RE: Jetjoe 3000 turbine
We have two members in the club that I belong to who where duped by JetJoe reps to by turbines from them. One is a beginner who saved for a while to buy an engine and the other is fairly experienced with turbines. The beginner still has not had his first turbine flight even though his jet has been ready all season. Bearing failure, spitting flames that damaged the airframe, bad starter motor... Every time he came to the field, a new problem. He finally threw the garbage in the trash, sold the jet and is back to flying props. The more experienced guy got tired of having to send his engine back and forth and never get to fly. That engine now sits in the bottom of his shop drawer and will never be touched again. What is really telling volumes about the engine is that none of these two guys would even think of putting their JJ engines for sale as used. They know that they where duped into buying junk, but at least they have the integrity to not have someone else having their dream of flying turbine jets destroyed. Unfortunately, there will always be someone who will believe the marketing or some dishonest sales guy and end up buying this garbage. I'm all for cheaper turbine options, but JJ is one company to stay away from. Period.

Cool paint scheme Spence. It would be nice if Skymaster would offer a sliding canopy option for the F-86. That would make a great kit even better

Wow, 125 degrees according to the guy with the digital thermometer in the photo. Makes AZ look nice and cool. Did I understand from my translation program that one guys air tank exploded due to the heat and damaged his plane?

RE: New JetJoe J-Junior 4lbs turbine
I think the real issue that most of us have with Jet Joe is the following: 1: It is a verified piece of crap engine 2: New turbine pilots who come to this site for advise may read the shills from JJ reps and actually end up spending hard earned cash on this junk, and then never get to actually experience the fun of turbine flight

Why would anyone go to a war zone to fly model airplanes? Time for the JWM people to find a new host country. Israel was a bad choice to begin with.

RE: FeiBao making a A-10 Worthog?
Yes, I was there for a couple of hours Friday to spectate. My plan was actually to order a SU27 from you until I saw the plane. The FB jets are nice sport scale jets, but not anywhere near the descriptions we have read here. I think someone said the SU was more detailled than the Comp ARF MIG29, so I was interested. Here is what I saw. Poorly fitting parts, gear doors and scale details. Poorly hidden control linkages. The leading edge slats on the F16 had massive control hinges visible. Poor engineering IMO Holes for wing bolts all drilled through top of the fuse. These should be hidden in wheel wells or underneat the model Plain surfaces with generic detail. Nothing we have not seen before and definetely not something that can me described as better than the competition Poor fitting of hatches and cockpits Poor scale outline on MIG21 and MIG15 So, I was not impressed at all and decided to order a MIG29 from SkyMaster instead. Again, just my observation. I'm sure the models have improved from earlier, but it still is the bottom of the barrel in my opinion. But, progress is good, and if the factory listens to customer complaints, eventually the product will be acceptable.

RE: FeiBao making a A-10 Worthog?
ORIGINAL: rcjetmodels
ORIGINAL: Ali Come on Stig! Do you really think FB could make an A-10 to look like that? [8|] Thats a Mibo one for sure and a typo. I bet my house on it [:D] Regards Al
You are right, it's a typo because Fei Bao is not making any A-10, but if we decide to do, it'll not be like any other, will be better. After the new releases of the 1/7 F15E, Mirage F1, 1/6 F16, Sukhoi SU27, Fei Bao raised the bar in quality, scale and finishing, who had attended Florida International Jets knows what I'm talking about, Fei Bao will release maybe 6 new planes next year including the Thunder project and the A-10 is not in that list.
Wagner, not trying to start a war, but when you say that Fei Bao has raised the bar in quality and scale, who do you compare the models to? SkyMaster models are far more scale than FB, and their quality is far better. BVM models are way more scale than FB and FB can only dream of getting even close to that standard. The Mibo A10 is lightyears ahead in quality over FB. Just curious what bar they raised, other than their own production standards maybe Again, no war intended, just curious what you mean

RE: JETCENTRAL OR JET CAT
It is a known fact that JetCentral engines overheat during the fast spool up. The sad part is that their ECU is not able to register these short spikes in temperature, so it does not shut down the engine. The result is a high number of seized turbines, inflight fires and short life span. I am sure some of the more tech savy people here can explain.

RE: JETCENTRAL OR JET CAT
There is absolutely no doubt that JetCat is a better engine that JetCentral. If someone did an unbiased test with 10 engines from each manufacturer over a 1 year period with 200 flights, jetCat would win hands down, without any doubt. But, there are two kinds of jet pilots. #1 just got into jets or is a below average pilot and puts maybe 50 ground runs and maybe 5 flights on his engine the first year. This pilot is going to be very happy with JetCentral, and will be a loyal follower on the Internet. #2 is an experienced pilot that flies his planes a lot (Like Doug & Dave and many others) A JetCentral engine is not built for this kind of abuse. 200+ flights a year and you have to fly JetCat. So, when you decide what engine you are going to buy, take a look at yourself and your flying style. Will you be burning kero or drinking coffee at the field and at events?

RE: 30 lb Class Turbine Choices - your vote?
They are all good engines, but the number one reason to get a JetCat is their electronics. So much better than the rest.

RE: Check This Out..............
I think what we are seeing here is a new way of scamming RCU members. Find someone with a good reputation (John aka Cactusflyer) and make the purchases in his name. Then show up to pick up the merchandise and pay with a fake check. The seller thinks he is dealing with a respected member of the RCU community, and will in most cases be OK with accepting a check. Very clever. Question is, are the RCU passwords secure enough or what can be done to avoid scenarios like this?

RE: TopGun Invitational DVD
I just watched the DVD again and like the footage, but "Custom soundtrack" or not, the movie is definately failing big on one issue. You can't hear the cool sounding turbines or radial engines in the flight footage. All you hear is crappy music. It seems to me that the movie was made by a non-rc person, and caters to people outside the hobby more that to actual pilots. So, you loos a lot of the wow effect you would have had combining HD video with the actual cool sound of the planes. But, overall the DVD is good and definately worth watching. It gives a good bbackground on Top Gun. But, I can't give it two thumbs up.
