RE: Xray M18T Question
Its better for onroad to use tires more in line with its size. Mini-T and RC18T on-road tires (not rims) work.

RE: What will break on the X-ray M18?
What surface are you going to run on and what mods does it have? All depending, you will want ball diffs and metal universals (again depends). As far as breaking. Keep a few bumpers spare. Thats it.

RE: Xray M18T and M18MT RTRs!
ORIGINAL: maybelater29
ORIGINAL: DarkHorse If they are not to worn then a washer will do for quite a while but eventually they get so sloppy the straight line steering becomes difficult (after prolonged bashing in dirty streets etc.). Then you really need to replace the arms and balls (3 per arm). Not sure if it's economic to get nickel balls, might as well get a Pro kit and get lots of hop ups in one purchase ;) (15mm longer). I managed to scavenge enough to change all the arms and balls on my Hummer basher this week (from last year's action damage) but I have a pretty large amount of spares and bits to draw on.
I have an extra M18MT kit that I only used the MT body post from so far, I have all the spares I need. I see where you are coming from about the pro kit I just don't know if I'd bash it like I do my M18MT. I'm looking at $37 for all the nickle pivot balls are they worth it or will they wear the arms out faster?
It depends on how much dust your run in and how often you clean your suspension with canned air or a air compressor. the flipside is having your suspension lock up or the arm pop off because the ball wore down.

RE: flightpower evolite 1600mah owners,,,, theres a replacement
Its not better, its the same (but with a cool graphite wrap versus the green). It also has the deans already attached. Also, by buying it versus the Flightpower, your directly putting your mulah into their vehicle section. So they know people have interest in these. So in the future, we could see more specific for us. Tower and Velocity has the 2 cell version in stock.

RE: flightpower evolite 1600mah owners,,,, theres a replacement
Actually, you want the Trakpower 1600. I contacted them directly and let them know it was popular enough to have a Trakpower version. http://www.trakpower.com/index.asp?page=Products/products.asp (Trakpower is Flightpowers vehicle brand) The nice thing? They already come with deans on. :)

RE: Bodies for Xray m18t pro?
You need to contact aftermarket manufacturers to let them know you want support, otherwise they won't know. :) The jconcepts mini bj4 body fits. Jeremy? from Oople put one on his pro. You have to make your own cut lines. You can also get the m18tmt body post extensions, and that will increase your options as well, though the body would sit higher.

The M18Mt takes all the same parts as the m18T except minus the sway bars, larger rims/tires, body post extensions, and X2 for shock towers and shocks.

Its the one Dynamite used to sell Rocket Racer. Had one for a bit until I went 1/18th. Looks like the one in the picture has all the upgrades. Nice.

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
jayvr6, I'm new at these as well. But from what Chris has mentioned, I believe he would suggest the 4200 combo. I'm using a 4900 motor at this point, and its plenty fast without even changing the sprocket gear to the included 12 tooth. Later on if you think you can handle insane speeds, there are plenty of cheap brushless motors that will work with the Mamba.

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
Well looking it over I noticed this (first picture). Musta happened during my numerous hugs with the pipes and wall. After screwing the fork back in and straightening out, when I did rebuild it with the steeper rake just now (next two pictures), I didn't encounter that issue I had before. [8D] . In my defense I was trying to change it between rounds while I should have been working on my sedan, so I wasn't paying as close attention as I should have during race night. EDIT EDIT, Im also a noob to the terminology, so when I said shorter front, I meant I had changed the rake angle to closer to 90degrees (alah 69). Sorry for the confusion!

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
Its not the esc causing the issue, trust me on that Im using a modified mamba (switched the cap around so it has much less of a footprint, and I directly soldered the motor to the esc. It well inside the boundries of the chassis edge... I will get some shots here. Heck, maybe attempting to put it back into the more upright position will show me whats going on. But I can say the lower body portion was dramatically hitting the front wheel, even if I pushed it back from the tire it will would only barely not touch it. I actually attempted less front rake because of the what the directions stated. I have been over the tuning tips, but they dont go into great depth with the physics behind it. Any idea on the softer compounds? Or are they already in stock?

