RE: 5b 2.0 comes with Zen engine from factory
ORIGINAL: Got_to_100_now_die_hatin Yup, thats the one I've been using. The only reason I use that one is because I kept hearing the complaints in the ''other forum'' about them blowing out the gaskets, so I didnt wanna have that issue. I've never used a paper gasket since I've been using ported motors so I couldnt tell you if they worked or not, but since reading the complaints, I didnt want to find out myself.
Head gaskets?!?!? i haven't used those in a LONG TIME!
ORIGINAL: ziggy12345
ORIGINAL: oneofakindtrini haha ''yall''... No i dont like those schumacher's... They're nice and all but with the gearing it cannot mathematically go as fast as it is marketed.
Theoretically correct but only just. I was at the testing of the fusion .28 with Phil Booth and we managed 79.6mph. Its marketed at 80mph+ Sorry I don't have a picture of the run or a video or a statement by the local police or a notification by the local notoriety or a GPS read out or a satellite photograph of the run so that Miamizclulezz believes me Just me and Phil Cheers
Need for personal attacks, as far as most people are concerned the only clueless one here is you. Don't be mad seeing as you've yet to prove anything and im not the ONLY ONE who disagrees with you. So keep my name out of your mouth.

RE: New worlds record for RC Car 163.51 mph
Forget all your other "ideas" CRAWL BEFORE YOU CAN WALK. Take your car out ASAP make a second pass CONFIRM this run before you even try to make faster runs that no one will wanna belive. You do relize that everyone who is familiar with high speed set ups don't belive for a second your speed was accurate, forget all your future plans take your car out NOW AS IS and just run 160+ again its as simple as that......Its either that or forever be known as the guy who makes up his own rules and CHEATS his way to the top...... I personally em NOT IMPRESSED with a rocket in a car, the fact you made your own rocket isn't anything new either you did not reinvent the wheel. You keep saying
"Like I said. It's so easy to strap a rocket on an rc car and do 150mph that there are hundreds of people doing it. "
Ofcourse no one is doing that it's stupid, everyone know's rockets are fast even model rockets take off at what 250+MPH??? depending on the caliber of the motors ect?? The fact you put one in a car is nothing out of this world and honestly i don't know how you have the morals to even try it, you crashed your car at suppostly 160 something mph?? do you relize you could kill a good amount of people with your little rocket car??? maybe thats why no one is building them??? maybe becuase the safety is important??? If this was a basic electric rc car crashing at 103....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyCTDsoe9d4 Can you image a rocket car packing 1,100 PSI of NOS behind it hiting a wall they same way the electric car did??? it would be a BOMB.........this is why hundrerds of people ARE NOT GOING THAT ROUTE. You try'd a million times to get your nitro car to make all these fantastic fantasy speeds and never pulled them off, as far as im concered you took the easy way out with the rocket car.
+1
+2 no offense, I'm sure it was fun, but as said above, it's basically a model rocket with wheels
+3 Nothing out of this world, to call this "worlds fastest rc" based on ONE PASS is just a joke, people have made great points on here and RCTECH on why this "record" is a joke. Ziggy doesn't care all he whan't is his 15 minuets of fame......... Im still waiting on the second pass.......

RE: New worlds record for RC Car 163.51 mph
ORIGINAL: ziggy12345 Hi When I see the video footage of the run it looks much slower than the actual run. This has been back up by everybody who was there. I dont think that anybody who actually saw the run have any doubt of the speed, however there are a number of nay sayers on the web who have bought this up so now I have proven the system my plan is to do another run with 2 speed traps, a radar gun and 2 gps installed and do at least 2 runs in the 170mph range with full unbroken video of the runs, the speed trap read outs, the radar gun read outs and the GPS read outs. I will do the same thing with the upgraded rocket when I break the 200mph mark early next year. For now I am happy with the speed registered on the speed trap as it was check about 50 times during the day against at least 2 other radar guns. The 163.51mph run was back up by the static radar gun that read 159mph. This was reading 5mph less than the speed trap all day. ROSSA recognises the run of 163.51 mph by A J Lovering on 13th September 2009 as the fastest speed for a remote controlled car. Cheers
It's funny how "ROSSA" reconize's your car as the "fastest" im sure the fact YOU started ROSSA has nothing to do with it........[8|] Not to mention that according to YOUR OWN RULES you stated on you site you need atleast 2 PASSES.
Timing device failure If the primary or secondary timing device fails the event can continue with a single device. Contestants must make a minimum of 2 runs with a correlation between the 2 run of 3% or less. The faster of the 2 runs is the accepted speed
Bending the rules for your self isnt very sportsman like. Im sorry but i don't belive your car to be the fastest RC on the planet but by all means take the car out again make a few more passes at 160+ MPH and prove me and everyone else who douts your results. PS: And another thing i just rember'd didn't NIC CASE pull 160 plus MPH on his electric car in the first ever RC event but then could not back it up becuase the car smashed into a wall and was destroy'd ??? If his ONE 160+ MPH pass could not count as offical and he had to settle on 134MPH speed from his second car..........i think the same should apply to you.
ORIGINAL: nitrohead5300 You and the Serpent King are the Sultans of speed you guys know what you are doing and you are right it is best to back up you record setting runs with a couple of passes.
Thats exactly what im trying to get at. Not to highjack the thread but here is a video of my gas outrigger on the lake doing a few passes with the GPS in it, im topping out between 70-75 MPH and when we got the GPS back to shore it read 1,312 MPH....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNkYFubj3wM [image]http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w259/garyGit/lukesgps.jpg[/image] Does that video look like 1,312 MPH to you?!??! There is always room for error no matter what speed caculating system your using......a second run in the 160+ MPH range is needed in order for ziggy to really call it offical. Ziggy did anything break on the car??? if not take it back out and make that second pass!

