RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
ORIGINAL: frieshoo Looks like APC 15x4W is my favorite prop, to this point. I put 6 more flights on the Mojo yesterday, and vertical performance is pretty good. The motor is transitioning better from 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. I'm able to transition from inverted harrier to hover, without worrying about loss of power (due to poor transition around mid stick). The JC super props load the engine too much IMO. Maybe when it gets more time on it.
Ive been reading through this thread . Havent been on this forum in a couple years(moderators arent cool) . Was wondering if you have any vids on the Mojo with a JBA on it and pics . I have heard very mixed reviews on this motor . The weight is more than the dle20 and the HP has to be wrong . Your thrust looks real good though . I took my saito72 out of my mojo and put it in a chinnyak . Was also wondering how it balanced with 30oz. in the nose . I like to fly with a neutral balance .

RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
ORIGINAL: kom73 just did a once over to try to figure out why I ended up in a swamp this morning. Flex exhaust was broken, but I thought maybe that was from impact. Half a tank of fuel and when I tried to draw it out I got nothing but air.  I thought, that's got to be it. Took out the tank and the clunk was flipped back. Inspected everything and no leaks in any of the tubes. I found the plane nose down in a pile of cattails with no damage except a scratch on the cowl. Im going back to my original thought that it had to be the exhaust. There is no way any manuver I was doing would cause the clunk to get flipped around. That had to have happen when it went in. I'm scratching my head, any thoughts??? I guess I should be happy that nothings wrong with the plane, but I want to ensure it doesn't happen again. The flex exhaust is out, no more. Going to go right off the 90 to my muffler and maybe a dubro deflector. I really did like the way that flex exhaust kept the plane clean.
Not sure what you mean by clunk was flipped back . If the fuel line hooked up to the clunk is bending this would be a big problem . I have a Saito 115 mounted inverted and have never had a dead stick . Knock on Wood . I have a 90deg elbow on mine and a cheap hobbico extension on the stock muff . Keeps most the oil off but not all . Mostly just the bottom of the fuse gets oily . Might have your tuning off a little . Check out this thread . Not sure what your knowledge is as to tuning a motor but heres a great link to lots of info . I put all the good stuff on page 1 with links so you dont have to do a lot of digging to find something . http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1075443 Check your clunk for foriegn objects . Try a different fuel filter . Remove needles and clean carb and check for foriegn objects . My 115 quit drawing fuel a month ago . Ended up being a filter . I even filter fuel going into the tank from my can . Crap still gets in there somehow .
ORIGINAL: AraTidwell All up weight RTF was 4lbs 15.1 ounces
Is that wet or dry on the weight ? I was trying to tell people this . Look at the weight on the plane . 5.25lbs . The .55ax you want to keep the weight under 5lbs , preferably under 4.5lbs for 3d . Saito 100 is what this needs . But it might not balance right . The saito 82 will give you a little better torque and you can swing a 13x6 or 14x4 .

How about this motor . http://valleyviewrc.com/JBA%2015cc%20Gas%20Engine.htm I think the manufacturer is full of crap on the specs . They said 29oz with everything . I saw on another thread people said almost 37oz when they weighed the engine , muffler and ignition . I have to say 3.2hp can't be correct . A 15cc enigine putting out .7hp more than a 20cc engine . Hard to believe . The vids on it being run up on a test stand look cool and it does look like it pumps out some power . I wouldn't mind trying one of these on a slab . Maybe it would work well on the .60-.90 size profile . This would eliminate any mounting problems since the carb is in front . The questionable weight makes me hessitate though due to balance issues on the profiles .
ORIGINAL: AraTidwell Well I've ordered the blue 46-60 size and I already have a OS55AX I'm going to try running on the stock muffler. I think she will fly great. AC has a lot of wing area, 50 squares more than the Mojo / Primo. The 60-90 size ProX260 looks like it may be a little heavier though but with that thick wing I am sure it will fly good never the less, but I'm going to have a friend build me a Primo 60 so I'll have the best of both worlds. I wish Aeroworks did a video that showed more 3d flight, I think they were trying to demonstrate its stability for a profile in their video. Anyhow I am sure they will fly as good as they look. That thick wing outta make her float 3d.
That Primo 60 will be great . You'll love it . I don't know that the .55ax is going to be enough . That works fine on a slab up to 5lbs . The AeroWorks 46-60 slab weights as much as the Primo 60 and it takes a Saito 100 to throw the Primo around good and to have descent pull out power . Airbourne2.4 , I would like to know what the plane is that Jodi is flying . Forget the yahoo's that think you have to stick to one subject all the time . There are way too many thread Nazi's on RCU . Considering we are talking about sticking the DLE20 on a slab I thank you for the vids . Cool stuff putting gas on a slab .