RE: lowest voltage that the mini-dt will run on?
You can run a 1 cell lipo below 4 volts easily (not just 3). I do it all the time.

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
Well I had fun with it, but I definitely need to get some more practice under my belt learning how to drive one of these. That and man, do those stock tires PUSH on carpet. I did find a problem, and I don't know if its something I did or what. I attempted to shorten the front fork to get more steering. The front fender would hit the chassis before the suspension bottomed out and if I put the lower part of the body on, it was hitting the front wheel. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a goof in the first batch (which is OK, if its fixed with the graphite conversion)?

RE: Team Orion Vortex 1/36th Motors & ESCs
Yes, your amp draw is reduced with more voltage to the same motor. But he is saying.. if you took 2 200mah and wired them in series, you would only have 200mah. Versus if you wired them in parallel, you will have 400 mah. Even with a reduced amp draw, your not going to get double the runtime as you would with parallel. For racing purposes, 4 cell or 1c lipo is enough.

Im waiting for the Vortex as well. I hope it will support 1 cell lipos (3.7 volt) as that's what I run.

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
ORIGINAL: VENOMOUS Right, the GPV-1 is similar. Once you have it leaned over you can be neutral or add counter steering to adjust your line and angle. On power the bike will slowly stand back up as expected. Due to the shape of the tires since they are parabolic in cross section they promote more side grip than straight standing grip. What will happen is the bike will tip in to a corner fast and you can control the lean angle very easy. Add power and counter steer and the bike will flick to the other side quickly. Chris
Hmm, this may add weight to using a sensored brushless motor since the throttle control is more precise. Guess I will see how the Mamba pans out (tonight is the first night I will get to play with it on a track since its been wet outside). Are the soft tires in stock yet? I will be using it on a carpet track.

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
Wow, this is all good information. I might add some thick grease as you say Chris. Though I might use a paperclip heated up to add a small release valve on the tube so the grease doesn't get pushed back out the end. Thanks guys!
ORIGINAL: Super_Dave
ORIGINAL: Mini_Me So the spring thing is like a spring then for the steering mechanism? While that tube on the opposite side acts like a dampener tube? RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
ORIGINAL: VENOMOUS Ok let me catch up here... Tire is normal, has a weighted rubber weight inside, do not adjust. Servo - see manual for other servo suggestions For the pack you can add double stick velcro Alloy parts use the plastic parts but have a tighter tolerance. The rear pivot is the same style as the plastic part. Thats not a servo saver!! Dont modify it unitl you really understand what its doing, the linkage set up and the springs are the heart of how and why it works so take care not throw those parts out! If the parts for the forks are bad from new you can call us on Monday and talk with a Customer Service Rep here and see about an exchange. Have fun, Chris
Thanks for the response Chris. Another thing I like about this? Not only did you use hex head screws in a RTR, you used machine hex head screws. Its soo nice to have good screws in a kit (even if it is a RTR). So the spring thing is like a spring then for the steering mechanism? While that tube on the opposite side acts like a dampener tube? Can any one explain the theory behind why a bike needs a damper for the steering? Again, I'm new to this. I was more interested in what the specs were on the stock servo itself. Tower (I dont buy there but they do have great resource info) has the specs for the brake servo, but none for the kit servo. I did find something to help with that little bit of play in the chain tensioner bearing holder. I wrapped it once in plumbers tape and that little bit helped to snug it all nicely. :)

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
Kudos Venom. You have me impressed. Now, to learn how to drive this thing. -Is the front tire supposed to be that much more stiff than the rear? Or did some different compounds get mixed up on mine? How can I tell they are a the correct stock set? -When you put your side bars on, really tweak down the retaining nut, I had mine on haphazard, and they popped off the screw right away and bending one of the wire retention splines (fixed by screwing in very tight). -What are the specs on the stock steering servo? -Can I have training wheels? :D No seriously though, 2wd RC noob here. Do heli gyros help with this any? -Is there a better way to retain the pack? I noticed with only one retaining velcro strap, it can shift back and fourth very easily.
