RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
ORIGINAL: 378
ORIGINAL: Marco810
ORIGINAL: pythonfan I know everyone is wondering what these little motor's can do, but I'm wondering what supertib could do to one once it comes out. I guess in the next few months we will know if these little guys can handle a clockworks mod.
Im also excited to mod these things. Adding spark to the table gives more options

Adding spark to the table gives more options for modding (custom ignition curve, advancing the timing, different fuel sources..)

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
ORIGINAL: kochj Just pull the spark plug cap!
that works but would have a chance of getting zapped. had to do that with one of my dirtbikes that went rogue, gave me a good jolt!. Not that a kill switch is a crucel part of this new engine, just saying

Im sure they will add a kill switch. would be as simple as adding a switch to disconect the battery pack

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
ORIGINAL: 378 I want to see inside these things. There's no internal pictures and there's no indication if they're ABC or Ringed, plain or needle bearing big end, nothing.
same here, also would like to see port proffile. guessing its ringed, with bushing bearings. needle bearings would be sweet but i would image the cost would just be too much

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
i think with a 3speed it will sound good. thing that make the baja make bogg sounds is tall gearing due to be single speed heavy vehicle, I can make my dirtbike sound like that too, just roll into 5th and hammer the throttle. thats my 2cents

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
One thing i like about this is I bet competitors will try to one up hpi and more development will begin for petrol 1/8's. if setup right i think a gas engine can perform and thats saying from experience of running different fuel in a larger scale 2stroke (kx500) hats off to hpi, way to keep this hobby alive

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
ORIGINAL: Dale Gribble I know it was wishful thinking but I was really hoping for fuel injection too. The gasser removes the nitro fuel costs which is HUGE, but if the tuning isn't simplified then it will still keep some discouraged/away. Not me mind you, but others. It has to run a custom flywheel obviously for the magnetic pickup. You can see the flywheel on the buggy/truggy platform. I am not sure if this is groundbreaking or servicing a niche market.
has me worried too, that nedle carb just isnt going to cut it for gasoline. hpi must have something up their sleeve

in short no, not without a ton of custom work. savage engine into a rustler could be done but again lots of mods. any reason you dont just use the savage as is?

RE: What's the ground clearance on the Savage X 4.6 RTR?
depends where you take the mesurement. Highest point? under the diff? ect. ground clearance doesnt mean alot between different nitro mt's, they arnt rock crawlers. they are meant to hit terrain at speed

"3000mAh NiMH" theres your problem your settup is good for up to 6s lipo. I would get at least 30c 5000mah or you may have heat problems. also not sure what lipos fit the e-maxx trays but hobbyking batteries are the way to go

RE: E-Maxx brushless upgrade upgrade
esc isnt the limiting factor on batteries, it comes down to how much amps your motor is going to draw at the desired rpm range you plan to run it at. doesnt hurt to overkill tho. what voltage do you plan to run?

RE: HPI Savage
Pretty much all parts are interchangeable, but they have changed some things over the years tvp changes easy access gear box and diffs flux and xl has machined carbon diffs and extra hard bulkheads, along with hd dogbones new x models have a none machined "bp" diffs xl has wide axles big bore shocks radiobox lots of different rtr engines over the years all i can think of off the top of my head. Personly i would buy a new truck, its not worth the money you save buying used unless you know the seller has babied the truck
