it dry for at least 24-48 hours so it has a chance to dry completely. This coat will protect you models base coat. Next you would take either a black or dark brown wash made from oil based paint and thinner. I use a 20 to 1 mix. 1 part paint to 20 parts thinner. It will look like and run like thinner with color added. In fact it will look very watered down when you apply it to the model. You may want to practice on an old model on scrap piece of plastic card painted like you model with the clear coat on.

RE: Zimmerit
Woodland Scenics has a product called long or tall grass that works well. Also their lichen works. Another thing you can do is when you are out walking look for scale twigs and wood on the ground. They can have foliage added to them to get the branch look.

Worked on the lower hull add on armor for the StuG III G /M hull. tried to add photos, but have not been able to get them to upload. I will try again later today when I get off of work. Basically I used scale thickness plastic card stock and cut it to size. Next i textured it to give it a rolled steel look.
