Swaybar for the Redcat Lighting??
Has anyone come across or know of a manufacturer who makes a swaybar system that fits the Redcat Lightning. I noticed the Lighting I have has places for the installation of a swaybar on the rear end and front end. Any know?

RE: Pictures of your redcats and other rides
Well my Hurricane XP has a Dynamite Mach 26SS in it as I swapped out the SH .28 that came with it. My TUW has 8 GPM T/E MAXX blue aluminum shocks with a OS.18 engine. The wheels are Junfac 2.2" beadlocks with blue 19mm wheel wideners.[:D] Also I use an aluminum clutch in my TUW with the Volcano gear reduction transmission to give it more torque for offroading, it isn't fast but it can crawl over just abou anything half its height!!!!

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
BTW guys on a previous post in this forum I posted this subject: On another note, I have found some 3 to 4 shoe clutch designs that fit SG shaft engines, if you guys are interested, below are some links: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBZT6&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD218&P=7 FYI even though OFNA told me their clutch kit will fit it doesn't, so dont waste your money buying these kits to upgrade from a 2 shoe clutch to a 3 shoe clutch. I think I might try to tap 3 holes on the stock flywheel and then buy a clutch nut that will accept 3 clutch shoes and springs. I will let you know how this endeavor goes!!

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
You know Uhoo I was thinking the samething when I bought these beadlocks. They have so d**n many holes in the them they look like they might break if severly abused. I should probably drill some holes in the wheel itself as I haven't done so in experimenting with tires with pressure and tires without pressure. As for the hubs Eminent they are cheap to replace, they are currently the most common break point on my TUW, but if I every need to I guess I could go aluminum.

The Firestorm body might fit right out of the box, but the Hellfire body won't as it is a 1/8th truggy. However if you do get the bodies, you can always just drill out new holes to make it fit!![:)]

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
Ya ya you could!! However I would be careful about how much wider you make the truck going out from the front and rear hubs. The wider you make it, the more stress will be applied to the wheel spindle and may cause it to bend or break. However this is just my opinion an my not actually happen. Just some after thoughts!!

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
The wheel wideners as Junfac.com calls them are blue anodized 19mm...D type. Here is a link to Junfac.com about the wheel wideners I bought: http://www.junfac.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=193 You have to buy the 19mm or 13mm wheel widener to fit the Junfac beadlock rims. To bolt them on, they come with a specific type of bolt just for that purpose, look at the pic below: Other than that that's it, pop them on and you are ready to go!! I lost a little bit of acceleration but not anything to really note, however once I figure out what 3 shoe clutch will fit my OS.18 or get another set of aluminum clutch shoes, that loss of acceleration will vanish.

RE: new lightning
Ok edward what you need to do is buy some new parts. Those parts are a new a new 2 speed clutch bell and two pinion gears for that clutch bell, here are the web links to those parts respectively: http://www.rcplanet.com/HPI_Threaded_Clutch_Nitro_3_p/hpi86039.htm "HPI Threaded 2 Spd Clutch Bell 12MM Nitro 3" http://www.rcplanet.com/HPI_Threaded_Pinion_Gear_Speed_Nitro_3_p/hpi76978.htm "HPI Threaded Pinion Gear 18Tx12MM 2-Speed Nitro 3" http://www.rcplanet.com/HPI_Aluminum_Threaded_Pinion_p/hpi76983.htm "HPI Aluminum Threaded Pinion Gear 23T Nitro 3" In addition you can change out the spur gears on the two speed transmission to increase top speed, however make sure the is a difference of 5 teeth between the low and high speed spur gears that you choose. For instance 55/60 or 35/40 and so on with the number indicating the number of teeth on the gear. What you want to do is make pinion gears as big as you can make them and the spur gear as small as you can make them. SO for instance a pinion gear of 15/20 and a spur gear set of 38/43 will not be as fast as say a pinion gear of 18/23 and a spur gear set of 43/48. Also the pinion gear set must maintain a difference of 5 teeth as well between the two gears you choose to install to maintain proper syncronization with the spur gear set. What you can also do is port and polish the sleeve of the VX.16 that came with your car, if it's a nitro powered car that is. If so read this forum post and do as it says: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5226191/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm If it's electric powered there are a few things you can do to increase top speed. One buy a new battery pack that provides a higher voltage, which in turn will have more batteries. So for example a 6 cell battery pack will provide 7.2 volts and an 8 cell battery pack will provide 9.6 volts. The more volts the pack can provide the faster your car will go. However make sure the ESC, Electronic Speed Control, of your lightning can handle that much voltage. Also you can change out the springs and brushes on a electric brushed motor to increase top rpm or increase low end torque. What I suggest you do is read this link, it will provide you with alot of information you need to know, and then get back with me: http://www.rcracingusa.net/electricmotor.htm Haha so much information I know, but this is what you need to know to get that speed you want. Auf Wierdersehen!!!