RE: New worlds record for RC Car 163.51 mph
ORIGINAL: nitrohead5300 Miami, Ziggy has his speed trap to validate his speed not just a video or a radar gun.
I know he has a speed trap, i saw that very clearly its just to me that 4th video the car doesnt look any faster than the other 3 runs??? i know for a fact im not the only one thinking the same thing. I completely agree that the car was in the tripple digits infact the second and third passes where very similar in speed. I just wish the car could have pulled another 160+MPH pass to make sure everything was working correctly. Speed traps,GPS, RADAR guns can all fail, ive pointed radar guns at tree's and the radar has read the tree was doing 40 MPH, ive radar cars that are FLYING down the street pulling tripple digits and radar guns have read 10 MPH, there is always room for error this is why i like to make MANY PASSES to get a good average. Just the other day i put a GPS into my gas outrigger, GPS is suppostly the most accurate thing on the market right??? well when i got the GPS back from running it around the lake it read i was doing 1,312 MPH........... thats what MACH 2??? Im not trying to start anything on here, i completely agree the car was doing tripple digits, but i don't see 163 MPH a accurate number unless there is a second pass around the same speed. Either way congrats on geting the car RUNNING and holding is line, it looks like a real handfull geting it out of the hole.

RE: Get To 100 are CY 1/5 motors any good??
ORIGINAL: SAVAGEJIM You can probably get a CY modified to perform as good and in many cases better than a Zen, but hands down, the Zen is a materially and quality-wise better engine than the CY mirrored engines. As for making them as reliable and even more reliable than a Zen, getting higher quality bearings, and other aftermarket parts allow this to happen. So it is possible to make a bullet proof CY ''Fuelie'' with after market parts and all. Now, stock CY engines are everywhere, they are sold with every single HPI 5B and 5T engines and they are decently reliable for a lower budget engine.
Agree'd 100%

RE: Grease
ORIGINAL: 46u I am looking for some grease for my transmission on my 5B for on the gears. I know about Fast Eddies grease but was wondering if any ones knows of something that is less then $17 for 2 ounces? Looking for something that will not sling off the gears. What are others using for this or similar applications.
I used fast eddie grease when i had my HPI baja a while back, It felt really good and did not bind the tranny up like thicker geases do. Even with a fair amount of greese the tranny still rolled smooth as glass. I know its not cheap but its works great.

Nitro fuel should never be outside period with in 2 or 3 days it will be pretty much worthless due to the heat outside in any shed. I keep my nitro fuel inside my house in a closet inside a box and NEVER on the floor. Nitro fuel needs to be stored somewhere with tempetures dont change drastically.
ORIGINAL: PrjctStrtFrce Excuse my ignorance yet again, but how did you hook up your fan? I'm an electric n00b, so I can not visualize it. The stock receiver is only a 2-channel, right? If one were to have a 3-channel, then can they plug the fan into the 3rd channel and control if it's on or off via remote?
ORIGINAL: pnut How are you guys running so hot? Are you running stock batteries and how do you know how hot? Is there a sensor on stock setup?
By running the gearing that comes installed on the truck with TWO batteries. Traxxas does not recommend running the installed gearing with two batteries because it can over heat easier. BUT, as long as you monitor the temperature and only run on smooth surfaces, then you will be good to go. The way we monitor the temperature is by a temperature gun.
the reciver is 4channel so i just pluged it into the 3rd channel, as far as mounting goes i jsut got a long hex screw and screwed it in threading the screw into the heat sink fins. Works great and looks clean.
