RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
The detta is a heavy truck. The stock motor doesn't have much of a chance on a nice 2s lipo after awhile. The ammo is a little more puzzling though.. Could be from just too much use I guess.
ORIGINAL: jeppe317 cool, what specific neu or medusa am i looking for? i dont know anything about the sizes and kv's and stuff.
Go for a Neu 1105 or 1107. They have lots of kv choices. You can get them at castlecreations.com, products, Neu Motors, 1100 series. Neu motors are the best you can get. In the world. Make sure you get the 3.2mm shaft. The 1.5y is a good choice for 2s lipo. You may also want to look around for used motors are cheaper prices then CC has..

An upgrade over the ammo/turnigy is a medusa/neu. I don't think the mongoose is that good. Jaejw1 did a review on it. You might be able to find a review in this thread. All the Sensored motors I know of work with sensorless speed controllers. The only difference is a hall sensor.

Get the duratrax ball diff. If those gears go, consider getting the steel gears from the toyz made for the duratrax ball diff.

RE: Go Brushless.com
An hour and a half down. One stator clean. First 6 teeth took about 15 minutes. Next two teeth took about 45 minutes. Last tooth took 45 minutes and some serious concentration and anger management. There was some sort of epoxy or glue on the one tooth. That stator suffered a little damage, but I think it'll be ok. I'll start winding probably tomorrow with the 26awg wire. Turns out 26awg is probably the exact size the original windings used. I hope to be around the 1000-1200kv range. Here are some pics And I found I was geared for 75mph with the old 2300kv. RE: Go Brushless.com
Thanks man. I'll probably go for some wire I can find locally. I know I can get some at radio shack but I might check the computers stores and other places. I'll probably end up doing 22g star config. I am doing two motors. If I do the same number of turns on each motor, do you think they'll be pretty close in kv and power? One goes to each wheel so it's pretty important..

RE: Go Brushless.com
I found some at radioshack - http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2036277 Only downside is that there isn't double thick insulation. I'll have to be careful. No shipping looks pretty good. Free and you get it right away. Also when you get the ends of the wire and get ready to solder, how do you get the insulation off? Scrape it? Burn it?

RE: Go Brushless.com
Sweet! I just tried measuring the wire with my paper caliper and I got about .8mm. Possibly less. That means I have,, wow, about 22-20 gauge wire. Does that sound right? GB.com only has 26 and 28gauge wire in small spools noob wire, but they have a large spool of 22g noob wire. I might go for that and terminate star. Or would it be easier to go for the smaller wire and terminate delta?

Thanks for all the info guys! [:D] Here is my project, and it's not a plane. It's my one off micro-t speed demon. (un)fortunately, one of the motor wires came off on one of the motors Now I hope to rewind the motors. I don't know what gauge of wire to get. The stator is about 18x11mm. It's 2300kv right now, which is WAY too high; heres a link - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8478 When I drove it, it would have a very hard time starting up and syncing. Once it got movin, it was movin. One of the last runs I got to probably 40+mph and it spun out or lost range and flew almost under a guys running lawn mower.[X(] He thought I was on crack when I walked through his lawn to get it.[:)] I would like to use it inside, so half or less kv is needed. I have no clue what gauge is on there and what gauge I need. I also don't know if it's a star or delta wind, or how many turns it is. Your help is appreciated![8D]

Old thread here, but how much wire comes on the small and 1/4lb spools? How many cd-rom motors can you get out of a small spool?

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
Oh whoops, I misread your fist post. If the screws come out, then all you need is a very tiny drop of threadlock to hold the screws in. If the tires come off when the screws are still on, then you need washers. You would put the washer between the screw and the wheel so the wheel doesn't slip off. Threadlock should be all you need.

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
ORIGINAL: Zinje Thats the problem i have now but can't seem to find washers small enough.
You can find smaller washers at your local hobby shop or on a hobby website like tower. Stock up, you may find you want more once you use them for the first time. The screws are 2.6mm btw.
ORIGINAL: goreyboggs Hello, I use to have a vendetta st and now am wondering if I should get another. My main concern is about the screws that hold the tires on use to fall out on High traction surfaces. Is there an upgrade for this? I see the new vendetta has nut that hold the tires on but the st still has the same old screws. Any help would be great. Thanks!!
washers and a small amount of threadlock

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
Whatever cvds you get make sure they are for the right vehicle. If they don't say ST, ther're for the buggy. If they say ST, they are for the ST. I would recommend the duratrax ones because they are indestructable, but you could go with the cheaper ones. Never tried em myself so I can't say anything about them.

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
People have broke the cvds with nuts. It is safer to just use the regular cvds. If the wheel has a 12mm hex it should fit the detta. This would be a good thing to go to your lhs and pick out some wheels talking to the owner or an employee.

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
Just make sure the wheels have a 12mm hex. They should fit then. I remember someone using losi mini lst dish wheels and tires.. You can grind out the stops on the arms for more ground clearence. Be aware the bigger tires will put more stress on the electronics and diff gears. I would recommend gearing down a 2-4 teeth on the pinion if you don't want to burn your motor/controller/battery.

Mini inferno wheels are 8mm? Either there is an adapter made for the vendetta to fir the inferno wheels are people just used. Inferno tires on vendetta rims.

The 12mm hexes that come with the vendetta are the only ones that will work. They should allow you to just mount the inferno wheels up to the stock hexes.
ORIGINAL: Snipin_Willy Tried racing today. The 1300mah lipos would only make (1) 6 minute heat, and dumps on the last lap of the 2nd 6 minutes heat. So a 1600mah pack should make for (2) heats. Bummer for me, oh well. I'll order some more next time I need something from hobbycity. I was the only mini at the track today, as usual. Seeing as the points series is over, racing is just for fun. I was put in the mod truck class and got stomped because I couldn't make the rhythm section without wrecking. Gonna have a play day tomorrow at a different track where I can run my electric RC8T.
Can you squeese two of those 1300 packs on there?[>:]
ORIGINAL: Snipin_Willy Do the budget brushless I came up with, you wouldn't need the charger :p I thought we'd be on page 61 by now.
I may just do that. The $17 for the motor and $30 for the controller... Two BL detta buggies would be pretty rockin. However, the E-bike needs to burn more money before it's done. Gotta get some big lipos and a beastly motor for that!

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
ORIGINAL: Snipin_Willy ESC's seem hit or miss no matter which one you buy or what you're running it in. Metal, you know and have read all the issues with the MMM and tekin 1/8 speed controllers. The only ESC that seems to have proven the test of time is the mamba max. Though it had many problems at the launching date, it seems the current versions are more robust than any ESC when running within its parameters. And how would someone go by getting a MMP? Do you have a beta that you would be willing to give up [8|]?
The MM is a TANK. Just like me. [;)] jkjkjkjk[:D] Never really kept track of the MMP release... Thought it was out already. Sucks cause I don't know how to differentiate between Mamba max pro and mamba micro pro. Or is it MMP and MmP? Or MMP and mmp? I think there is always a reason for a non-defect esc failure like the smaller mambas w/ neus. Ususally too much gearing and too much stress on the esc. If one person has dirt in two little bearings, it could be the difference between a working esc and a dead one. The 8th scale escs remind me of supercars. The Mclaren F1 is a BEAST. It uses very little computer crap compared to newer cars. It is faster and better accelerating then a ton of supercars because it is so simple. I wish I could go on, but I don't know much about cars. LOL anyway I think the 8th scale escs have too many little features vs the MM.
