RE: Badius Owners Club III
ORIGINAL: Loubud Fern, DJ is correct. I considered reporting it to but think I'll wait to see what MinnFlyer thinks after he investigates this problem that in my opinion, I think RCKen has. Or, RCKen can stand tall and explain it himself, right here on this thread. I'm especially interested in why a pic of Hops is deleted while 12 pages about beer in Watt remains. Different rules over there? Or how about the mere mention of a popular Movie and it is deleted? Tired. Back later. (Shoot. Not plane related. Must rephrase.) Back later. Planes to build.
Take a deep breath and exhale. No one is out to get you. You posts have not been deleted by Ken and everything will be ok. I have reviewed the thread as what Mini stated above is true. So lets be adults and if you have a problem, contact lightfoot and kindly ask him why they were deleted. You will get a lot further that way I am sure. Of course we could just continue ranting and raving on a thread and eventually get yourself booted off the forum. But that would not be the course of action that I personally would choose. [image]http://meltyourfaceoff.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/tin-foil-hat.jpg[/image]

I was asked to see this, so I am posting a photo that was up for pilots (and I believe it was in the pilot package) to show the flight patterns. It is an overlay of Mac's field with the field layout.

RE: bv packs it in ?
ORIGINAL: skyhawknut That would be true Dave - but I think the point here (which has probably been lost a few pages back) is BV made it public with the very poorly worded post that is on the front page of his website. Regardless of who said what...........BV posted a very flamatory page on his website - which got people talking. I don't know why every post has the "he can do no wrong" club and the "he does everything wrong" club. Clearly every story has 3 sides.................I suspect the truth lies somewhere inbetween.
I believe your right. Had BV not posted anything publicly it would have never been made public. There was no talk about it for two weeks after the event until the question was asked on RCG regarding the note on the BVM site. My point on posting here is simply to put some of the facts out there. There will always be advocates of BV's and enemies as with any company. The simple fact is that Bob bowed up, challenged authority and was called on his bluff. This in no way discredits his products nor his efforts in the hobby. Both of which are applaudable. It does however speak to the man himself. This instance proved that the man and event are not a match made in heaven and shouldnt be shaken nor stirred again. I have been a jet enthusiast since I have been in this hobby and plenty of EDF'ers promoted the hobby well during the event. Bob Belluomini, Chris True, Corsair Nut and a few others put on a great show as always and are those that have earned respect. They are who many (including myself) look forward to seeing every year.

RE: bv packs it in ?
Not to add fuel to the fire, but here is my first hand of what happened and a variation of what RB saw. BV took his plane up and made a low pass down the length of the runway. Through the back half of the Parkflyer section and 3D section with 50CC models prop hanging and flipping around. At this point I was in line with the Parkflyer section and saw the jet come through it and the 3D section before yanking and banking into pattern. I headed in that direction. (this was relayed to me from the Flightboss and witnesses)The Flightboss spoke up to tell him to observe the 45. After the third time disregarding the flight pattern, the Flightbosses at the other ends notified the Jet coming through and Jeff (Event Organizer) told the FLB to tell him to land. Somewhere in the middle of that BV told the Flight Boss that "He would fly like he %%#$ wants too". He was told to land immediately. Could the FB have raised his voice? Absolutley. Was it warranted? In my mind after the blatant (mutiple) disregard for staff and the other pilots, yes. BV berated the FLB, staff and event right then and there. The FLB went to Jeff to discuss it so he would be aware and Jeff approached BV to discuss it. BV began berating Jeff, the FLB and the event very colorfully. He threatened to pull his donation (earmarked BVM electra) from the Raffle. Problem was he didnt donate anything and Jeff told him he couldnt take back something he hadn't given. Jeff told him he was grounded until he apologized to both him and the FLB for his abusive language and berating. BV said that he will not apologize. A bit later, BV took his plane down and flew again. With blatant disregard of the staff's decision. Jeff approached him and told him to land. More words were exchanged and Jeff asked BV to pack it up and told him the flack wasn't worth it. BV wanted to overstep Jeff and talk with Mac Hodges (owner). BV and Jeff went to talk with Mac and BV continued to berate everyone again directly too Mac. After the tirade Mac supported Jeff and Staff and suggested to BV that it was better if he packed it up and left. I have my own opinions of the man from what I witnessed, but they are not important nor relevant to the account above.

