RE: TIGER 60 Build / Start date 12-05-09
Where has everyone gone? Haven seen Stevenmax 50, Go GTS, VCScott, Estang or RDJeff for some time in here. Have you all finished your tigers? Let’s see some pictures of how they turned out. I have my new foam wing ready to sheet this weekend if I get the chance and don’t have to go do stuff for the wife. More to follow. Matt

I guess i really don't need the plans as the plane is 99% done I just thought it would be nice to have so I could use them if I put it in and needed something to go by on the rebuild.

RE: TIGER 60 Build / Start date 12-05-09
Pic 1. Here is the nose after all of the cutting and gluing was done. I still have a little patching to do on the bottom towards the wing saddle. After I tacked the new nose sides on the fuselage to get the alignment right I cut down the line you can see just behind the hole for the tank mount. I then glued a thin piece of plywood inside the nose. My tiger was tail heavy any way so this should just decrease how much extra weight I already had to add to the nose. I did the same on the other side. The 4 dots at eh fire wall are round toothpicks that I drilled in to the fire wall to help keep everything allied during the gluing process and to give a little extra strength. Pic 2. Here you can see a piece of hard wood I glued in behind the firewall to take the place of the balsa triangle. You can also see the thin ply I glued inside the side to bridge the broken nose. And yes that is a new piece of balsa in the cowling. Pic 3. Here is the foam core before I have cut out the servo mount and the hole for the rocket tube to run the servo leads, as well as sanding in the grove for the wing spars. The lines you can see drawn on the wing are all of that laid out prior to any cutting with my fancy hot wire gun. Pic 4 Here is the bottom of the other wing that I have already cut and glued in the servo mount, servo wire tube and the bottom wing spar. You can see how the gorilla glue foams up and it cures. The tape is to make clean up easer. Try to keep the foam cleaned up as it is very hard to sand and get cleaned up after it has cured. Pic 5 this is just another view of the wing showing the tube for the servo leads. I bought some Estes rocket tubes at a local hobby shop. I got 4 tubes for around 6 or 7 dollars, so I have plenty left over for other projects. Pic 6 This is my fancy high-tech hot wire cutting tool. Okay it is my Dad’s very old soldering gun with the wires made out of 20 gauge copper wire. Here you are only limited by your imagination.

RE: TIGER 60 Build / Start date 12-05-09
I haven’t been working as much as I should be on the tiger. I have got the nose back on and have started the first side of the new foam wing. I put in the wing spars in and have the servo mount in. I will do the second wing before I put the skins on. I will try and get some pictures taken and posted tonight.

I think I am going to use the canopy I have in my unstarted tiger 60 kit. I have plans to clip the wings on that one and some other mods I did not do on this one.

RE: TIGER 60 Build / Start date 12-05-09
Okay here are the pictures I have so far. #1 is my new servo tray. #2 is my new former A. #3 is a picture of the new sides as I was gluing them on. Since this I have re glued on the firewall and cowling done some sanding and am about ready to set the fuselage aside and go to work on the new foam core wing from eureka aircraft. I am sure that is going to take longer than I want it to. I have a lot of repairs on my desk to do from last flying season. Yes I am going back with the original color scheme. I am looking for a new canopy as the original is trashed. Anyone out there have one and want to get rid of it let me know.

RE: TIGER 60 Build / Start date 12-05-09
Okay I know I haven’t done anything in forever with my Tiger 60. But finally got my basement done and now have a new building table, so this weekend I started the rebuild on the Tiger. I will post some pictures soon. 1. Built a new servo tray, 2. Cut a new former A, 3. New sides for the front of the fuselage. I have that all glued in place and have the pictures and will post soon. I am almost ready to replace the firewall and engine cowling. I will post more later.

RE: painting question w/ HVLP gun
From my work with an airbrush I would say you need to thin much more. You might try thinning with Windex that is what we use with some model paints.

RE: new to elect and motor wont run
Okay I hit the wrong reset on my radio and wiped my Su27 info off and now my motor won’t run again. Of course I had not written it down yet when this happened. I have the throttle (L 125 on the sub trim, travel adjustment is -150, trim full down.) set to its lowest setting Just got a new charger for the battery and it is charged. Anyone have a good idea???

RE: TIGER 60 Build / Start date 12-05-09
Welcome Jeff. You will love the tiger. I love mine even though I only got 5 flights on it before it bit the dust or should I say tree. I had a bad battery and flew to long. But it will fly again. I just need to get the basement done and the Super Sportster recover done. Hope in a couple of more weeks I will be on it. Donny sorry I must of missed your question what was it? I saw you talking about the canopy dying; if that was it you will have to wait longer I didn’t do that on mine. Estang love the covering job you did. Have you flown it again yet, let us know how it went. Bicker BC I have done a few of the older die cut kits in the past Just a lot more cleaning up the pieces and making sure they are cut out all the way. Steve you ever get your tiger recovered and flown????????

RE: Goldberg super Chipmunk build
I just picked up a GB Super Chipmunk from a guy who started the kit about 10 years ago. It is about ready to cover. I noticed that he did not take the wood out of the front lightening holes. Anyone known a reason why he would do this? I have e-mailed home but thought I would ask you all while I wait for him to answer. I can’t wait to get it ready to fly. I am going do it in the Basic Art Scholl color scheme.
