RE: POWER HD-DS120M HV Anybody using them?
Also just noticed the TBM stock number for these is ... "HD-DS120V2" So, hopefully these are version 2 runs and the issues have been addressed [:-]

RE: POWER HD-DS120M HV Anybody using them?
I've noticed that TBM sells this servo but not the DS090M. Also, I think they are saying they are selling a new version of the servo??? This statement is listed in the servo's description "New and Improved Motors and Gears!". TBM claims they don't sell anything that doesn't measure up, so I wonder if this servo's issues have been addressed? I plan to call them on Monday and inquire.

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
ORIGINAL: 103/17 Mitsu 1, No matter how you cut it the only thing I would fly on DSM2 is a foam micro inside a gym ! I was with JR for 20+ years ever since purchasing my fist 347 TX which was an awesome system for its time. You could say I bled JR red ! I switched bacause I have no confidence in the DSM2 set ups. I have seen no issue with the FHSS systems at our field while there have been too many DSM2 problems......way too many ! I dont need to start the debate, I already switched systems and it wasnt cheap to make the switch as I was in pretty deep with JR stuff. I am sure you can make the ATX system work and your plane will be safer for it. If you dont buy the ATX system then go for another 2.4 FHSS. Even JR is about to make the switch to FHSS with their new 7 channel they just released. Go check it out. 103/17
Well, that's what I'm saying. DSM2 concerns me but I do feel they are doing some things right, particularly their PowerSafe receiver formats. I already ordered an SD-10G and expect it to arrive today. I just wish ATX had a receiver designed specifically for big power, big plane specifics. Spoiled, I guess you could say ...

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
<<<I use the Fromeco 2XA123 2300s with the Fromeco Wolverine fail safe, battery share switch. The batteries have a fairly low gauge wire with deans plugs that go 2X (separate) to the Wolverine, than its two separate low gauge out of the switch (with deans) that are connected to a higher gauge that plug into the RX. Yah maybe it defeats the purpose going a low gauge into a high but its full capacity almost to the point of the RX. The diff with JR is my understanding you can go with a pretty low gauge (EC3) into the RX. I have never had an issue with it... If you want pictures I can post them but I use the two lower inputs in the rx. >>> Slats, I didn't get my radio in today as I had hoped but I'm at this point a bit torn. I really like the features of the SD-10G as I've studied, but I also really like the receiver/power arrangement of my Spektrum AR9100. Those lower gauge 14awg leads coming from the A123s and plugging directly into the EC3 14awg leads going directly into the receiver seems and feels so robust. It works and works well on my 33% Yak. I wonder if you're shooting yourself in the foot to take the 14awg leads from the battery and adapt/reduce them down to 22awg just to be able to plug into the Airtronics receiver? Is there a bottleneck in doing so? It sure looks like there should be.
ORIGINAL: bluzjamer I ended up grabbing a Hitec Aurora A-9 TX...price was right and I just love the screen. I want to get the ATX SD-10G also but would like to see one in person first. None of the LHS in R.I. carry it. They all have their Spektrums though. Never was one to follow the pack I guess. Tower Hobbies is still jerking everyone around on the SD. They keep changing the price the wrong way, they push back the in stock date every month, and on one link they even say it is discontinued...(discountinued before they even get it makes a lot of sense don't it). What kind of JackWagons they hiring at these places?
Despite all the great things and pluses the A9 has, ... I just couldn't get over that exposed cable on the back of the TX. Surely they must have known they'd lose a certain number of potential buyers by having their TX case look like where we all started about 4 years ago [8|].

I might be mistaken, but I think Global Hobby Distributors are now the suppliers of the Airtronics line and that might be why it says "discontinued" on Tower's site. Seems I read something along that line recently.

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
MikeGreenshields, or anyone else ... I'm considering the SD-10G. I need to know a couple things. If I get it i'd like to use the Hobbico LiFe Source 6.6v LiFeP04 rx battery on it. This battery has two universal connectors on it that can both be plugged into a receiver's bus. Will plugging one lead into the power bus and the other ... anywhere there's an open slot be OK? I read where it's now rated up to 7.4 volts unregulated which is great. I currently fly a JR X9303 2.4ghz with the Specktrum AR9100 power bus receiver with 14 awg running from my A123 dual batteries into it. Would just like to know if the Airtronics 10 channel RX is as robust and able to accommodate this setup equally as well?

Oh, I'm sure they are "seconds" in some way. They wouldn't be priced as they are if not. I read somewhere that RCG engines were RCGF's 2nd quality, intended for the Chinese domestic market. Probaly some hits, probably some misses. I think if a buyer understands this they shouldn't be too disappointed no matter which way things go.

RE: rcg-50 engine from hobbyking
Ok, let me ask this a little differently .... A piston of a 50cc engine is not going to fit too well in the sleeve of a 55cc jug is it ? If not, and if the jug IS in fact that of a 55cc cylinder, then the corresponding piston would have to be properly sized for that cylinder, and thus making the engine a 55cc rather than a 50cc ? Am I right?

RE: rcg-50 engine from hobbyking
The head on this RCG is same as the DLE 55cc head. I just noticed that the DLA 56cc head is different from the DLE 55 in that the plug orientation of the DLA is "straight up", whereas the DLE plug is side slanted. My RCG 50 is a carbon copy of the DLE head. I also noticed that the DM55cc that Hobbyking pictures also has this "straight up" plug like the DLA 56 and looks to be an exact copy of that head. Tower Hobbies has updated pics of the DLE 55. The pics on Hobbyking are not even the DLE 55, they are pics of the DL 50. Most people wouldn't notice 'lil stuff like that ... but I do.

