VIDEO OF FIRST BUILD/ A SCRATCH BUILD AT THAT
over the past few weeks i dicided to build an air boat. weilding a os .46 engine this little boat cruises, its 24 inches long, 14.5 high (top of rudder), and 11 inches at its widest in the middle. on the rear rudder i added a small down foil to help keep the nose of the boat in the water. (i porpises pretty badly without it, it still does however not nearly as bad) the hull of the boat is foam, mdf and ply wood and fiberglass. ill try to get a video up soon, lemme know what you think so far with the pis.

RE: hey try an air scoop !!!!
hey guys im back, long time no post, lol, i feel that making that wing (scoop as you call it) would be an awsome idea, it would be just like that new audi that just came out, after you hit 50 the wing is constantly changing to create perfact down force, another good idea would be trim tabs in the water under your hull, just an idea, using a third servo on the wing i think would be best so that you can make the boat do what you want when you want.

RE: WHAT THE??
i agree with terbo, hollow core doors offer quite a bit of ply wood if thats what your planing building your hull our of, my dad has been a comercial carpenter for 26 years, he taught me the tricks to the trade when getting free stuff, usually he brings stuff home when a job is finished, stuff like, hollow 2x4 steel studs, alluminum roof flashing, wood laminate, hard board, huge sheets of foam, and much much more, i also have a few hook up of my own, at the local DELLS Lumber (i live in wisconsin dells) all i have to do is ask and might come out lucky, ive gotten broken hollow core doors and broken sheets of styrofoam for free,,, also at our home depo i have friends of the family who will let me know if good stuff is being thrown away, so all i have to do is ask, so if your lookin to save some cash just go to your local lumber yard shed a few tears and ask if they would like to contribute to your cause, lol, just ask if they have and broken doors that they plan on throwing away and some times you may come out lucky, most of my airboats cost me $0.00, just because i use the same raido, rx, servos, and engine on all my boats,, i think that the plywood is deffinately strong enough to build a hull out of, knock your self out and try different things, thats how i got where i am today, and i bet thats how terbo got to be the way he is now, lol jk terbo

RE: 1/2 A engines .... someone ??
my brain is still a little sketchy on what sponsons are, are they the pontoon like thingys that stick out from the sides to add stability, what size engin are you runnin on the toy box, it seems as if you tried to stick the biggest engin you could on there, (absolutely nothing wrong with that[:D] must go faster [>:][>:][>:][>:]) i would stick huge engines on my boats to but all i have is my enya .19 and really dont have enough munys to buy me a big one (i would love to find an os .61 for a nice cheap price[8|] then i could go really really really fast[>:][>:][>:][>:], then ultimately crash and burn, then cry a lot [:(][:(][:(], but it would be really funny [:D][:D][:D], ) i have a sick sense of humor when it comes to destroying things. lol i found some plans on http://cajungatorairboats.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=54, this it the link to the page that i got them from, has anyone used this set of pland before, i would like to see the boat completely built before i finish it so i know im doing it right, dont want to have an unfortunate accident.

RE: 1/2 A engines .... someone ??
shoot you guys that is nothin, lol j/k up here in wis. the temp at 8 am has been anywhere from -10 to -25 degrees, brrrrrrr[&:], jus thinking about that makes my teeth chatter, weve been having weird weather up here, it/ll be really cold one day and the next day or 2 it will be 40 and rain then the next day it'll be -10 again and my driveway could double as a skating rink, (hummmmm [&:] mabe i could sell tickits and raise more muny for my next boat hull) other than that it's been really weird up here, hey terbo remember the black air-boati made that had the blue flames on her, well i've almost got her finished, all i have to do is put the rudder on and attach the electronics, it moves really fast on the snow tho (i tied a string to the back before i put the rudder and electronics on tuned her up and opened the throtle all the way and let her go, she goes pretty good, plowed right up and over a snow bank that was about a foot tall, if you cant remember she has an enya .19 runnin her, but she works pretty good.

RE: Her name will be power.
yeah im havine an awsome time , ive just finished making the mount (nothing special). i mounted the engine upright, went to start it, and ppfffftt, wouldnt start, then i said ok lets try to prime it (by squitring a bit of fuel into the exaust port, ) it would turn over a few times and then the prop instead of making complete circles would flip back and forth, then i would try to statr it again nd pffftttt, nothing, i messed with that dang thing for like 30 min, could not get it to start and stay running for anything, i took it apart like 10 times looking for flaws, and clogs, didnt really find any, would someone help me out here, mabe post a few pics of what a cox .049 should look like put togeather, taken apart and cleaned, i dont know if im doing any thing wrong, but it shurely dont wanna stay runnin . oh i got my other air boat runnin 2, no raido equip yet but i tied a piece of string to it and put it on full throtel to see how it ran on snow, it moves in a very straight line on nice fresh powder snow, so now all i have to do is hook up the raido and stuff tune her up and ill let you guys know how it did, i dont know how to take footage of it though, what do i use to take it, how do i post it.

Her name will be power.
haha, i was cleanin out the toy box i havent looked in for years and saw this beaut sitting there on the top, (the inflatable toy boat), today i took a piece of 1" pink styro-foam and sanded away to get it to fit nice and snug, i plan on putting one of my cox .049's on it and had a few questions since i havent done this in sooooo long. [:D][:D][:D] about my engine, i havent used it so much, and wanted to know it i could mount it with the cylinder pointing down. in i cannot mount it like that how should i. tell me what you think about my new hull, oh btw i plan on coating the foam with a thin layer of fiberglass for strength and easier mounting of my tiny engine and servo fot directional controll.
