RE: Unofficial
ORIGINAL: willo jet Well guys ive decided too change the jet boat too brushless electric because im going too use it for a recovery boat aswell as a fast electric for the rivers ect.
I don't think it will make a very good recovery boat - since it is jet powered you only have steering when under power (no rudder) and it's really only when you are giving it a reasonable amount of power. I have 2 of these and tried to recover one with the other, and I really struggled (and failed) when the lipos went flat one time. I was very sceptical when you originally put the idea forward, but it would be a shame not to see you finish it .... Cheers, Mike.

RE: Unofficial
ORIGINAL: sundogz Mike: check to see if the impeller is contacting the stator or sides of the intake cavity. If so, remove the offending plastic - or better yet, run it until it wears down (more fun). You didn't say if that was the one that was faster. ISIRC10: It may be so, but I've never compared identical esc's set to different timing side by side. I don't see where different timing would sound any different - they are just 'firing' at different times during the cycle is all. But your suggestion of them not being initially calibrated would be valid if the trigger was held to a different position when initially plugged in, or a different TX was used when initially fired up. But I don't think that is the case. Stein: You're talking to the wrong person. Write Jeff Wohlt at the email address I posted. Hopefully, he can help you.
The noisier one is faster. I'll check the impeller. They sound different throughout the throttle range, not just top end, I'm not convinced that they are calibrated perfectly - I have 2 different Tx's and no manual for the Traxxas one - it is a bit of a guess :(

RE: Unofficial
ORIGINAL: sundogz The loudness might be caused by impeller clearance. But the one with the highest pitch (note) should be fastest. If not it may have a slipping coupler. I don't think the speed controls are the reason for the difference in sound.
Thanks - how should I set the impeller clearance ? I only mentioned the different ESCs as I believe that the timing can make them sound different if that is different.

RE: Unofficial
Some help please - I have 2 Tear Into's, both with the same motor (but different ESCs) however they sound very different - one is much louder (and a bit faster). What could be causing this ? Is it down to spacing of the impeller ?? Thanks Mike.

RE: Unofficial
I used a car paint restorer called T-Cut to remove the decals - takes a bit of rubbing but gives a very smooth finish

RE: Unofficial
I'm well overdue with some info on my Tear Into's - I started off with one that I bought locally (in the UK) that is orange, and then thought that it would be fun to get another that I could build up for my girlfriend so that we can have races, so I bought another one (and found that for an extra $40 I could get yet another, so ended up with 3). Here they are - I have lots of helis so had loads of motors, ESCs and servos already, so I built them up using those spares. The yellow one runs a with an outrunner, a 30 amp ESC and a mini-servo. The two white "race" NTQs have exactly the same spec - a 2900kV inrunner from GiantCod in the UK, cooling jackets from R2, cheapo Skyartec ESCs, and the same mini servos as the yellow one. We're having great fun with them - guess which is the GF's

I take the whole thing out as it gives better access to sort out servo mounting etc.

RE: Unofficial
Guys, I am a newby to the thread, though I have read it all - I have about 3 years of heli flying (sports flying - loops, flips rolls etc.) and felt the need for a bit of diverisification and these look FUN [:D][:D]. I love fiddling so have ordered a couple of these (OK then 3) for me and my G/F to play with. A couple of questions / requests if I may ...... Are you all using water cooled inrunners or have any of you had success using out-runners ? I have various 2.3mm shaft heli outrunners of around 2800 - 3500 KV that I am keen to try. Could someone please show some clear detailed photos of how they have done the water-cooling pick-up in the stator ... without meaning to be rude, most of the pictures aren't very clear ... what did you use for the pick-up ? What size pipe are people using to go between the pickup / cooling jackets / outlet. Thanks in advance for the help (hopefully [;)]) received. Cheers, Mike.
