We will have the system up and running for our Fall NMPRA Gold Cup Race. Charles has done the design and electronics work. He has designed... the L.E.D. and IC's. He has done a years worth of work in a few months. Mike has done all

RE: New website for N-40 sales
The backplate machine screw hole pattern is the same for N-40 SS, N40 LS , and N-40 SS/LS conversion engines. #5-40 t.p.i. machine screws are used to secure the backplate on all N-40 pylon engines.

OJA Spring Race Pictures
I am passing along the information from the photographer ( John Comerford) that was at the OJA Spring Race, the following is the email he sent to me. Sorry it's taken so long to get the pictures posted. Please forward this on to the rest of the pilots, callers, and volunteers, as you see fit. It was a great 2 days of racing at Old Julian Airport for the Spring 2011 races. You must use the password spraflyer (to keep out the Riff-Raff) once you get to the site. Use this link to go to the site: http://www.shutterfly.com/pro/JComerford/OJASP2011 • Viewing the images as a slide-show works very nicely. (Click on the red "View as Slide Show" button) • If you want prints, they're easy to order, they give you a preview of how the image will be cropped at the size you want. You can also get interesting gift items made from the photos (mugs, playing cards, mouse pads, etc.) If you want a picture with a different crop, let me know, and I'll adjust it for you. •If you have a Shutterfly user account (free, unless you set up a Pro site like mine is) you can have any images transferred to your account for only $4 each! This is a high resolution image you can use for prints, gifts or anything else you'd like. Again thanks to all of you that were there, and for those of you that didn't make it this time, these pictures may show you what a great event it was for the third year of races at the Old Julian Airport! Old Julian Airport 2011 Spring Results
The 2011 Old Julian Spring race is in the record books. See the above for results. Thanks to all the contestants, and race officials, for making this race a great success. The food, as usual, was great and good fellowship was had by all. Three plane races resulted in only 2 midairs all weekend. We might want to consider wider use of 3 plane heats for the faster classes. Thanks to Tom Scott, Rick Vogelsang, and the CAPS organization for the use of their JUDGEMAN System. Jim Katz and crew did not have single refly all weekend. Pictures by John Comerford, will follow when he has a chance to edit his work.

RE: New production N-40
The SS/LS layout uses a Large diameter and thick flange sleeve that has the bolt hole pattern for the head screws machined in the flange. The advantage of this layout is that the sleeve is aligned to the ports in the case by the head screws. The SS and LS case use the same casting. Mike Langlois

RE: Old Julain Air Race!!! New website
In regards to the history involved in naming the Old Julian Airport.: A bunch of us guys were standing around one day and were trying to decide what to call the place . One of the men had noticed that that the road just before you get to the field is named Julian Airport road. Julian Airport, according to the people I have asked, was closed in the late 1940 to earlie 1950's. Due to our field being so close to Julian Airport road and , best I can tell, within 1 mile of the where Julian Airport was, we decided to call our field Old Julian Airport. At this time I cannot find anyone that knows exactly where the original Julian Airport runway was located.
