RE: First time this has happened to me
ORIGINAL: rcdude7 If you have 250 flights on a YS that has been in service for three years, when was the last time the rear bearing was replaced?
Never. It never gave signs of needing it sooo..... I am new to YS's and the whole rebuilding 4 stroke scene so this is a first for me. I have a saito with well over 500 flights and no signs of this either. Should I be replacing them every so many flights? Even if nothing seems wrong? I think sending it in is the right choice. I have no idea what I am getting into here. Couldn;t get the back plate off so I didn't force it. Kevin

First time this has happened to me
My YS 110 (older version) blew the center bearing. It locked up tighter than you know what. I just took it apart to see what was up and found this. Now to find a place with the parts to replace. Was wondering what might have caused this. I run 20/20 pattern fuel and have for 3 years on this one. Maybe 250 flights. I check gap every 50 or so flights and adjust if needed....usually not needed. I had just warmed it up and got my stuff around to get airborn and restarted it and let idle for about 20 seconds. Then when ahead and gave it gradual throttle to taxi out and she locked up at around 3/8 stick. Any ideas or more info just say so. Kevin

Now that's a good idea! How could it be easier than that? Heck paper is cheap compared to other types of advertisement. It would also get the attn of the new guy's. Most of the folks I started flying with had no idea there was such a thing as AMA. This idea would see to it that they would get to see the info and choose for themselves. Good call KE! Kevin

So what have you proven? Did you buy up some of this incredible insurance? Did you make a claim that went well? Or are you doing the same? Defending something you know nothing about? Reminds me of my exwife.....argue just for the sake of arguing. Go on and show us proof this guy is legit. I am not asking for a miracle, just proof that you know this is legit. RE: Metal chop saws. ........(WHY ARE TOOLS SO EXPENSIVE IN OZ?)
I have the Makita and can't say anything bad about it. It's a stinkin chop saw for metal....nothing needs to be exact. I use it for lots of things from cutting rebar to cutting sheets of 1/4" steel. I would say the hitachi would be more precise. However precision is not usually something your after with one of these. I only use it for rough cutting my stuff and machine it the rest of the way if needed. I had a Hitachi compound sliding mitre saw and loved it. Made the most precise cuts with no slop. I can't say that about the craftsman, makita, dewalt, or milwaukee saws of the same caliber I have owned over the years. IMO Hitachi is one of the best CSM saws out there. Makita will always be in my shop and on the jobs with me. Still got my old 9.6v drill from the early 90's and it works as good as day one. Kevin

RE: Motocross
I raced back in 97, 98, and 99. I still own the bike a 1997 CR250. I still ride and ride hard. I got on the podium a few times with no payout... It was the most fun I ever had. 3 of my best pals raced with me and we all traveled together and shared all expenses. I would like to race my quad next year but will likely be another 2. I have a 250r race ready I use for pit and dune riding mostly. Have another 250r needing a new frame and time. Picked up a RM80 for the little woman a few months back. It is built for racing as well. My kids ride quads and bies as well. I bought them all their own riding gear. No serious injuries in over 500 hours of riding for them. It took 12 years for me to finally hurt myself...the ole MCL injury. It took a wicked crash to do it but hey....next year I can ride the MX bike again...til then it's 250r rippin! Good luck with your venture. Kevin

RE: Official F27 Stryker Part 8: Beginners to Custom Darkness
All good. A new thread it is then. I understand.....it's not as dark over here as we need it. I say why waste good info on PM's....if I am the olny one he shares it with then 5 other dudes are out. I will talk to him about a new thread. I hope some of the elders with experience will chime in and help out. We are not trying to cheat anyone out of anything...just want to GO FAST!! IMO 150 is not that fast. We have done some side by side flying at 140 and it was a breeze. Time to go faster. We are well aware of the dangers (we both fly 26lb+ planes with 28 inch props...) associated with R/C and speed planes. Thanks for the reminder though... Kevin

RE: Official F27 Stryker Part 8: Beginners to Custom Darkness
Lets talk Fiberglass for a second. I am no expert....done it once to be exact. I built a cowl for a plane and that is the extent of it. What type glass should be used? Like what weight glass? Best resin/hardener to use? I liked doing it last time and thought I would most likely be doing it again real soon. How about the use of A123 cells built into the wing before glassing? I would also like to make the motor mount one with the fuse. Making it totally dedicated to the motor can size. I think it would eliminate all mount flex if not 90%+ of it. Just a few Q's and ideas. Mr. Johnson and I have flown these birds we have for 2 years now and have no problems going 140+ with lots of flights on our planes. I am onboard too! So that being said there are only 5 dudes to go.....lol. What is so bad about going 200mph? I see jets do it all the time
