RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Yes, just assign the dual rates to a 3 position switch. You could also use a flight condition which could allow for the low and middle rates to be on individual switches for each control surface and then one flip of a switch for the max rates. Mike.

Disclaimer: I'm biased! ;) Aurora 9 1. Easiest radio on the planet to program with it's large back lit touch screen and open architecture so that anything can be assigned anywhere! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T27DZNCMP1A 2. Built in Rx battery telemetry/warnings with additional telemetry options available. http://www.hitecrcd.com/products/aircraft-radios-receivers-and-accesories/telemetry/index.html 3. RE: Low voltage warning using LIFE batterys
The problem with LiFe batteries is that the discharge curve is very flat and they do not have the gradual drop off like other battery chemistries which makes it hard to detect a low battery without it being too late as the voltage can drop very quickly after the warning. Mike.

If moving the servo's activates the low battery alarm (4.4v w/ 4cell and 5.4V w/5 cell) then your battery is not sufficient for the application or not charged. I've also seen switches cause this problem so by pass it and check it again. What battery and servos (type and count) are you using? Mike.

RE: HS-5085MG: What is a proper power supply?
As discussed... high capacity AA size NiMh cells have difficulty providing adequate amperage for high powered servos although that high of a drop with a single servo is excessive! Sometimes the problems can be with just one servo in the bunch so you might want to see how each of them affects the battery voltage when tested. Mike.

I'd just p-mix the throttle to elevator with a 7-point curve (P-mixes 6,7, or 8.) This way you can have the exact amount you need at any throttle position. Mike.

RE: HS-5085MG: What is a proper power supply?
I just read the other thread... there is a lot of good info there as well as Jims reply above which hits the nail on the head. The bottom line is the voltage will sag with any battery but it depends on the load and internal resistance of the pack as to how much. Anything over about .8v from the resting voltage means that you don't have the proper battery for the job. High capacity AA size NiMh packs are the worst when asked to deliver power; they are great for TX's but not for digital servos. These would be a better choice: http://store.batteriesamerica.com/sanyo2150mahhigh-capacityni-mhreceiverpacksmadewithhr-aul2150mahcellschoosevoltage48vor6vchooseshapeandchoosewireleads.aspx Mike.

The Hitec AFHSS systems with built in RX battery telemetry will work as well. RE: HS-985MG Question?
Using an all Karbonite geared servo is not a good idea in gas in most cases due to vibration but ANY metal geared servo are fine. Note that the Karbonite/steel (M/K) first gear is used in all the high end servos including the 7955/50/90 which are used in giant scale, jet's military UAV's etc... and will never strip during normal usage! The 985MG is far superior to the 645MG in terms of performance so I'd stick with what you have and they will work great with no chance of stripping... unless you crash! ;) Mike.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
The problem you experienced is similar to what was reported by others that lead to the development and release of the V2.02 firmware for the RX's which has essentially eliminated these issues. I understand not wanting to update the radio firmware until all the bugs have been worked out as some do, but Module and RX updates are typically essential and should always be done. I would suggest that you only use an RX with V2.02 in a gas powered models... you can send the Optima 6's into your Hitec agent for the update and update the O7's & 9's with the HPP-22 interface yourself. I'm not a big fan of using the SPC port to power the RX in gas and glow powered models as you lose the ability to monitor what you servo battery/regulator is doing. As long as you have sufficient power for the servos you should be able to power the RX with the same battery. The telemetry is essential to tell you if you have the proper battery/regulator even by moving all control surfaces quickly for a few seconds. Anything more than a 0.5 drop is concerning. Mike.

RE: 40% setup
Dual RX's is not recommended with our system as we have seen in some cases where they will not range check as well as a single RX. Definately use dual batteries and a power distribution system like a smart fly or power box is not a bad idea to spead the load. RE: Trouble with Hi-Tec Optic 6 Sport 2.4 Radio.....>>>
The blue light and beeping means that the RX voltages is dropping to/or below 4.4v... if you reach 3.5v you will brown out the system. While the older 72Mhz system had a lower minimum operating voltage it still doesn't mean that your battery voltage wasn't sagging significantly and that the pack wasn't marginal and affecting servo performance. Using a 5 cell pack provides more headroom over the brownout voltage but any pack you use should not drop more than about .8v under the load of the servos in any particular model. The 2100mah 6v packs you purchased... if they are AA size then they too have fairly high internal resistance so under high loads, their voltage will sag as well... if they drop to 5.5v the same blue light and beeping will occur indicating that you are asking too much out of them. Most people have no idea about this voltage drop, but now with the built in battery telemetry, it's opened peoples eyes to this. Mike.