If you look at the specs you see there both the same weight . Then that means the .75 is obsolete . Buy the .95ax . Or save 7oz. by getting a Saito 100 . It used to be a 2oz difference between .91fx and the saito100 . Now with the huge powerbox on the ax it adds 7oz .

RE: 46 and 60 Extra 260 Freestyle! VIDEO ADDED!!
Dont know why anybody would buy a .75ax . The motor is a joke . Look at the specs on it and compare it to the .91fx . The .75ax weights quite a bit more and puts out less ponnies . The muffler is a tank alone but how the motor runs was designed around this heavy item . Cant figure out what OS was ever thinking on that motor . I have an aeroworks Edge 540t and it was a dog on verticles and pullouts with the .75ax compared to the Saito115 that is on there now . All the Bro's are running .55ax's , Saito 72's and Saito82's on 4-4.5lbs profiles . Looking at the weight on the 40-60 size aeroworks profile I would suggest nothing less than a Saito 100 . Its too heavy to be considered a .40 size bird just like the Edge504t . That DLE20 looks SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tips heggen . My wing fits really tight and the canopy doesn't go on good so I know stuff wasn't quite assembled correctly . Just don't know how much it could be off . Have to see if any friends has one of those meters . Ro347 , post some pics . You already have the right idea . Cut some plywood and use tri-stock for rienforcement . RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
ORIGINAL: heggen I was right. The wing incidence was off - way off. I messed with the wing and moved the leading edge up 7/16'' of an inch. The wing had nearly 2 degrees of negative incidence. All of my measurements now show that the thrust line is at zero, the wing is a zero, and the stab is at zero. Went out to test fly on a beautiful, calm, sunny day and found a different flying airplane. I did need to put in about 5 clicks of up elevator to get it to fly level but that was a long shot from the 1/4'' of up trim used before. The plane is balanced at 3 1/4'' so I can move that back a bit. I am surprised no one else has had this problem as this plane was a production airplane, unmodified by me until after I confirmed my measurements were correct. I can't imagine I am the only one who ran into this problem. During assembly, everything fit perfectly so it wasn't an error in only one part. I am not cutting down Aeroworks. From what I have heard, they have a great product and stuff happens. I would buy from them again. I just want to let others know if they are having a similar problem as I have described earlier, do an incidence check. The CG is going to be moved back some more and then I am going out and have fun, fun, fun with this great little plane.
I have my CG at about 4" . If my inccidence was off I wouldn't know any better . I would just figure the planes a pile of crap . How do you check it ? John3d , Thats weird hearing that sound out of a .60 size airframe . Looks cool though . I want to see some 3D stuff with it . Mine doesnt hover well . I think I need more right thrust . Maybe my incidence is off [:D]. It flys good though .

RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
ORIGINAL: heggen I have been flying my Aeroworks Edge and have not been able to overcome the ''tail heavy'' condition that seems to exist. Earlier, I wrote that I believed my Edge had some built in downthrut which I countered with about two degrees of up thrust because when I chopped throttle from wide open, the airplane would climb. That seemed to help. I have moved the rudder servo back to the tail and secured the battery pack just in front of the TE of the wing to bring the CG back to 3 1/2'' behind the leading edge. Regardless the Edge still flies with up trim. That just ain't right. I had written earlier about this and have since learned that my earlier measurements were flawed. Must have bumped something when I was measuring with the incidence meter and have now learned that the wing is at about 1 1/2 degrees negative incidence. The stab and engine thrust line are 0 - 0, but the wing is at a negative incidence! It is nothing I have built in. That is the way the fuse was cut from the factory. To be sure, I measured repeatedly under different methods of measurments, i.e., levels, tri-square, rulers, incidence meter, and combinations of. It all comes out the same - negative 5/16'' wing incidence. My curiousity is, are all of you who are moving the CG back experiencing the same flying traits. Has anyone checked the incidence of their wing relative to the stab and thrust line? I am am planning to drop the trailing edge of the wing about 5/16'' at the trailing edge. This will bring everything to 0 -0 -0 where I expect it should have been. I have to say, even with this horrid misalignment, the Edge with a Saito 91 is a nice flying airplane. Can't wait to hear your comments and also to get this thing back in the air.
Wouldn't mess with the wing . Hard to believe it could be off . If you read through the thread you'll see they all are nose heavy . The CG should be at 3 3/4- 4" . How anyone could ever put a .46 on this and get it to balance is beyond me . This is a 60-90 airframe in my opinion . Move the battery behind the wing and the elevator servo to the tail and you should be good to go . Look at the pics in this thread . Lots of modifying going on on this bird . It does fly well when all said and done though .

They have not shown it off at any big flying events or there would be footage . Not to mention this thread is only a page long . If I had something that was the schiznik I would be showing it off and trying to get some hipe behind it . Pretty poor marketing especially in this economy . These are the guys that purchase profiles . If you got something good stand up for it . You have some disbelievers out there. They think weight is everything .
