Hi Pete, OK, Used to be a member of Team USAAF, John Deacon (He of the 24' span B24 fame!)Brought his along to the show at Rufforth,OMG it was beautifull, flew like it was on rails, landed at walking pace, and was from my favourite jet era. Lisa, my late wife, said "You've gotta build me one of those NOW!![:D]" I pointed out , that the Turbine alone, was the cost of her Engagement Ring , AND Wedding Ring , She just pulled them both off , and said , OK , Go get one!![:)].What a Gal[:)].James was 3 when she passed away, so it's taken a little longer than i expected... Like about 3 years longer.. Hey Ho[:)] Yup, Ziroli Panther, Lazer cut kit from Leon at Belair (Superb![:D]) Waiting on Sierra Precision Custom Retracts,(10 months now[sm=what_smile.gif] Fuz all framed up...... Jetcat P80 waiting Orbit twin walled thrust Tube.... Do you really want to see my ugly mug on the net??

RE: Ziroli F9F Panther - new thread!
Hi Pete, I know everybody has their own way of doing things[:D], but i give the airframe a light coat of 3M Spraymount. You can then re-position the cloth,as many times as you need, to get rid of wrinkles[8|].Sometimes, i put thin Zap onto it around L.E / T.E , and hard to do bits![8|], then thin the 1st coat of Epoxy ( I use Fighteraces L285 ,look under Accesories,Building Materials!) http://www.fighteraces.co.uk/ And yes, Break out a fresh tub of elbow grease[:D][:D], let the sanding commence![:D][:D]

RE: Ziroli F9F Panther - new thread!
Hi Chemistrydude, the ridges between the planks are razor planed, and sanded, untill they blend into the curve. Any small dings, flats, hollows etc, are then filled with lightweight model filler ( a lot of American modellers use "Spackle"). Only when you're 100% happy with the result, glass the airframe. If there are any imperfections before glassing, they really will show through! Would be interesting seeing an EDF Ziroli Panther, are you going to do a thread?? I'm putting a 20lb thrust Turbine in mine (JetCat P80)So a 20 - 25lb airframe will be about right for flying off my regular grass strip! Cheers Phil

Alastair, It seems you have to have the belts so tight it squeeks[sm=what_smile.gif]. Then the bearings suddenly let go with a bang, the cowl mangles round the prop, the engine is ripped out of the firewall, the C.G moves back 50 feet, and flicks it into matchwood[sm=omg_smile.gif]. (Apparently!!) Got a Toni Clark in my BUSA DVII, little sewing machine[:D]. Mine could be a 1 off incident, but (ahem) i've heard of others!! Cheers Phil

RE: exponential help
hiya, When using Futaba Radio, use NEGATIVE EXPO![:D]. It'll soften the feel around mid stick, but still give you full movement[:D]. JR Radio's use Positive for the same effect (the servo's also run in reverse compared to Futaba, if you have one of each brand , both set to normal,in the radio!!) Set up the Movements,Rates ,Expo and CG, EXACTLY as per the manual, and it will be superb. These guys really know what they're talking about. If you need any help / pics, post here, and we'll all jump in !![:D][:D] Cheers Phil

RE: New Somenized (TM) 69", Yak-54
Hi Texas (Alan), Hmmm,[sm=cool.gif]I must admit that some ball links are a little on the tight side.I always use the "loosest" ones on the closed loop. How's about swapping them out for ballraced ones e.g http://www.probuild-uk.co.uk/products/product.php?prodID=175&manID=&keyword=&catID=6&subCatID=266 Now you can't go wrong with these!![:D][:D][sm=thumbs_up.gif]I've got them all over my 80" (with a DA50 natch!!) RE: New Somenized (TM) 69", Yak-54
Hi Texas, 1)I've tried using 6 x 1/4"neo magnets on my 80"(e.g, 6 on the canopy,6 on the fuz)but the lift generated by the canopy itself, was too much,so lost (and found!!) the canopy on every flight,s & l! 2)U/C is rock solid as is, my field is 2" BUMPY grass, No problems! 3)Centre of "new" servo arm to hole for the ball link is 39mm (1.53inches) If you look at previous posts, there was a rogue batch of arms sent out in the kits. My kit had rogue, and the new correct ones in the box! (Now that's what i call customer service!!,they're famous for it![:D]) 4) yep, screw the rods fully into the ball links, when you do up the bolts hard, the ball stays fixed to the arm / horn, and the nylon part moves around it! I've used this type of top quality ball link for many years on everything from overpowered fun fly's,to (many [8|][8|]) thousand pound ££ Jets,No probs Hope this might help Cheers Phil
