RE: Balsa USA 1/4 Sopwith Pup build
HEY SENRAK EWAN HERE WHAT DID YOU USE FOR COVERING? IT LOOKS TRANSPERANT ON THE FUSE. IAM COVERING THE WINGS RIGHT NOW WITH 21ST CENTURY FABRIC, THE FLAT AREAS LOOK GREAT AND THE BOTTOM WING TIPS. BUT IT DOESNT WANT TO STREACH AROUND THE TOP SIDE FOR SOME REASON. NOT TO MENTION WHEN I STARTED A NEW ROLE, IT WAS A DIFFERANT SHADE. ATLEAST IAM GOING TO PAINT THE TOP OF THE WINGS. ALSO I I HOPE YOU ARE GOING TO ADD A SPREADER BAR ON YOUR LANDING GEAR, THEY WONT LAST LONG LIKE THAT. MY SEA5 THAT I BOUGHT AT A SWAP MEET DIDNT HAVE ONE, ONLY LASTED ONE LANDING AND IT IS ALOT SMALLER. ANYWAY YOUR PLANE LOOKS GREAT. AT THIS RATE IT WILL BE JUNE FOR OUR MAIDENS, WITH ALL THE SNOW NOW. [:'(] LATER EWAN

SENRAK, IWAS THINKING ABOUT YOUR PIC TODAY AND WENT BACK AND CHEQUED AND I SEE ONE SERVO THAT IS FOR THE THROTTLE AND TWO BESIDE. DOES THAT MEAN YOU ARE ONLY USING ONE FOR THE ELEVATOR? THE REASON I ASK IS THERE WAS A BIG DISCUSSION ON RCSB ABOUT USING TWO, EVEN THOUGH THE ELEVATOR IS ALL ONE. I AM USING TWO SERVOS WITH ONE HOOKED UP TO A REVERSER, ON A TIGER MOTH THAT IS JUST A LITTLE BIGGER. I WAS GOING TO DO THE SAME THING AND ONE FOR THE RUDDER. I WAS JUST WONDERING WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DONE. ALSO DOES ANYONE THINK THIS IS OVERKILL?? LATER GUYS EWAN

I DID THAT AND IT WORKS GREAT, BETTER THAN CLAMPS. I JUST DID MY N STRUTS TODAY, I DEVIATED FROM THE MANUAL AND SOLDERED THE BOTTOM FITTINGS FIRST AND THEN I AM GOING TO TURN THE PLANE UPSIDE DOWN TO GET A BETTER FIT FOR THE X BRACES. HEY CRISP I BUILT THERE TURBO BEAVER LAST WINTER, JUST HAVE TO COVER THE FUSE. AS SOMEONE SAID THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE SKETCHY, I CANT STESS IT ENOUGH TO READ THEM VERY CAREFULLY AND TO READ A FEW STEPS AHEAD. AS FORE FLYER THEY DO FLY GREAT, I ALSO HAVE THE 6FT OTTER ON FLOATS. IT IS VERY SOLID IN THE AIR, JUST TAKES ITS TIME TO LIFT OF THE WATER. ITS A LITTLE UNDER POWERED. WHEN YOU DECIDE ON A PLANE, YOU SHOULD START A BUILD. I WOULD BE GLAD TO HELP. LATER GUYS EWAN

Hey computer monkey one of your last posts said to buy local. I thought the same thing and guess what it didn't work. It was actually worse, i bought two motors from a club member that was a small motors mec and i lost two planes. I swore i would never buy used again but i just bought a 150 saito used. Hey guys thanks for the weight of the engines. My saito weighs 3lbs exact and 60 oz werks out to 3and 3quarter lbs. I don't have my keleo muffler yet so that should add more weight. Senrak my concern was the saito was to light, and i didn't want to add to much ballast. I know the sound of a four stroke would be amazing. I flew a se5a with a 72four stroke that sounded amazing. Guys in my club would stop and watch and coment how it sounded. That was my go to plane this summer. Later guys Ewan

Hey there3136 you should have said you needed some solartex, i would off hand delivered it. We are going to get pounded with a foot of snow and 70km winds tonight. I don't mind it as long as we don't lose power. Anyway on a brighter note i added two layers of ply to beef up the front area for the dowels, wow what a difference. Thank you senrak for that. I got more done today than i thought, got all the ply glued on the fuse. Its starting to look like something. I will post some pics soon. Does any one that is going to install the g23 or g26 have the weight ? I have a 170 saito radial for mine but now have second thoughts, it might be to light compared to the g motors. As for the longer chord iam glad it wasn't me, i thought i did something wrong and no mentioned it earlier or i would have done something to fix it then. I am of to buy longer drill bits . Hey good to her from you 3136. Have you built the fuse yet? I went to install my bottom wing and it would fit in the wing sadle. it was to big from front to back so instead of sanding down the wing. I put a small notch in the fuse former. Mine is coming along nice, these kits just fall together. Talk to you later Ewan