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
First of all eminent, torque is different than horsepower. You can't make torque and horsepower the samething, all though horsepower is a direction corrollation of torque produced at a given rpm. Second yes one can judge torque in relation to displacement as more volume is given to power production per stroke of the piston. In this way, for instance, a 3.0L car engine will produce less torque than a 6.0L engine. For example the OS.18 has a 15mm stroke/16mm bore and the VX .18 has a 14mm stroke/16.5mm bore. So in basic operation of engine mechanics, the OS.18 will produce more torque (longer stroke) and the VX.18 will achieve a higher rpm because it has a shorter stroke. In addition port timing for both intake and exhaust can affect engine performance for two stroke engines. Now don't get me wrong, please read my above post in which I stated I did have to replace my aluminum shoe clutch with a nylon one and hence the reason why I possibly wasn't seeing an increase in bottom end torque. Nylon does not grip as well as aluminum does. Also as you said the OS TZ produces significantly more horsepower over the OS CV-RX, even though they have the same displacement, because it has a slide carberator and rear exhaust both of which increase engine efficiency. Now I am NOT giving the OS.18 a bad rap, I am sure it produces more power over the VX...if it didn't I wouldn't have bought one. But as for a BIG difference in power production the OS.18 doesn't really have that much more over the VX.18 as say the OS TZ does. While I am at it did I say the OS.18 has a bigger carberator opening as well... omg that thing is huge!!!!! Anyway what I wanted to give was evidence to prove the OS.18 did produce more power over the VX.18...hell forums are FULL of people's opinions..however they do most often lack factual evidence. BTW eminent please spit out my head and give it back to me, I can see you chewing on it!!![:)] On another note, I have found some 3 to 4 shoe clutch designs that fit SG shaft engines, if you guys are interested, below are some links:[:D] http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBZT6&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD218&P=7

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
Well you have to remember what is perceived and what is actual is totally two different things. I believe it's a better engine, in my opinion, and from what research I have done in regards to it(don't mean to be overly PC here); but I don't have factual evidence to prove my opinion. Also take into account that an aluminum shoed clutch will proved a better grip than a nylon shoed clutch. If the OS.18 has more torque, it might cause the nylon shoe clutch to slip more...

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
Well its sounds and seems like it has more power. The OS .18 definitely has a smoother power band and its more efficient with fuel. When it runs out of gas the car is out of gas, on the other hand my VX.18 would have intermittent running when the gas tank was getting low. The OS seems to have a better upper rpm range power but I can't tell as for low end torque as I had to swap out an aluminum shoed clutch and slap in some nylon. To bad I don't have a dyno to get solid numbers. But in all out basics, the torque of the OS.18 probably isn't much more over that of the VX.18 as they both have the same displacement. More to come....

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
Seriously Uhoo, I wouldn't put in aluminum C-hubs to replace the plastic one you broke. It's actually a good idea to design a break point into your car. Usually one would want it to be the weakest link the chassis, which so happens to be the C-hub. Also the C-hub is one of the cheapest parts to replace. If you install aluminum C-hubs then next time you break something it will probably be the differential housing which is more expensive to replace. WHat I have told you I have done also with my Tsunami Ultra-wide and it works just right. It's better to break plastic parts then bend aluminum.[:D] Just a side note for those who do have a TUW I have found some aluminum parts that will replace the rear axle carrier and the front steering hub and they come in black and blue respectively. Below are links to those items:[:)] http://www.liquidrc.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=35604 "Blue Alum. RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread
I was thinking a bigger engine doesn't always equal more speed. Bigger engines do give more torque, and have lower rpms, in contrast to smaller engines and smaller engines usually produce higher rpms which generates a higher top end. So if one installs a bigger engine, one will have to install a pinion gear with more teeth to get the top end one desires. In addition with the torque that comes with a bigger engine the drive train will be under more stress and greater chance of breakage.
