RE: The Evader Coalition - T.E.C.
well of course they said that, they want to make alot of money on one order. i think just go with new shocks, bearings and some CVDs. when you break something your upgrade part. you deffinatly don't need all that aluminum

RE: which one is the better for desert?
actually buggies handle great in the sand. have you looked into the slash 4x4? it's perfect for what you want. but i'm not sure of how much money you want to spend. remember than anything other than electic will make a heck of a racket, unless you are driving in a secluded place or dune i would stay away from nitro/gasers.

lol what is HPI thinking?
[link=http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/32710/]HPI Switch?[/link] i first thought, ooo smart car. then i realsized it is FWD. which is cool and all but seriously. why that body? then i saw some videos..... this thing seems to be very poorly designed or maybe it was just the setup in the video. it has old school non-oiled filled shocks (like older tamiyas) and has about 60 degrees of wheel play (left to right) on the passenger side front. look at this [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NohcWDmVf9I]video[/link] r/c on the cheap, thanks HPI

RE: is duratrax on a caffine buzz or what?
i'm telepathetic, i just know these things. no i tell me how the kits are set up. plus i've seen the youtube vid of a mini slash and it didn't impress me at all. it had very poor CG and very poor steering. the brakes work O.K. there is a reason cmpanies havn't made a laydown shock vehicle, they just don't perform as well, they can be extremely complicated and they are more expensive to make and design.

RE: questions to prepare for winter driving:D
really i didn't know you could run brushless in water. ya, you should be able to get plastic dip from a hardware store pretty much any home store will have it too. an ESC is an electronic speed controler. they are between your motor and your radio. the also connect to the battery

RE: Are they any good?
have you looked at tekin or quark? this is not the way to go if your are on a budget but these companies make GREAT esc and tekin makes outstanding motors. otherwise i would either wait for the sensored mamba max system to come out or i would go with a mamba max/VXL combo paired with a 2s lipo. and yes i have heard decent things about lrp systems, best of all most of them are waterproof. maybe go with a lrp esc and vxl motor and be waterproof

RE: is duratrax on a caffine buzz or what?
get the detta, it has adjustable shocks and turnbuckles unlike the traxxas vehicles and as far as i know, the 4wd slash is top heavy. i'm not sure if the detta sc is topheavy but i doubt it more than the mini slash. also the charger and battery the slash come with are not what i would call "ideal". you would end up replacing both anyway. that being said the detta does come with a 2.4ghz radio and a 1 year warranty on all stress tech parts. tower has the detta sc listed at $220+S&H but remember, this price may come down. i would look for a detta sc on ebay or gently used. but i am willing to say that it will be better than the mini slash.

RE: questions to prepare for winter driving:D
go out and get a can of plastic dip. aerosal or liquid form doesn't matter. also get some silicone sealant, make sure it is very thick stuff. servo: take off the top and out some silicone around the spot where the horn goes through the case. then take your plastic dip and go around the edges of your servo where the case joins together. don't forget the screw holes. ESC: plastic dip the edges like with your servvo. if you have large gaps for water to get in use the balloon method instead. (make sure your temps will not melt the balloon) otherwise, void the warrenty on the case and use this stuff called "liquid tape" to seal your esc. make sure not to seal off your heatsink fins. RECEIVER: put it in a balloon and use some of the silicone at the open end to seal it. check this every couple of runs to make sure it is still sealing. motor: brushed: it will work in snow no matter how wet it gets. always clean it out and relube the bearings just like any other run. brushless: don't play in the snow! hope this helped, and remember to always relube your bearings and DW40 metal parts after every run to ensure they don't rust.

well, they have an account here. they sent me a pm on rcuniverse. i want to now what rcuniverse can do to get rid of this person. i really don't care about calling the FBI or anything. i'm just frustrated that that type of people would take advantage of kids on these forums. and i know that if they asked the right person they might get what they want so i want to end this now.

RE: The Evader Coalition - T.E.C.
you are really taking a rish with that SV2 though. every one talks about how good they are but i got one and i think it is a piece of junk. but for how much it costs it isn't that bad. also if you do get one get the one with bearings and treat it well. these are the two things i failed to do which might have been why it toast itself. i now run a checkpoint money (19t) and it is faster and has more torque than the SV2 and a 17t fireball.

