2.4gHz + rc submarines = ??
Hi all! I was just talking to a guy who claimed that spektrum 2.4gHz was no good when it came to marine models. He were talking about i should use some special reciver, but that only has 3-channels. I could use some help to pick what radio to use with my submarine project. I was planning to use the spektrum dx5e.. but now I don't know. Any sugestions or thought, help is much apriciated :) Thank you all in advance, Gabriel

RE: IR or Airsoft??
Pattoncommander: I dont intend to degre or talk bad about HL or anything else, I just took them as an example since they are equiped with airsoft units from the box.. and tamiya is not so I couldent use it as an example. Ofcourse, same thing about HL, Matorro or any other brand.. if hundreds of hours spend and alot of money, same thing applys! :) I like HL much, I am working on detailing an pz III at the moment.. and same as any other tank I have done, no one shoots at it, would make my heart break. And what I ment with "out of the box" is, brand new, unmodified, unpainted.. all tank brands are "out of the box" until you start working on it. I guess you get what I ment now. Offtopic: I dont think any of the more common rc tank brands (tamiya, matrro, hl, wsn) has that good detail, it's ok but they all need alot of work if you want them true to scale. I have no intention of saying that HL is worse or Tamiya better.. I dont care which. It's not the brand that makes a beutifuly modeled, detailed and painted, it is the person that have done the job :) And I stick with what I said, you don't hammer a beutiful hotrod. Hope I don't step on more toes now, sorry for the mess pattoncommanrer. Gabriel

RE: IR or Airsoft??
Imagen that you spend 100 hours on buildiing, detailing and painting a tank. Adding alot of fine scale details, photo etch and more. Spending 1000$ on it and then you head out batteling. Your fine work get shot at and blasted, paint breaks, details destroyed etc.. I can't see what's good with that. It's similar to building a hotrod and when it's done, you take a hammer and smack it here and there.. Extream maybe, but that's how I see it [:D] I whould get a heartatack if someone started shooting bullets at my tank [;)] Well ok, if it is a "out of the box" tank then I dont mind some airsoft batteling, for example HL or Matorro tanks. There is no fine detail, hours of work and money spent there. Gabriel

RE: Panther 2
About the transport tracks, is it known for sure that it was suposed to use transport tracks in combat? Most of the heavy tanks were issued transport tracks. So if you ask me it's not wrong to add combat tracks to the model [;)] But, if the idea is to make a exact model of the one found.. then it should have transport tracks. Beutiful model indeed, would love to see it in action [:D] Gabriel

RE: How good are Impact Metal Tracks
I use impact metal tracks on my Tamiya King Tiger, and they are fantastic. Brilliant quality and finish. I can't tell how the will work together with a stock King Tiger since I got the metal tracks when I had plenty of upgrades installed. Looks, sounds and preforms very good. If you are into scale and realism you will not be disapointed with the metal tracks, adds alot of wheight to the tank and you get a compleatly different hang on the tracks. I have never regret the purchase so far, and I guess I never will [:D] Gabriel

RE: It started with the Graupner U-16..
Many thank's for the answers guys [:D] I have some things to think about. More reaserch aswell :P A kit sounds challangeing, but expensive if it's built wrongly.. I think I prefer something in betwen a kit and rtr, if there is such thing that is. Gabriel

It started with the Graupner U-16..
Hi all you rc-submarine maniacs, first time for me here in this section. But has been writing on the rc tank section. I'm realy in to scale rc tanks [:D] But you see, I have always been facinated by submarines and always thought that rc submarines is scratch built super expensive equipment. Until I found the Graupner U-16, bought it for fun. I thought, "since I cant build one and can't afford one of them larger scales this one is perfect!" and now she patrols my aquarium. Brilliant peice of engineering for the money spent. Problem is that this little mini sub has set something in motion, I just got to have a larger scale sub. And that lead to alot of searching and reasearching. I found out that 1/72 subs arent that expensive that I thought and in many cases they are converted from static model kits (wich were suprisingly low price). So I was woundering if you sea captains could help a land crab like myselfe? [sm=drowning.gif] What kit is more like a beginners kit? Is it eaven possible to keep it below 1000EUR? Is 1/72 subs worth to get? I have been looking at this kit: Revell Type VIIC Conversion Set 1/72 http://www.rcsubs.sub-club.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=29 Any thoughts about it? Anyone know what a kit like that might cost and were I can get one? Lots of questions from Sweden, Many thanks in advance! Best regards, Gabriel PS. Damn Graupner, they should not sell them mini subs.. dangerous stuff!!! [:@][;)] DS

RE: Touch up primer?
I encountered a simular situation on my KT when i changed som stock items to better upgraded ones, and I solved the problem with a little spray with the primer. It dosent hurt if you make it a thin layer, it will make no diference when you apply the paint later on. I must ask, any plans for your KT? Good luck with the build. Gabriel

RE: My King Tiger project

Many thanks gentlemen[:D] I have the whole upper hull (the lid) to do, and I hav'nt done much. Some of the work I have posted I have to remake, for example, the towcabel holders from Schumo is all wrong.. can't belive thye actualy produced that part and charge so much for it when it's not same design as on the real KT. Can just say, wach out for the Schumo tow cabel holder set [&o] And you Gary have many of the small parts and details done and done.. will take me ages untl I am abel to compleate mine since I still miss the photo ets tool :P Next I will post some on my "rolled armor" effects.
