RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
The reason I asked is that it opens up a huge selection of paint schemes for the YA Spit. Most of the RAAF had MK VIII's in Burma etc so there exists a wide array of airplanes and history to model. If the tail is larger I doubt anyone will notice unless it is a scale event requiring documentation. For us guys who just want to get it close I think it will work. What do you guys think?

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Here's a question for my Spitfire Brothers: Is the MK VIII airframe the same as the MK XIV?

Well I guess I am not in the Brotherhood. I was told by email I was #121 but failed to make the manifest.

RE: Futaba 8FG Super recommended switch assignments?
Gary I must be a complete idiot since I have read the manual cover to cover except the Helo stuff, and am confounded by the a lot of the verbiage and assumptions. They should put out a video that takes one step by step through the basics.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
If my memory serves me correctly it is 4.5 inches from the leading edge. I have two of these, one with a G62 and one with a Sachs 3.2 Lots of problems when the plane first came out because it was rated for a 90 glow which was way too underpowered. Both of my planes are 28 lbs glassed and painted. You have come to the right place because there are a few of us here that have built and flown this Spit. Daddy Sam can chime in as well as he had experience with this spit as well. Best of Luck and welcome!!!!!!!!!

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
I'm in after a break from the RC action, I look forward to reading ALL the posts here. Excellent Idea!!! With all the different Marks and possible paint schemes this aircraft is perhaps the most interesting to model.

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.
Brad I'm almost at the same stage as you are, I am getting ready to paint but the weather here is cold. Meanwhile, I am doing an extreme makeover on my giant stinger and will be doing some R/C skydiving using it as a jump plane. What else can you expect from a former paratrooper?

RE: Flite-skin Spitfire questions
I think you would be interested in the 1/5.5 builds which come out to 83 inch wingspans. BTW, I have used flite skin and I'm sold on it. There are millions of uses and it is very easy to work with, saves a lot of time too. I didn't know Jose offered the BT spit as a kit (one stop shopping) as I have been buying everything separately. Maybe that's half of the fun. Good luck with your build.

I have always called him and he's answered and is very pleasant to talk to. I'm sure he has the jigs for the YA Spit so maybe a little personal engagement as opposed to an email may do the trick. Eh Wot?

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.
just in case you thought I was only building a wing: Here are the Keleo exhausts installed on the 3W60, they were a pain because I had to move the firewall back so the tabs had to be cut off and reapplied. The second shot is the oxygen tanks THAT ARE NOT SCALE TO THIS AIRCRAFT but I was going to model a PR XIX but decided not to and left them in. They are made out of aluminum cigar tubes cut and epoxied together. Still have to work on the door and sliding canopy. Painting soon, I hope!

RE: Vailly Aviation Hawker Hurricane Build Thread
Maybe it's the monocote, could be that it is much lighter and holds the flair better; just a wild thought. Everyone I know who ever built this plane glassed it and put fabric on the fuse and rudder. Any thoughts?
