RE: Robinaire 60 Size Rotating Retracts
Lee, I have an old set of wheels made by Kraft. They are a hidden hub design. They look great when installed because there are no ugly collars visible. Your dimensions with this feature in a light weight set up would be the perfect set! If you would like a few pics of them I'll snap a few. MV

RE: Robinaire 60 Size Rotating Retracts
Lee, Have you given any thought to stick on Braille labels? Individual numbers and letters shouldn't be too hard for her to learn. You can get transparent labels at http://www.independentliving.com/products.asp?dept=405&deptname=Labels%20and%20Sheets Check out item 185458 about half way down the page. Learning braille now while she still has some sight left is far better than waiting until it's a nessessity. Good luck to you both, I hope the prognosis improves. Kerry

WOW, can't begin to describe these babies![sm=RAINFRO.gif] Got mine yesterday, I believe you could run your plane head on into a semi and still have a workable set of gear left. These are truly a sight to behold. I can't say enough how good of a job Lee has done for us. And he has maintained an open line of communication the whole time. I'll take integrity every time!!!! THANK YOU Lee!

RE: Robinaire 60 Size Rotating Retracts
Lee, This is just FYI, and I'm not going to debate this with anyone! An old 486 based PC is plenty fast enough to surf the INTERNET. The ISA bus inside this ancient PC runs at 8.2 MB/sec bandwidth. A T1 connection (1.54/sec MB) is considered a fast broadband connection. So, any PC faster than a 486 (which by the way only runs anywhere from 33MHz to 66MHz) can handle a very fast INTERNET connection. The problem (sloooow connection speeds) usually lies in either the connection to the Internet (modems) or the software running on the PC. If you have a fast connection then it's the software. A 486 PC works fine for surfing, but if you have a bunch of programs running in the background then it will slow down your PC. Now, if you have an OS that is sensitive to registry problems (read pre Win XP) and you have cleaned the PC of any viruses or Trojans and it still runs slow then a fresh install of the OS is usually the best solution to correcting the problem. Whether you are broadband or modem, run a good virus program (AVG is great and it's free) and a spy-ware detector (SpyBot is also free), write down all your INTERNET settings and re-install Win 98. Once done, I'm confident you will find your old clunker runs like a sports cars again (at least for surfing). Good Luck Kerry

Same here, and I can also wait. Heck I stopped work on this thing a year and a half ago waiting on the right retracts, a few more days won't matter. MV PS Lee, remember to include a set of those scale comparison drawings with mine.

RE: Robinaire 60 Size Rotating Retracts
Lee, Since I'm using 3.5 inch I'll go for the short struts. If in the future I change to a 4 inch wheel, what would be the cost of a long set of struts? Or is this "adjustment" something I could do? Kerry

RE: Robinaire 60 Size Rotating Retracts
I was planning on using 3.5 inch wheels. I have a set of Dave Brown Lite Flite and a set of Hanger 9 Pro Lite wheels. I like the Dave Brown's better as they are slightly narrower and much lighter than the H9's. Is this (3.5!QUOT! vs 4!QUOT!) going to make a difference on the strut length? MV Oh and as for migraines, artificial sweeteners can trigger them. So if she drinks diet soda or uses it in her coffee/tea, try switching to good old fashioned sugar or honey and see if that helps.

Lee, you get healthy first, then take some time for yourself! I've waited this long (1 1/2 years) for some decent gear. I can wait a little longer. Just post some pics I can put under my pillow [sm=sleeping.gif] and I'll be happy for a while. Kerry

Luke, Some people may not like or agree with your "scale discussions", but if they would just sit back, read the discussion with an open mind and not get their panties in a twist, they just might learn something. One thing is for sure, right or wrong, you have a great eye for details. Thanks for your contributions! MV

RE: Robinaire 60 Size Rotating Retracts
I was just about to say (before reading Juvatwad's reply), that in all fairness you can't really compare the pictures of Darrel's gear and Lee's gear. Since the pictures of Darrel's gear is of an almost finished product and Lee's are of a prototype. As for which finished product I will buy, since they are both custom made I am sure they both will be of excellent quality, so my money goes to the man with INTEGRITY!!! Anyone want to guess who that is?