RE: Which plane is the best for the $
I have cleaned up this thread from the adhominem post. No question is a stupid one. It is a whole lot easier to pass the thread by than to post an ad hominem attack in it. Much less effort. If that fails and one feels they cant control the urge to press that submit button with their mouse...one last line of defense is available to you. It is at the top of every reply box in red lettering:
Please resist the urge to curse, flame, degrade, insult or embarrass someone in your post. We encourage the free flow of your ideas, but believe that they can be communicated (and received) much more effectively if you keep things civil. If you have to vent, take it offline. I have edited some posts to clean things up. Lets keep the conversation on topic and OFF of each other. There is some good advice that appears above any message prior to posting. It reads as below. I would suggest that if the post falls into the below category, then think twice about pushing the submit button. RE: Sim Reviews RCU Magazine
ORIGINAL: MikeL I think what would be particularly valuable for people is if you could stick in frame rates, too. I don't know if the sims themselves can output that data or if you'd have to use a frame rate tool. One of the questions that often comes up here is whether or not the software will run well on slightly aged systems, such as yours. One thing that would help people, too, is comparing the frame rates with a few different video cards. That's a bit more ambitious, however. What people often want to know is if an upgrade to their video card will produce a noticeable result. Testing a low end, medium (like you have), and higher end card would give the information some context, but obviously add time and expense to the process.
All very good ideas. The testing of different cards though is indeed a bit more ambitious and better left to other members to post their results. I have seen many members mention and post their frame rates on different cards. I will definately keep this in mind.

RE: Sim Reviews RCU Magazine
Wow, You guys are tough. First off, as a reviewer, I have no interest in writing false information about a product. I tell it like it is and leave it to the Hosting site/Mag to either print/post it or not. You would be surprised at how many times we receive feedback from distributors and manufacturers to change this or tweak that and with the exception of mis-information on my part I will not change anything and have never had an article edited after submittal that changed my feelings. I have had a few product reviews that have not gone to print because midway I refused to continue for various reasons. As a reviewer, I try and choose products that have a greater chance of yielding a positive review. Many of those choices rely on what other members have said about a product. While some products are manufacturer supplied some are offered at a lower price, but either way that has no bearing on the outcome of the article. Trust me, the amount of effort and time it takes to build, take photos, make notes, document each step twice, ensure photos came out clear, edit photos, make thumbnails, write article, proof read 18 times, spell check, write the HTML code and scripts so everything looks good, design headers images and double check article for accuracy 5-6 times... there is little to no financial benefit. We do it because we love it. If I was ever asked to pad an article to better suit a vendors product, it would be the last one I typed up.

ExtremeFlightRC Electric F3A plane the Vanquish
I posted this in pattern , but should have posted it here: Went by and saw Chris yesterday at his shop. He is about to release a new pattern F3A plane called the Vanquish. It looks great and is suprisingly large. From Extremeflightrc: SNEAK PEEK OF THE VANQUISH F3A Introducing the Extreme Flight RC Vanquish F3A! This stunning new airframe delivers laser-like precision aerobatic performance as well as the ability to fly graceful Artistic Aerobatic figures or “down and dirty 3D maneuvers. The Vanquish is a state-of-the-art performance machine which features a beautiful CAD designed structure and ultra modern construction techniques and the finest in materials to deliver a lightweight yet robust airframe. A 2 piece wing mounted on a carbon fiber wing tube makes for easy transport, even in the smallest of automobiles, and the quick access hatch makes changing out batteries quick and easy. And best of all, an experienced modeler can have this gorgeous ship ready to fly in as little as one evening! And to all you pattern competitors out there, get the competitive advantage over your adversaries by having the ability to practice your pattern schedule before work, during lunch break or on the way home at the local park or school yard with a machine that will mimic the performance of your high dollar composite ships. You’ll be surprised at the difference this can make in your scores! Wingspan: 48 inches Length: 53 inches Wing Area: 425 sq. inches Weight: 43-46 oz. with battery Power: Torque 2814/820 and Airboss Elite 45 Amp switching ESC (no extrnal BEC required for up to 5S operation) 4S 2150-2500 LiPo battery. HS-65 servos recommended with MG versions for elevator and rudder $179.95
ORIGINAL: MikeEast Yes, he can mention a new product monthly but he cannot invite you to his website.. that is against RCU policy.
The way I read it, as long as the website does not require you to log in to view the content, there is no problem with posting a link.
POSTING LINKS: Our policy on linking to other websites is pretty simple. Members may link to any other site that provides information that helps answer another member's question or is just of general interest to members of that particular forum. One of the most basic tenets of the Web is the open exchange of information, and the RCU forum managers wholeheartedly support this type of exchange. Members may NOT link to sites which require registration or membership to view the content. The only other type of linking (besides porn and spam as mentioned previously above in our rules, of course) that will not be allowed on our site is when members solicit people to leave our site to a competing service. That's just common sense. We won't allow people to use our site to promote a competing service any more than a brick-and-mortar store would allow his competitor to paste flyer's all over his walls. However, people are always welcome to link to any non competing online resource in order to share useful information with fellow members.
I took some stills while Fred was busy behind the lens getting some excellent video footage. Here are some photos to wet your wistle.
