RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
Hi Chris, Any progress on the gear? It looks like I won't be up that way until mid February, so we may have to make arrangements to have it shipped to me. MarkN

Hi Chris, Any updates on the jet? Last we spoke you were waiting for landing gear. Just curious as to what kind of timeline we're looking at for delivery. Thanks, MarkN
ORIGINAL: cgrcjet Shaun Franco from Florida flew his on a pair of P-60's but not sure exactly how it flew. I heard it came in at about 40 lbs. and flew ok ,but just a bit heavy. Maybe Ty can fill us in? chris
40 lbs, just a little on the heavy side. I believe MarkBrown was looking at around 25-27 lbs on his SM110-52 with 10S. I'm looking at the same weights as his maybe a tad heavier with all those sweeeeet rivets![:D]

Chris, Rivets and raised panel details turned out excellent! Paint makes the rivets and raised panel very subtle, and I'm sure the weathering will make it look even better. Shaun, Not sure how it flies with the P-60's (have not read or heard of anyone doing it with turbines yet). I have two SM110-52's running on 10S per EDF for it. MarkN

RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
Chris, They look really good! I can see how you get addicted to them, they add that next level of detailing to any build. Man that is going to look great painted and weathered! Do you have all those pics in HiRes (or any Res)? The reason i'm asking is because I want to put together a little build book to put alongside the jet whenever I take it to fly, and to display at our clubs booth during the AMA here in Ontario, CA (you know people are going to ask about it with all the detail that's going into it). If you do and it's not going to be a lot of trouble could you please put it on CD when you send my kit to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to see it in person...thanks, MarkN

RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
Chris, WOW! That is most excellent looking! The rivet detail is outstanding, I believe the HS-5085 will have enough torque for steering. I'm heading up northern CA this weekend for work (and to pick up some goodies for the A-10...servos, esc's, pushrods, etc). My building table is clear and ready to assemble this one as soon as it arrives, my plan is to have it ready by the end of January so I can fly it in February. Thanks again for the update and photos. RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
Ron, I used to teach in the simulator there at Travis before I took a job with the airlines, so most of the guys I worked with are still there. The base has a decent aircraft museum with a lot of static displays. The flightline is usually calm during the weekends so should be easy to get out and take a peek at the jet. I'll get in touch with you let you know. I hope to have the A-10 by the end of the month or the middle of December at the latest. Working on a 1/8 Global Jet Club F-16, I want to have that ready too, but as soon as the A-10 arrives i'm putting it together since it will require the least amount of time to get flying. I'm going to try those new HV servos from JR as long as they have ones that will fit. Chris sent me a list of servos that Tam used in his A-10 project. I'm still deciding on whether to use 10S 65C 6500 MaH or 12S 45C 5000 MaH, will have to keep researching... MarkN

Hi Ron, I always appreciate the words of thanks for serving. Not sure when it will be completed and in my hands, but my plan is to have it ready to fly by February (thats the next time i'm driving up that way for duty). I'll be up there before that for a weekend at a time, but it's getting into the rainy season so not sure what the flying conditions will be like. I'll definitely make sure I call before the first flight, if nothing else come on over and we'll have lunch, i'll show you around and see if we can't get some time in the KC-10 simulator and an aircraft tour.
ORIGINAL: markbrown65 I have trial fitted the wings tonight and have trial tested the c of g at the 4'' rear of the leading edge and with the 12s x 2 Turnigy Nano 5000s it balances. I will have a test later to see what happens with all the wheels up as this should put it nose heavy. The Turnigys run at 4000watts full throttle so bundles of power. The battery location is good as I intend to make two battery holders that fit in through the main access hatch and ill leave the cockpit closed. Ill post some photos soon. Ron what was your flight times on the Spark ? Mark
MarkB, That's gobs of watts, what kind of amps are you pulling? Looking forward to seeing more photos of your jet. MarkN

Ron, It is Travis AFB, and yes we can have guests there. I would like to see the Spark fly (have been looking at getting one). I don't live in the area, but I do my military duty there (KC-10 refuelers). I'll let you know next time I'm up that way for, you can come on over and fly, meet some of the guys who are local. Mark

Chris, I'm impressed, and glad you enjoy doing those details too. The Air Force base near Vacaville is where I plan on doing the first flight, it has a closed 2000' asphalt runway. I get up that way about once a month for military duty. Mark Brown, Your A-10 wIth those black StuMax EDFs is what sold me on this kit...that and Chris' excellent building skills and his enthusiasm with his kit. I look forward to seeing more pics of your assembly. Mark

Chris, Holy crap that looks incredible! I do appreciate the added work and look forward to putting it together. I received my black StuMax 110-52's and they look incredible. I have one of the orange SM110-52's and Stu put a lot of effort into painting them black. Thank you Mark Brown for having it done first. I've been gathering the bits and pieces so I can put this together quickly. I've been sharing the pics from this site with a few of my flying buds and they can't wait for me to get it built and flying. We have a 2000' long asphalt runway I plan to maiden it from...up near your area of the state Chris. Mark

I'm working on a 1/8 scale F-16, but enjoy your build so much, i'm going to buy a kit to work on during the winter (or keep in my attic to build at a later date). Thanks again, Mark
Does anyone know the colors needed to get something like this? Â I need to know the colors for the turkey feathers as well as the ''ring'' just forward of them.
I ordered a kit from BVM called "Hot Section Detail Kit" it Contains (6) one ounce bottles of airbrush ready colors that include (2) Gold Titanium, Magnesium, Steel, Translucent Red and Translucent Blue and the required instructions, cost is around $45.00. It might be what you're looking for. I haven't used it yet, was going to try my hand at detailing my YA F/A18 single exhaust. And excellent job on the videos, i don't have the YA F16, but after watching your build videos, i may have to order one to build at a later date. Mark

RE: JL GJC F-16
Orlando, If I have any questions, I'll call Mike or Dawn, they're local for me here in CA. I plan on doing something different for the flight controls. I'm using a Rotary Drive System (RDS) for the Ailerons and Rudder here is a link to the system description.. http://www.irfmachineworks.com/rds/ A friend of mine has it installed in his YA Single F/A-18 (hasn't flown it yet, it's still in the building process). It takes a little more to install but will not have any exposed rods or control horns sticking out. I had not heard of it until he mentioned it on his build, since I'm also building the same F/A-18, I copied his method and will also install it in the GJC F-16. I've got some pics of his install, the guy is an absolute scale genius, his detailing/painting/building is really flawless. Mark

Orlando, Thank you very much for the servo info. I was looking at the 8411's and DS378 thin wing, wasn't sure on the rudder so will go with your recommendation and use the 3421. I will post some assembly pics, as I was planning on doing it for another site anyways. Good luck on the treatment buddy, and thanks once again for an excellent product! Mark

Orlando, I got my GJC F-16 Ace In The Hole. Beautiful workmanship, went through and checked all the bits, nothing damaged, I have to say it was packaged well. Would like to know what servos you used for the controls. I plan on using a StuMax on 10S 40C 6500MaH with CC HV110. Have a few JR servos in mind but want to know what is working in your Jet. Thanks again, Mark
