RE: DA50 stalls in spin ???
I have the same Plane/Engine combination ... and had the same exact problem. My problem turned out to be the clunk ... it was too far to the rear of the tank ... moved it forward at least a half inch ... problem went away. Talked with a friend with the same engine and different YAK ... he has his clunk forward also ... said it works better for him in aerobatic maneuvers. Just a thought !

Convert Inch Throw to Degrees Spreadsheet
Needed to have a convenient way to calculate Throw to Degrees and vise versa because I kept forgetting the formula(s). So last night I constructed a Excell Spreadsheet for this and thought I would share it with anyone who needs the same. I made the numbers big so my old eyes could see it well in the shop. Attached Right Click and use "Save As" to download to your computer .... Change the extension from .gif to .xls to run in Excell .... RCU allows only three types of file extensions to upload ... and TXT didn't work

RE: I'm looking for a proportional 180° servo
HITEC Programmable Digital servos will go 180 degrees ... and you can set the speed ( slow them down ) if needed. They can be purchased for approx. $50.00 However, you will need the programmer do accomplish this Unless you know someone that has one ... or your local hobby shop would allow you access to one.

RE: Expanded Scale Volt Meter\Digital Volt Meter
I use 1.175 or 1.188 (little safer) volts per cell (Nicd) as a stopping point. I have considered 1.1 volts per cell as absolutely dead. I use a voltmeter with a 20 ohm 5 or 10 watt resistor lor load ... available at Radio Shack. Look at the curve supplied by Red B and see if you agree.

RE: Convert control throw inches to degrees
You do not need the programmer to use the spreadsheet to get your answer using the Excell Program do this using the Desired Control Angle Know portion of the program. 1.) Using Line 1 ( any line really) enter the control angle desired. ( First Column) 2.) Under the column labeled "Width - Largest" enter the measurement in inches of the control at its largest point ( or point you wish to measure at) 3.) Under column "Control Throw" is the answer in inches (i.e. decimal 0.50 = 1/2 inch) of the throw you will use ( at the point measured) The other portion of the program 'Desired Control Throw Known' works the same way but changes Inches to Angle. Hope this helps I constructed this program in part for the same question you had. Was always getting control throws in degrees ... wanted to measure with my trusty ruler or height gauge. I expanded when I got my Hitec Programmer and had trouble relating the programmer numbers to control surface movement desired. Good Luck Mustang Fan

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=2887678&key=hitec%2Cprogrammer I deleloped a Xcell spreadsheet for the Hitec Programmer (LINK above) If you have the capability to use it, the spreadsheet will convert both degrees to inches and inches to degrees. You measure the width of the control surface, put in the inch movement and it will convert for you. If you can't use it ... let me know and I will post the math for you.

try RC Scan 7200 Frequency Scanner (RC) [link]http://www.desert-wolfe.com/rcscan[/link] or Model Scan Sl72ARC Scanner [link]http://home.comcast.net/~brentbruns/index.htm[/link] In the $300 to $350 price range the last time I checked The next step up is around $1000 unless you get a generic frequency scanner like the Radio Shack or ICOM You must listen for "white" noise to determine if someone is on the channel.

RE: HS-5955 Programmable from Radio?
The servo will work as normal. You only need to purchase the programmer if you want to use the special features of the servo. Such as 1.) Change rotation direction 2.) Match two servos without a matchbox 3.) Slow the servo down for flaps/landing gear etc. Otherwise ... you have a normal operating servo you can set EPA with your radio. Hope this helps !

RE: Hitec servo programmer question
The programmer programs the HITEC Digitals Only ... other servos are not programmable. The Unit will test "ALL" types for servos and can be used during setup. Has some nice features. 1.) Can Measures the msec signal from the receiver to be used for setup 2.) Can measure and hold the lowest receiver voltage during cycling the servos ... good for testing binding linkage. 3.) You can output any msec signal to the servo and check the operation ( eliminates using the transmitter for setup) 4.) Has a continuous cycling mode ... I use for burn-in testing of new servos. The HITEC digital servos can be programmed for: 1.) End point ... they can be programmed to go 90 degrees from center or 180 degrees total ( actually a little over if you ever needed) 2.) Speed .. they can be slowed down ... no need for servo-slow ... good for flaps and landing gear ... especiall going 180 degrees. 3.) Center position ... no need for match boxes 4.) Fail safe ... if your radio doesn't have this function 5.) Dead Band ... good if two servos ganged together and are "fighting " each other at center point. 6.) Direction ... no need for servo-reverse on "Y-ed" connections. Hope this helps

RE: best prop for DA50
What Plane ??? Aerobatic .. usually go for the largest diameter and low pitch ... 23 X 8 - 24 X 8 ... I have tried 22 X 10, 24 X 10 22 X 8 ... prefer 22 X 8 ... slower speeds and better vertical. Props have varying shapes, airfoils, widths, tips, flexure rates and so on. May take some experimenting to see what "YOU" like ! For a warbird ... go for the highest pitch smaller diameter to get the speed ... (My opinion) ... vertical not as much an issue. Good Luck ... engine is powerful .

RE: Brison Revolution 52cc Motor
Had one of the engines last year. (Rev 50) Couldn't keep it cool even with the cowl off ( TF 1/5 P-51 Kit version ) 5 to 7 minutes into the flight it would quit and be very hot ... The manufacture said they were having problems keeping the crankcase cool .. then the engine vapor locks .. seemed correct from what I observed. I did a temp. measurement on the ground at full throttle with cowling off ... got to 325 degrees F quickly. Sent the engine back (with $100.00) and they replaced it with their 3.2 standard version. If you can get adequate cooling to the crankcase the engine may work for you. The engine started and idled very well ... can't say much about the power ... not enought flight time. Anyone else have experience ... good or bad ???

RE: Servo Reversers.... how do they work?
If your comfortable with opening the servo and soldering, a servo can be reveresed. The Two motor leads are reversed, along with the "Outside" leads on the feedback potentiometer ( Variable resistor). Not hard to do ... "IF" you are comfortable. Some of the new servo can be reversed by using a programmer ... a little expensive if you are only doing one. FMA Direst has a "Hand Adjustable" Servo that can be adjusted for reverse, center and end points just by moving the servo "by Hand". It is digital and about $30.00 ... P/N DS 300BB ... check it out ... if it will work for you, You will have another servo for the price of a reverser. Good Luck !

RE: WHAT DID I MISS - Jet Engine Question?
Jet Engines follow many things in nature .... They don't push there way thru the air ... they suck there way thru. Trees suck water up to the top. The wind doesn't blow ... it sucks from low pressure areas . Gravity is the earth sucking us down .... etc etc

RE: Need help witha servo controller
I have written a number of programs with PIC BASIC Pro, I may be able to help you if you supply some more info. You will need to have a interrupt programed to output the PWM pulse to the servo you wish to control using this algorithm. I have accomplished such in the past. Suggest as ghendrix01, that you have a dead band of at least +/- 5 msec..

RE: What do I need to make my starter cordless?
There is a device that holds Two 6 or 7 cell "car" packs and attaches to the starter. Made from hard rubber. Best fit is on the Hobbico starter, but can be used on the sullivan ( I'm using one). It cost $10.00 or so. Used a lot by the Heli crowd in my area. Not sure at this time who makes it ... anyone know???