RE: rcg-50 engine from hobbyking
Naw, the old 50cc head is quite different from the new 55cc head. They don't have the same number of fins or the same fin arrangement. This head is definitely the exact same head that the new DLE 55 wears.

RE: rcg-50 engine from hobbyking
Yep, well whatever was cast onto this head ... DLE or DLA .. it was scrubbed off. My question remains .. is this a 55cc engine if it has the same head that a DLE 55 wears? I know DLE shows a bore and stroke of 45 X 35 and the RCG 50 has a bore and stroke of 44 X 35. But if this has a 55cc head, would it not be a 55cc engine?

RE: rcg-50 engine from hobbyking
I bought and received one of the RCG 50's from Hobbyking a week ago. This engine looks really, really good for the money. The case casting is not at DLE quality, but so what ... if it runs good. Here's what I really want to know though, .... I believe this is a DLE 55cc head on the engine. I have a DLE 55 on backorder and I have seen it many times. I've compared this head to every DLE 55cc head that I can find online and this is a carbon copy, so much so this RCG has scrub and scuff grind off evidence on the head exactly where the "DLE" brand casting is normally found. The picture Hobbyking has of the engine is NOT the engine I received. That pictured engine does have a head that is a copy of the old DL50 head. So, if this engine does have the DLE 55cc head on it ....is it in fact a 55cc engine being sold as a 50cc?

You said over in the UK your radio equipment is required to be of lower power/signal output than the radios from the U.S., .. so why not make the small investment to swap out. May or may not solve all your probs, but should certainly help if you are flying expensive birds in an already noisy environment. UK X9303's look just like ours don't they? RE: Stripped Out Carb Insulator Block?
Ok, I went through this carb again, well actually the entire fuel and delivery system. I did too much to name, but I now get the kind of reliable, easy priming that I should. Took the Yak out today and got in 3 strong performing flights. Didn't tach the 100, but it was unloading in the air great. No leaning out even with really long vertical pulls. Yak weighs 24 lbs, so I can say the engine makes good power.

RE: Stripped Out Carb Insulator Block?
ORIGINAL: soarrich Walbro SDC-80 BUT, that may not be your problem. These two strokes are simple, your problem is going to have a simple fix. I'd check two things, first put the pulse line off and put it in a glass of water, then flip the engine over, do you get bubbles? I'd also check the reed valves they may not be sealing, When you flip the engine do you get a pulse of air out the carb? You shouldn't.
The pulse line from the crankcase is pushing air. I ran a line from the crankcase pulse nipple to a cup of water and it splashed it. I also put it up to my face and it is making a burst of air with each flip. So its putting air to the carb nipple. I also checked and the nipple through the plate is unobstructed. A note of interest, ... That nipple on the plate was detached and only hanging by the tubing when I got the engine from factory after the updates a year ago. I had pressed it back on but it popped right off again, so I pressed it again and glued it down with CA. That plastic nipple has a brass insert that presses into the carb plate. It's a relatively tight fit, so I really don't think it's the problem, nevertheless I'm popping it off, and pressing it again with silicone RTV to help seal it. Beyond that, I have no idea why it worked great, then doesn't work at all [&o].

RE: Stripped Out Carb Insulator Block?
Steve, I didn't get the engine from a dealer, I got the engine straight from Catherine & Johnny. It was one of the original engines, and it had probs. I sent it back and they repaired it with updates, replacing the crank, a larger hub assembly, the cylinders, the reeds, and the carb block. I got back the same carb (That I'm sure), the same mufflers and I believe the same case. I have had priming/draw problems from day one with this carb, even before it was repaired. Steve, one question ... I have a DLE 111 here and it has an Emas carb, but it does not rely on any pulse tube and has no such fitting on the carb. Does the carb block on this engine have the ability to supply pulse feed if using a carb without the pulse line?

RE: Stripped Out Carb Insulator Block?
%@$#!*&!~ .... Ok, ... INHALE ... now slowly EXHALE ... I don't know how much longer I can do this! After all the trouble I went through with the above outlined steps, and the complete success of last weekend, ... I am right back in the same boat, with no ideas left. I totally wasted a beautiful sunny day with temps in the 60's and a 5mph wind to this , this ... engine. This thing is doing exactly the same as it was before the carb rebuild. When I got to the field and got everything assembled, I primed the carb and saw fuel reach the carb and puddle in the venturi that first time, but never again for the next 3 hours. As before, I could spray fuel into the venturi and it would start right up, but die as soon as that fuel was burned up. There was a bubble in the fuel line just before the carb and I was never able to get that bubble to move whatsoever. I tried everythihng I could image. I totally removed the inline filter and went straight to the carb and it still would not move fuel. I even connected my fuel jug to the plane's tank vent line, and pumped backward into the tank to force fuel up pickup line to the carb, watched fuel arrive at the carb, then started the engine and it still would not pump/pull fuel into the carb. I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do. Does anyone know of a Walbro direct replacement for this Emas carb? I know it may still be the carb block, but I can't get one of those here by tomorrow, but I'm sure I can find a small engine shop with Walbro carburetors. It makes no sense to me why this thing peformed so beautifully last Sunday in my yard, then today reverted back to the same crap as before any work was done. The only thing that's changed to my knowledge is 5 days have past .
