RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
Hi all, I'm building the kit and I intend to use an electric motor AXI 4130/20. If have many questions : I would like to see some pics of building changes to allow the replacement of the battery without removing the wing between flights. If someone mount an aerosound unit, I'm interrested too. How many lipo do you use ? 6S or 8S with this engine ? What are the differences in flight : more power, longer flights ? BTW, did someone tried the G-Ions (Lions) battery for this size of plane ? In the "katalog2009" of guindeuil (http://www.falkner.de/guindeuil_2009/dokumente/katalog_2009.pdf), I read page 24 for the GIons : 4S -4800 (3P) 4800 mAh 48/75A 550g d.72x65x54mm 14,4V 105,0 € 4S -3900 (3P) 3900 mAh 78/90A 550g d.72x65x54mm 14,4V 132,0 € And for the lipos : Pack lipo Kokam 3S 5000 mah 30C 11.1 V : 384 gr : 122 Euros 142x43x35 Pack lipo Kokam 4S 5000 mah 30C 14.8 V : 512 gr : 162 Euros 142x43x46 => 8S : 1100 Gr instead of 1024 gr So theses batteries can provide 48A continous and 75A on peak or 78A continuous or 90A on peak. On the other side, on http://www.modelmotors.cz, I can see that an AXI 4130/20 consume around 40A and can bear 55A 60s. In the array of sample of uses, it's less than 40A and it's recommended to use a JETI 77 which allow 75A continuous and 80A peak. So in the capacities of the Gions. If I compare with the weigth of a lipo, the difference is less than 100 gr, the price is lower, the lifetime is better and I read that you can empty the Gions more than the lipos without problems. So does anyone have the experience of Gions ? Thanks ML

Hi, Thanks You can see the shaft when the 15x12 APC is mounted. I notice the http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMTB3 is a little longer than http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMSG6 So you mount your prop this way ? See pic 3 Thanks And Happy new year to all !

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
Hi all, I get a AXI4130/20 and a 15x12 APC propeller. But this prop is for glow engines. Does it matter ? BTW, it's big and the nut is just long enough : 4 turns only to lock. Whitch propeler do you use with such engine ? Thanks. ML

Hi CorsairJack Thank you for the links. I think I will use AXI 4130/20, 6S 5000 mAH LiPo and a 15x12. Are you satisfied of your Castle Creations Phoenix 60 ? Do you use the Bec or a separate battery for the receiver ? Thanks ML

Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang Gold Edition Kit: Electric conversion
Hi all, I'm building this aircraft and I would like to install an electric motor. I'm totaly a newbie in electric power. Could you help me to choose the correct engine, ESC and lipos ? I found that AXI 5320/28 or AXI 4130/20 could fit. But other brands could better fit perhaps. And I found a problem with the diameter of the propeller (15 inch for a 91FX, but the 5320/28 need of 19 or 20 inches). It will hit the ground isn't it ? So what can I choose ? I intend to use an aerosoundrc system too. I own the P47 '.60 size' with a .91 FX. It flies great ! I think that .60 engine would be a little too small. (And I choose the .91FX because the weight is the same as the .61FX). Thanks ML

Hi, I use two 12x6. I take off in 70 meters. The top speed is a little to fast in my opinion. Does anyone tried and compared different props with pitts mufflers ? OS recommends 10.5x6, 11x6-8, 12x6-7. ML

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)
Hi, I use Eurokit retracts. The nose retract is for 4kg planes too, the same strengh as Robart, because the space to house it is not big enough One time, the nose retract did not lock and cleared itself. The nose gunner was intact !!! She glided on the grass. I just lost a little piece of wood in the nose gear door which hold a hinge. Now I strengthened the nose retract by drilling and now using a 6mm axis to hold the leg instead of 5mm. Yesterday I did the 5th and 6th flight without any problem. If you need to strenghted the nose anyway, you way use resin+glass tissue inside the bottow part of the nose.

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **
Hi, I used my twinsync v1 for the first time. But it pumps ! It's only ok at full throttle and at idle. I made videos of the behavior if needed. Today, I tried it on my B25 for the maiden flight, but on the ground, at middle power, she was turning left and right. But I succesfully did the first flight, at full throttle, then landing at idle, at the last moment [;)] I use 2 OS 46 AX, a Futaba FF10 with a R1410DP (41Mhz) in PCM 1024 mode, and 2 Futaba S3004 for the servos I tried to slow down the throttle servos speed from the transmitter without any success Bill, I remind you that you send me a updated PIC a few month ago. I do not use the glow facility. I do not use the rudder control (not connected) The transmitter servo direction is normal, not reversed. The yellow led is on when I push the stick, and off at idle. When I tried, the yellow led was on all the time, then off when I was pushing the kill engine switch on my FF10. Any idea ? Thanks. ML Updated : I think I found the root cause , I don't read the correct documentation. On google, on can find : http://www.rcshowcase.com/images/PDF/Instructions_TS%20143.pdf and http://www.rcshowcase.com/images/PDF/twinsync%20instructions.pdf

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)
Hi guys ! I made it ! The maid fly is done. To begin, I unstick a gear door, when getting the plane from my car. Ok, I will keep the gear down for the first flight. Then, I tried the twinsync to synchronise my engines. But it was pumping, except at idle or full throttle. [:o], and on the ground she was turning left and right at middle power. I will ask to bill to try to solve the issue. BTW, could someone could point me the page of the installation of a gyro in this thread, in the case I could not resolve the twinsync issue. So I decided to takeoff and keep full throtle my 2 OS 46AX. I needed to trim the elevator. It was climbing too much. Then, she started to fly perfectly, not to fast. And the landing with full flaps was a breeze. Yes this plane made me "ace" because everybody applaud on the field after landing [8D] It was the first time I saw a RC twin since 30 years. Great plane ! Congratulations kproton ! I hope TopFlite will produce other twin like the P38. ML

Hi norman, Why don't you consider a Twinsync ? In your case, it would idle the remaining engine. But the last of the flight would be harder. How do you set the Gyro ? At the CG. Connected to the rudders. ML