RE: Sand Dune rc on a budget
any platform will work, but i see you live in WA. you do get snow up there right? well then you may want to look into 4wd cars since 2wd will do nothing in the snow. if it is too slow, you can always just upgrade the motor to the vxl. also have you seen the traxxas slash 4x4. i'm thinking this will be perfect for you since it is fast, can handle sand, and is 4wd. but they don't come out till.....December or later

RE: NEVER EVER BUY LOSI CHARGERS!!!
just spend the big bucks and get a Hyperion. we all have our opinions but i got a Hyperion and i will never buy anything else. these are top notch charges with no bugs. imagine if traxxas field tested their vehicles and strengthen parts that break a lot. their new line of charges can charge pretty much anything too, but you'll pay a pretty penny for one of those

RE: I just screwed up my tire
you can boil the tire in water to de-activate the CA, but you will most likely find a ripped foam. if you have never boiled tires before follow [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gISoDFXOuCI]this guide[/link]

RE: snow!!
to me it sounds more like a transmitter/receiver problem. the fact that the light isn't working doesn't mean much. i know this sounds stupid but are you sure you transmitter batteries are good? do you have any other ESC's you could try out? try switching your ESC plug and the servo plug at the receiver and if you can A: turn the wheel to get motor response B: move the trigger and get servo response if A than you can narrow it down to a transmitter/receiver problem. since we changed the esc to channel 2 when you turn the wheel it should control the motor if B than it is an ESC problem. since we switched these and nothing is different (besides the servo is controlled by the trigger and vise versa) and can rule out the transmitter/receiver. if it is indeed B than i would give traxxas a call.

RE: The Evader Coalition - T.E.C.
make sure you get [link=http://www.maxamps.com/MA-5000-7Cell-Flat.htm]this[/link] pack. after you get it find out how much room it is going to take up, then cut your foam block to fill the rest of the space. (unless you don't care if the pack gets wet, having no block will allow for better cooling) then you should be set. as for the fan. you most likely won't need one if you ESC is in an area that gets alot of airflow. if you don't get enough try cutting a hole in the windshield or move the ESC to a better spot. otherwise any old fan will work. (ex: computer fan, aftermarket fans, maybe a vxl fan?)

RE: DANMIT~!!!!!!!!!! SLASH 4X4
[quote]ORIGINAL: traxxas4ever i was really hoping for something new too. what happened to these companies. all they are making is new models of th cars they already have. if you were to ask me the only reason the slash was a big hit was because it was the first new idea in a while. traxxas just keeps making new cars with their new brushless systems in it and calling them new. however they arent new at all. i bet most people have brushless slashes. the only difference is 4wd [/quote] and what do you suggest they make? they just re-defined the mini world and while they weren't "new" trucks, nothing had been made like that before. you say traxxas just puts new motors in and slaps a name on it, well they aren't putting a new name on it, they are puting the letters VXL nex to it to show that is already had the aftermarket brushless motor in it. this is saying to comsumers "hey, buy me and save in the long run" it is actually very smart of traxxas to do this. if you think about it they already have a class for pretty much anything. they have 2wd electric: rustler rustler vxl bandit bandit vxl stampede stampede vxl slash 4wd electric: e revo e revo BE e maxx summit slash 4x4 4wd mini: e revo e revo vxl slash 4x4 slash vxl 4x4 nitro 2wd: sport rustler stampede jato s-maxx nitro onroad: 4-tec nitro 4x4 t-maxx revo revo platinum slayer marine: blast villain EX so really when you think about it, it is pretty outstanding that they still fin ways to make new trucks. not just one they copy from an other. if they put laydown shocks on (revo style) than everyone would say, o it's just another revo with smaller tires. they in fact over designed this truck. notice it can handle a MMM on 6s? notice the new beefy drivetrain parts. the only thing this shares with its 2wd partner are the shocks and tie rods.

Have you though about turning the rear shock tower around, and switch the turnbuckles to the other side (ditto with the shocks) then start to notch you tower until you can get the tranny to fit. may the power of the dremel be with you

yes that was me, i've been waiting to do a rebuild for almost 6 months now but ever since mine stripped my diff has been superglued together. lol if you could have seen my diff gear. the balls had melted through their holes and my diff was more of a huge bearing with teeth than a gear. so i superglue it all together. i would love to have one, i just sent you a PM.

RE: What would be a fair price for this?
i'd say......$140-150 now if you cleaned it up and maybe replaced some wear parts or did some other performance upgrades like adjustable links, aftermarket suspension. and then you cleaned it up real nice by hiding some wires and finding some other way to mount stuff other than zipties and velcro. well then i would say $180+

RE: Strange Mini DT Problem
it shouldn't be the antenna if you steering still responds to input. does the throttle respond to any input, like if you give it more gas it will increase speed or can you get the wheels to go into reverse. try re-reading the manual to see if you reprogrammed it right. also i'm not sure what radio you have but are you sure you didn't touch the trim settings? if you still can't get it to work than i would either call losi and see what they have to say or take it down to your lhs and see if the can test it in something else. how did you old servo die? maybe it wasn't the servo but the esc/receiver.

RE: Sand fire or Desert storm dune buggy?
i seriously considered this a while back. best place to buy parts-FLEABAY. no doubt about it you can get whole stampede rears for $25. i would have done this too if my setup wouldn't have cost of $500. lets just say i wanted a quark 125a, 5s lipo, and one big motor. hehehe (i wanted to break 70mph) but i gave up on it after i saw the estimated cost. basically the desert storm is a 4 seater sand rail and the sand fire is a 2 seater dune buggy. personally i would get the desert storm because it will be more stable and it won't wheelie as easy. (with that much traction it's almost too easy)
