ORIGINAL: reeseman9 The canopy looks to me to be more suited to the F-16 but it's your design. It'll look great either way.
Thanks for replying. I thought the same. Was hoping to get some input on this last week before painting them on but it seems that this thread has lost its mojo. I went with the F-16 canopy.

RE: 1/6th A-6 Intruder Scratch Build
Love the build! A Joe2006 is a great machine. I love seeing the CAD -> CNC -> RC process. The swarf will become a problem during long cutting runs. Best thing I ever did for my machine is buying a dust shoe (see pic). You can make one pretty easy, I just didn't have a lot of time.

RE: Kingcat-Like Design and Build
ORIGINAL: mshay
ORIGINAL: LGM Graphix
ORIGINAL: mshay so is the modcat done yet its been 3 years?
so.... did you read the last few posts to find out what he's been up to over the last 3 years?
nope but refer to my previous post, i asked is the modcat done? not what have you been up to the past 3 years.
CAD-wise the Modkat is done. What LGM is refering to is the CNC machine progress. I stopped building the fuse plug back in 07 to start building my CNC machine. The CNC machine will cut out the new plug once it is done. I've been toying around with the concept of going 100% composite (wings, fuse, booms, etc), but time will tell on that. The CNC machine is functionally done, but still have install a dust collector and twin air filters (I'm expecting a lot of dust from sanding). The plug will be made from bluecore foam covered with fiberglass and will be 100% CNC cut. Stay Tuned. Shouldn't be long now.

RE: Kingcat-Like Design and Build
ORIGINAL: Mike2735 I just found this thread. All I can say is ''AWESOME.'' You have done some amazing work. I have tried my hand at designing planes. And I too, decided to build a cnc machine to cut my own parts. This thread just gives me more inspiration. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more updates.
Thanks. I'm willing to help if you need it. Are you a member of cnczone.com? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ It has been almost four years since my last "Modkat" related post, but that will change soon.......My machine is just about done. Still have to do a few odds and ends to seal everything up, but that won't take more than a few weeks. I'm shooting for late November as my "official" return to RCU. For those of you who have been waiting; thank you for your patience. Kelvin

Here's a pics of where I'm at now. I can update the machine progress here if you want? Anyone interested in DIY CNC?

RE: What would your ideal R/C workshop look like?
I haven't been on RCU in a while, but thought I should show a few pics of my shop. I scratch build and CNC cut my designs, so it more of a rapid prototyping area. Here's a shot of my CNC mill, lathe, and almost complete CNC router. Composite aircraft will be flying out the door a record speeds once the router is done. The entire shop is plumbed with copper piping for compressed air and 35 outlets are distributed throughout via conduit/50A sub panel. It's not as impressive as Min's "MANLAND", but it is "NERDLAND" [:D] for me.

RE: Kingcat-Like Design and Build
ORIGINAL: LGM Graphix Kelvin, How is this bird coming? I have an AMT Mercury with no home sitting here, I'm anxiously awaiting seeing what happens with this one, trying to hold off on buying something different, any projection on when you'll have molds made and be ready to produce airplanes yet? Jeremy
It all depends on when the big router is done. I only have 10 parts left to machine before starting on the electronics. It should only take 2-3 weeks to produce the first plane once the machine is done. Hope to start on the plane by early Jan 2010. Not to much longer now considering I started this back in 2007! Kelvin

RE: 2nd Newbie Build- GP Super Skybolt
ORIGINAL: tessex Great thread!! Thanks for all the info guys. I promised myself I wasn't going to start my Skybolt until I got my '68 Ford Mustang running. Unfortunately, the ugly weather tends to make me want to work inside. (And on the nice weather days, I tend to go flying instead of working on the car! I hate competing hobbies!!) And, the Skybolt has been calling out to me these past few days. I started my build about an hour ago. The rudder and vertical stab are glued up on the plans. Just count me as yet one more soul lost to the Siren Song of the Skybolt! Tom
Welcome to the insanity! Are you going 4 stroke or 2 stroke, fiberglass or monokote? RE: BalsaUsa Force-One kit bashing project : Force-B-One !
Strykaas, I like what you're doing with this! For this build I would suggest a FIRE engine because you can enclose the engine and exhaust tube in a hollow cowl (fiberglass?). To solve the exhaust mess problem, try attaching a heat proof tube to the end of it and running the tube down through the bottom of the fuse. Worked well for the Modkat.
