Sponsor my Multiple Sclerosis Bike Ride?
Hi Guys As those of you who follow my Facebooks (rants) will already know, I've recently taken up cycling as my new sport. I was pretty thrilled to find some charity rides as well, and the MS ride especially, because one of my best friend's wife has been stricken with this disease and it is pretty debilitating. It's sad to see what it does to this wonderful woman in her 40's who is a great wife, and awesome mom, and up until lately, a very dedicated business woman. She is still able to do a lot, but she has had to move her business into the home, and make major cutbacks, and on many days she is simply too afflicted with the symptoms of MS to function normally. She has to have an assistant to come help her to do daily things that the rest of us take for granted. And without research into this disease, she is likely to only get worse. She is only one of over 400,000 people in the United States with this disease. I have to admit that I did not know much about it, until my friend's wife was stricken with it. Now I've really learned a lot in a short time. I have signed up to do two 30-mile rides for the MS Society on November 10th & 11th. This is the weekend of the Aviation Nation Airshow, which I will be skipping this year to instead do the MS bike ride. Those who know what an aviation nut that I am, will recognize that this is a pretty big sacrifice for me. I got a new bike and have really been putting some miles on it, training to get in shape to do this ride (and others, as I find them). Here it is on the back of my truck: And here are some of my MapMyRide stats, showing that I've actually been training. The numers will continue to climb daily. I will be in northern california this coming week to train for longer rides. Thats how serious I am about it. I am asking that if anyone is interested in making a tax deductible donation, in any amount that you want even if just $1, please go to the MS Society Contribution Page and make a contribution. The money goes straight to the MS Society, it does not go to me. What I do to earn your contribution is riding my bike 60 miles or even longer in November. Longer, if I can go longer at the time. I'm dedicated to this. I'd also like to ask any cyclists here in the Las Vegas area, if you are interested, please join my team and come out and ride with me for a worthy cause. You can sign up from the donation page. Would love to see a bunch of team members on the ride with me. Thank you :)

RE: Dixie Jets Rally
I hate to miss it, but there has been a change in plans and I wont be able to make it. Had fun last year though. Maybe next year someone can mention it a few weeks earlier so we can all plan better to attend.

I watched your 3D plane in 3D mode on Youtube. Pretty cool but these red/blue glasses make me cross-eyed.

RE: So you think your EDF is safer than a turbine
ORIGINAL: Ron101 If I can afford it next spring I will only buy Thunder Power.. not to mention the 1/2 off crash pricing and 2 year warranty. They really are worth the extra money if you have it
Say what? If you pay cash, they are half off?
ORIGINAL: dmscpu Congrats! Sorry to hear about the color, white and red does look good.
True. But I have a friend of a friend that does those really cool vinyl wraps for cars, motorcycles, jetskies etc and I think he is kind of excited with the thought of testing his product on a jet :)

Well since I missed Arizona Jets this year, I'm going to Jet Desert Storm. Hopefully I can get a new or used turbine by then, otherwise I'll be flying EDF.

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
My Tornado arrived today. I had originally ordered the red & white one but was then told they were out of stock, so I had to settle for the grey & orange. I'll be repainting & recovering.

RE: Winter projects?
My first project is getting my shop space back in order. Just hung new lights tonight. Need to clean off my work bench and both tables, organize my tools again, and just move some things around. Have several projects that mostly just need receivers installed and radio programming: Ohio Ultimate 10-300 Aeroworks PT-17 with Saito 5 cylinder radial (Unknown brand) Super Decathlon with YS91 KMP Hawker SeaFury w/Zenoah G26 Need to put new tires & wheels on my Sig Hogbipe (love that plane) Need to decide, repair my BVM FJ-Fury fuselage or throw it away Planes still new in the box: Habu 32 CMP T-45 Eflite AT-6 Just ordered a Modellbau Tornado. Got plenty to keep me busy. And a '66 Mustang being restored. Dont know where I'll get the time for all of this.

RE: When will EDF jets surpass wet turbine Jets?
ORIGINAL: Valve floater I will be using value hobby batteries. Got 3. 3300,40c, 14.8, 4 cell. Taxied it so far. It shows to have plenty power. From what i know.I`m a prop guy. I plan to take the landing gear off after several flights to get it more streamlined. I have read that EDF`s are not really efficient compared to a prop. But i can`t wait to find out myself. The weather in Louisiana has turned bad this weekend.
Just remember to fly it like a jet. It wont have much control authority at low speed and you really shouldnt yank & bank it like a prop plane.

RE: NEW to Jets
ORIGINAL: sgrady Habu it is then, looked at some of the info last night seems to be the right one thanks.  Going to get one this weekend.  Trainer went well, LOL, like riding a bike. One more question gang are the computer ''training'' Softwares any good or fun ?
I only have experience with RealFlight but yes, the simulators are great. When you crash just hit the reset button instead of putting your plane in a trash bag.

RE: NEW to Jets
The foam Habu flies great and is inexpensive, will be a good stepping stone to the faster and more powerful jets for you.
