Airtronics Crystals
I need to buy a new crystal for my 27mhz AM Airtronics radio. I can't seem to find any at towerhobbies so can i just use a different brand such as Futaba crystals. Or are there any places that sell individual Airtronic crystals? Thanks.

[quote]Also although if running too rich causes that problem, would running too hot cause the glow plug problem as well or not? [/quote] Running too lean or hot will definitely burn up the glow plugs. I would guess you are too lean over being too rich. Maybe there is an air leak somewhere as well since you said the needles are set like they should be.

RE: Rebuilt T-15 won't start.
You are correct, the starting pin is missing. This is what the starting pin looks like along with the spring that fits in behind the pin. [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGEH0&P=Z]Pressure Pin[/link] I'd make sure that the pin didn't fall off somehow when you were putting the engine back together and its now rolling around in the engine somewhere.

Clutch Bell Bearings
I had my clutch bell off the other day and when i removed it and took the bearing off that the clutch bell slides over, about 4/6 of the cylindrical rollers fell out of their housing. Does this pretty much mean that they have worn down enough to cause them to fall out and that I need a new one...or it is just that its not really supposed to be removed very often and its okay for them to come off of their housing? My clutch bell does make a ringing sound pretty often when the clutch is not engaged, and does move around some when I touch it, so i have a feeling this could be from the worn bearings.

RE: Sealing an Engine...Air Leaks
I sealed up the engine the other day and tried to start the engine today. I tried and tried and couldn't get it started. I ended up flooding the engine and stopped after that. I am hoping its just the needles that were not adjusted correctly since i took them out while working on the engine but i'll have to give starting it another shot tomorrow.

From the video that you posted it sounds like you are running fairly lean. The weather definitely does make a difference and they really do need to be tuned each and every time out .

RE: Sealing an Engine...Air Leaks
I don't have a temp gun to test the temperatures but i'll see some smoke coming off the head and sometimes it'll shut off on its own. I did the water test on the cooling head and the water will start to boil in a few seconds. I've just always had a problem when I put the body on it and I've cut multiple cooling holes in the body. So the thing that worries me is the smoke coming off the engine...is this normal sometimes or it shouldn't be happening?

Sealing an Engine...Air Leaks
I've been having some problems with my engine getting too hot when its warm outside and when i put the body on the car. I have an MT2 with the T-15 engine in it and i've heard that many of them have air leaks which cause the engine to overheat so I purchased this product to fix the leaks: [link=http://www.permatex.com/products/automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_makers/auto_Permatex_Ultra_Copper_Maximum_Temperature_RTV_Silicone_Gasket_Maker.htm]SEALER[/link] I'm not really sure what to do next as in where exactly to put the sealer and how much of the engine needs sealing so any suggestions?

RE: Glow Plug with Idle Bar
Yup i've taken the plug out of the engine and tested it and it glows very brightly all the way down the coils. I guess i'll just have to play around with it some more to see what the problem is.

RE: Glowplug stuck
I think i would also take the cooling head off and then take the glow plug attached to the head button off. I'd then put the glow plug into a vice or just tighten a wrench as much as possible around it and twist. I'm sure you can get the wrench on tight enough to unscrew the plug even though it is rounded off.

RE: Glow Plug with Idle Bar
I installed the plug with the idle bar and the piston moves fine wihtout hitting the idle bar, but the engine won't start. Does the idle bar make it any harder to start since it is blocking the coils a little or is that insignificant.

Is there anything wrong with using a glow plug that has an idle bar on my .15 car engine. My glow plug died and the only ones that i have left are the ones with the idle bar that were in my plane engines. Thanks

RE: QUICK REPLY MT2
Try adjusting the idle screw that's located on the carbureator. It is on the top of the carb, and it might be hidden by the air filter a little bit. Turn the screw into the right to make the idle lower I'm pretty sure.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Has anyone had their clutch bell go bad?? The gear part(sprocket I guess) and the part that connects to the clutch plates came totally disconnected today when I was running my truck. I now have separate pieces of my clutch bell. I've never seen something like this happen before, but maybe its more common than I think.

Glow Plug Question
The glow plug in my .15 sized engine in an HPI MT2 is not lit all the way down the coil. The majority of the coil is red hot with the charger attached except for about the last loop closest to the piston. The engine runs fine and idles pretty well, so it this something that i should look into or is it common for some of the glow plug to not be red hot. Thanks

Do you drive your cars with the body on?? I'd like to drive it with the body on, but the truck overheats after about a half tank so I just drive it around with the body off. I was thinking about cutting out some cooling holes in the body, but I don't want to go cutting up the body before I know that it will help. So what do you guys do??

Haha that doesn't bode well for me then. Maybe I just need to get the tuning better. It sounds and feels pretty good but I might not be as good as I think it is. I am also running 20% nitro, do you think switching to a cooler plug could help any, or that won't make a difference at all?

Car Won't Stay Running
I have an HPI MT2 with the .15 sized engine. The thing starts very well and will run perfectly for about half a tank or about 5-7 minutes, but after that the engine will stall and I won't be able to start it again reliably for about another 10 minuites. It will run a littly but right after but I have to keep giving it fuel, and it just seems like its overheating. The mixture I have set correctly and its putting out olots of smoke and has good power but I think it overheats. Is there any way to fix this by getting a different temperature glow plug, or what other options do I have. Thanks.

RE: very hot
A hot run is usually associated with a too lean needle setting. Turn the hi speed needle to the left about a quarter turn. Go from there and see if the engine is running any cooler.

RE: 4 Wheel Drive--Only Front Tires Working
I opened up the rear differential and the gears don't really look that bad. They may be rounded off a little, but none of the teeth are missing or worn completely down. There are a few metal flakes in there but I would assume this is normal. I don't see what else the problem could be so I am tempted to just buy some new gears and test it out. When I spin the rear driveshaft, i dont feel any slipping in the differential. I am guessing that with the added power and torque of the engine, then it could cause the differential to slip even though I couldn't get it to slip.

RE: 4 Wheel Drive--Only Front Tires Working
I just went and played with it some and I found that the rear tires are acutally powered, but the front tires are spinning much faster than the rear ones. It seems like most of the power is being given to the front tires. So I am not sure if its something in the front or something with the rear tires. I have taken the rear differential off and I am in the process of looking that over.

4 Wheel Drive--Only Front Tires Working
I have an HPI MT2 truck. It's 4 wheel drive, and I was out with it today and there was a weird noise coming from it and I concluded that only the front tires were being powered. I lifted it in the air and all 4 tires started to spin, but when it's on the ground, only the front 2 are powered. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem and how I should go about fixing it?

Cleaning nitro trucks
I just took my HPI MT2 out to a baseball field and it got extremely dirty. A little bit of fuel leaks around the fuel tank which causes the dirt on the car to turn to mud. Is there any specific way you guys clean your trucks or any chemicals you use that seem to work really well. Thanks, Mike.

Roto Start--Disappointed
I just bought the HPI MT2 with the Roto Start engine starter. I like the idea of having this to make starting the engine easier but the quality is pretty bad in my opinion. The button started sticking after about 5 starts(just sticking on the body of the starter). Today the thing decided to not turn off at all and the button was fully retracted. I had to undo the battery to get it to turn off. I would think HPI should make a better quality starter since I really don't like getting this type of quality in a $300.00 package.
