RE: Sportsman Avaiation Ryan STA
I put on some metal struts and flew it again today. About 10 months between flights. The struts held up well. So did the wing.[8|]

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
I have a big honkin AXI F3A motor and a Spit with the stripes and one piece stab. I also have a Benedini sound system, still not sure if i will put it in that or my 72" KMP Hurricane. Still have my first with an OS120 4stroke. Off topic... The electric pc9 must sound realistic, I went to a Jet fly and there was a Raven with a Wren turboprop and it sounded just like a big outrunner. Electric is cheap compared to a turbine.

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
I use a lot of up trim for launch then trim it down for hi speed then give about 4 clicks up for landing.

Looks real nice and scale. Mine weighed 4 1/2 lb with a 3 cell lipo. I like the struts and flying wires!

RE: Sportsman Avaiation Ryan STA
I was talking about flying the little Ryan. What batteries are you running that makes it so heavy? I used a TP 4200 3 cell and thought it flew light. Now that its on glow fuel it still flies like it has light wing loading. Any pics of yours?

RE: Sportsman Avaiation Ryan STA
Finally got around to flyng it again. Dusted it off after flying twice for about 25min total 20 plus landings and about half of those made big smiles on my face. Looped it a couple of times and wings are still on. This Byron Ryan has more scale width gear. If it gets too far out of shape it does a nice/scary crow hop.

I have 2 of these ARFs 72" I'm thinking about selling one. Price would be $350 plus shipping. Might put it up on RCU in a couple of weeks.

RE: YT KMP Hawker Typhoon
I was considering selling mine til I got a used G38 recently and think that it will work out well, it has a magneto and a big flywheel and weighs about 5 LB. Would turn a 3 blade too. Fits within the cowl compltely. Too bad it sounds like a big weed whacker.

Mine is hanging on the garage wall. I've been thinking about dusting it off and flying it again for old times sake. I have never put on my wheel pants. Don't plan on using them.

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
I pulled my new Spit out to check if it has one or two piece stab and it has a one piece. So I guess it is a V2, it has invasion stripes. The glass feels as thick as my V1 Spit. So lucky for me. I feel bad for those with the 2 piece stab.

The airplane is not crappy just the landing gear and servos. Fix Or Repair Daily. In the air its impressive.

RE: Banana hobbie's new f18
you can get the exact same thing at Banana Hobby for $219. You can throw away the retracts and still be ahead of the game. It's the ARF version.

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
Was this a V1 or V2 Spit with invasion stripes? It seems that all the trouble with structural failures is happening with the V2 Spits. Scary, because I have one in the box in my garage. My old V1 Spit is as strong as a battleship. Just needs more rake on the gear.

RE: Banana hobbie's new f18
I got one, wish I had seen all the fourms before I pulled the trigger. I got it within a week all in good shape. I think Amy put a rush on it. Don't know where my free $80 overnite shipping uprade went though. Pete, better get that deal off the website or start shipping with free overnite, or you will PO more customers. You know, I had an Art-tech su-27 (what a dog) from Hobby-lobby and the elevators in the instructions were called tail rudders. Language barrier? I wasn't expecting Tamjets quality but was still disapointed to find the same Starmax/Art-Tech servos. I had to replace half the servos in my SU27, Hobby Lobby was swamped by requests for replacement servos. I won't trust this plane to those garbage servos. Some of them are chattering already. So now I am investing annother big chunk of change for Hitec 65's and 65mgs. I even had to work on the esc deans knockoff just to get it to mate with the supplied battery plug or any other deans connector. I just hope the esc doesn't fry like some others have. The plane has lots of potential but I feel it was way over priced for what it is. I'd like an f18 V2 if they come out but might hold off unless I got a healthy discount for beta testing this one. It's a shame that Chineese companies like Starmax and CMP are screwing their distrbutors with shoddy workmanship and poor hardware, then the distributor gets the bad rep. Banana Hobbies still must improve its end of the chain too. Guess I'll go paint my rockets and bombs while I wait for my servos to come.

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
You just have to shop around some to find decals. I was lucky to score an Ultrafly F16 that I am robbing the Thunderbirds decals from and giving the plane to my grandson to build with a brushed pusher prop setup. I see you are from IL. Slot and Wing in Champaign has the biggest decal and sticker collection I've ever seen. On a similar subject, as I remember, water based spraypaint used to be easy to find, however I can't find it anywhere now. I have heard about Krylon H2O but nobody around here carries it. Does anybody know...........

RE: WORLD MODELS AT6 TEXAN 72"
Don't worry about the World retracts they hold up well and are way better than H9 and VQ's. I have even bought set of WM retracts for my VQ Sea Hurricane. You could enlarge the wheelwells to fit bigger tires. This plane is hard to noseover and if it does it will sit right back down on its tail.

Yea, my firewall broke when I crashed it as an electric. After repair it has held up well with the FS 40. It sure is an easy lander. One of my wing struts has broken I need to find some better material.

I like the Saito gasser too. Will it fit lengthwise? It looks pretty long. I wouldn't want a big spinner gap. Its nice and heavy! I'm going to go with bombs not rockets and want cannons as soon as someone starts selling them. All the Tiffs you guys are making are sure lookin good!

RE: WORLD MODELS AT6 TEXAN 72"
I used silicone adhesive to attach the gear doors plus the screws. Then my buddy "Grandma" points out that Harvards didn't have gear doors. Well, they have stayed put for many flights and I highly reccomend its use.

RE: WORLD MODELS AT6 TEXAN 72"
This one (VQ model) Flew well but didn't land or takeoff as well as our WM AT6. It had many tragic crashes for me and its next owner. With the big 26 you will have the gear rake in your favor to prevent noseovers, but watch out for springy leg porpoise syndrome.
