Hi Guys, Can you tell me what weight your electric Axiomes are, I have one and can't make the weight limit, missing it my circa 100g with 1230g batteries. Are others having this problem? Regards, Matt

RE: ZN Line Xigris
ORIGINAL: can773 I have posted this before, and have taken a lot of measurements on my models. There are two marks for the wing on the left side of the fuse (they are there, but you gotta look, I have them on both C1 kits, and my new C2 kit), with those set at 0.5+, the motor will be around -0.5 negative. At that point the stab CL should be sitting at zero. I have not flown my C2 yet, but my C1 is setup like this, CG is 280mm from the TE which works out to about 33% of MAC, with this setup there is pretty much no mixing except a little down at idle, and some small roll coupling, but the new planes have more dihedral to help correct this. I would say if the CG is at 25% then my experience is it should be a little further back. If you are pulling to canopy in upline, and both KE moving it back a bit should help all that.
Interesting comments Chad. I have an electric C2 with about 25 flights on it. Still to be painted but weighs 4650g with 1230g batteries - I did nothing special to achieve this weight just an excellent kit from JP as usual. I have explored the settings (wing incidence and CG) on the C2 but at the moment I have motor at -0.5 deg, wing at +0.25 deg and tail at 0 deg (need to check the caniliser incidence). CG is 210mm from the TE. My model pulls to the canopy in both KEs and pulls out on a vertical down. Moving the CG rearward from here and it starts to become less stable and start to see some yaw on pull out (I believe this to be a symptom of a tail heavy model). It needs some down ele to hold inverted and 45 deg downs (more than my Osmose) but doesn't drop sharply in slow or point rolls. Snaps look good and spins well (very slow). I would expect a small mix to sort the v down but what would you suggest to sort the KE without mixing? Could the caniliser incidence sort this? Any comments welcome. Regards, Matt

Dear Praoul, Thanks for your reply. See the attached pic where I propose to mount the batteries. The ones in the photo are FlightPower 5350mAh EvoLItes but I won't make the weight limit with these so I am proposing to use the FP 4350 EONLites or the FP 4400 EON 28's. Is anybody putting an Oxai Axiome EP together? I would be interested to know what you setup is (motor & batteries) and how you are doing in achieveing the weight limit. It is tight in the belly pan and quite tail heavy so would also be interested in how you plan to mount the batteries. Any help or information would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt

RE: turbines in pattern flying
The GBR/CAA encourages people to have go with what ever model they have in sportsman (now called clubman) class so is not run to full FAI rules. I would recommend contacting the CD prior to entering a comp to check local rules don't prohibit turbines etc.. As I suggested post the same question on the GBR/CAA forum to get some more opinions. If you are thinking of entering a comp in the UK you would be best posing your question over on the GBR/CAA forum - [link]http://www.gbrcaa.org/smf/index.php[/link] As long as its under 7kg I don't think there will be a problem. Regards, Matt

Hacker C50XL
I am considering moving over to an electric setup, I will be going with the Hacker C50XL motor, Master 90-0-Acro Comp speed controller and 2x Thunder Power 5300-5S4P batteries. What I would like advice on is, which turn motor to use, the 13,14 or 15? What differences will I see and what will influence my decision, technical advice also appreciated? Prop sizes will also be a help. If anybody is aware of any new technology that will be released in the next 6 months then I would be very interested. I will hopefully be putting the setup into a TS Composite Oxalys Evolution, or less I decide to stick with my YS! [:D] Thanks for your help, any experiences with this setup will also be greatly received. Cheers, Matt

RE: "T" Canalizer - Mole or Beauty Spot?
As AA has stated I have the canaliser on my Synergy, one thing to add to AA's comments is that you can feel the increased drag at the bottom of down lines and the radii which in turn makes the speed more constant and there radii more consistant. I can't feel a difference in knife edge but the model definitley looks flatter, whether this is due to less rudder or aerodynamical I don't know. The canaliser did not cause me to change any trim or mix. For the majority of the flight the model feels identical with or without it. I made mine from two pieces of balsa to CPLR's dimensions, sanded to an aerofoil and glued with epoxy to form the 'T'. The base was formed with carbon fibre round my Synergy no. 2 fuz, right behind the cockpit. A protective layer was put onto the fuz (Laminating sheet), add some release agent, two layers of carbon and some epoxy. Add another layer of laminating sheet and some release agent, phone directory on top and all taped in place and left to dry. The edges can be trimmed to a rectangle and sanded. This base will therefore perfectly fit your fuz, the T was the epoxied onto the base. Covered in profilm to finish. As i wanted to be able to remove it is simply attached with four pieces of wide tape. The sort I use for hinging surfaces on foamy models. At the moment I have no reason to remove it!! This is very lightly constructed so I doubt it will add only minimal loads to the fuz. Regards, Matt Hoyland [image]http://www.gbrcaa.org/images/can.JPG[/image]

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
Looking at the TS Composite website the Oxalys is finished in "Ultra Thin Stickers Sistem. TS F.C.T use a ultra-thin sticker film to obtain the colour pattern. This system give to the aircraft exellent results in lightness and adhesion." This doesn't sound like its painted in the mould? Can anybody who has seen the model comment on the finish? Any comments on finishing the canopy on a painted model? Tom, We too were thinking about painting an all white version, do you think doing it this way would get the weight the same as the factory finished version? Will we see your ZN Line Oxalys on Sunday? RE: Hatori 699 muffler and Header Mounting
Steve, I think I have finally solved it, but after breaking quite a few headers. I have found that you have to find the setup that works for your model, just because it works for someone else doesn't mean it will work for you. I ended up with supporting the header in two places, very softly mounted and soft mounting the pipe. Unfortunatley I don't have any photo's and the digital camera is away for repair, when I get it back I'll take some for you. Regards, Matt

Thank you for your reply Bax.
