RE: Company tuned motor, big problem here, help.
Well. I have now tested the voltige on the brushes, on the brush wires and on the solderings. At 20 (v) the reading is 7.81v at all places (att full throttle), both when the motor works, and when it has stalled So the brushes has power. I have also tried once again to add pressure to the brushes to add contact to comm, still nothing. So I am out of ideas now, I cant see what can cause this. Doahh, you said that it could be that the brushes had hang up, Im not shure I follow, Do you meen hanging up as in they are to close to the comm, or hanging up as in not connected to the comm enough? Please, any help is appreciated. /tobias
ORIGINAL: Dudelive Remove the body so as to get to the motor good. When it stops and won't move, atach a voltmeter to the brush wires very gently. Lift the rear and see if it moves, if not what is the voltage? If you have voltage to the brushes it would seem as though Doahh is correct, which it does sound like is the problem. Also try taking a tooth pick and press in on the brush when it won't move with the rear off the ground. If the motor starts you know for sure there is a bad connection. You do have the motor wires soldered on good, don't you?
Thanks for the input, I will check the voltige later today, have my mulitmeter out on loan, got to get it. I have checked to see if it helps to add pressure without result. The motor wires should be fine, looks good and I have redone them to.
ORIGINAL: Doahh That's a sign of brushes hanging up... So what company was it?
Yes that was my thought to, bad connection - Brushes/Comm. But as far as I can tell, the brushes slides in and out without problem. I have even tried to add external (gently) pressure to the brushes, still "stalling". I wont tell wich company untill I have gotten a response of how we deal with this, it's a good company with exelent motors, with so far great customer support. Dont want to bad mouth them. I have only so far gotten this answer "Make sure the brushes go in and out of the hoods easily to make sure there is not a hung brush.". So Im waiting.

Company tuned motor, big problem here, help.
Bought a Reedy Quad Mag (Tuned by x-company, dont want to give out the name just yet) a while ago, I unpacked it this week and fitted deans and was ready to take it for a spin. At first it did fly, for 30 seconds or so, then something strange happen'd. After letting go off the throttle and coming to a halt, the car wouldnt move, stone dead. What was needed was a small push to the rear of the car, so the motor pinion got a "tapp", then it accelerated as usuall. But this problem is a returning problem, everytime the car comes to a stop, it needs a push to get moving. I have done some testing, with different ESC, Recievers, Transmitters, batteries, resoldered the wires and deans etc. And I have come to the conclusion that there problem lies inside the motor in some way. What can this be? The Brushes are almost unused, 2 minutes top. The comm looks clean, the spings feel right. Thanks for any help I can get. Tobias - Sweden

RE: Problem with my ESC
Further testings done. I have now concluded that it is the ESC that's been cousing the problems. You are right, I its probebly the BEC thats screwed up. Testings showed the same symptoms in all inviroments where the ESC where used. Will a home made BEC eliminate all of this? The motor spins when letting go of stering servo. The risk of frying another reciever?

RE: Problem with my ESC
Here's all the info New ESC = Acme b1006 13T Old ESC = Duratrax Intellispeed 16T New Reciever = TP-R2A Old Reciver = Futaba Something (The setup was going to be the following, TP-R2A - Acme ESC) Battery1 = 7.2 v Intellect 3600mah Battery2 = 7.2 v RC System 3000mah Motor1 = Tamiya 540 silver can, brand new, have tried 2 of them. Motor2 = Axiom Motors Atlas 19T Crystal = The one that was included in Futaba 2PL AM 40mhz kit Radio = Futaba 2PL am 40mhz I have tried the following: TP-R2A - Acme ESC = ESC beeps, dont respond to transmitter, wheels set to full left.. TP-R2A - Duratrax ESC = No beeps, but stone dead, wheels set to full left. Futaba reciever - Acme ESC = Works like a charm. Futaba reciever - Duratrax ESC = Works like a charm. I have tried both batteries. I have not changed the transmitter batteries, they are at 10.2 volts atm. Trivia: The TP-R2A reciever worked, with the Crystal, batterie, and esc for a while. It glitched while letting go of "stearing", the motor "spun" like I explained in my first post, the stering servo had much interference and "twiched" alot while doing nothing. I tried to locate the "motor spinn issue" by changing the reciever to the "old" futaba, somewhere here I must have gotten a timeout in my brain, since I cant remember what I really tested. But after the test I plugged in the TP-R2A reciever again, and the ESC just started to Beep and not respond any more. I figured that it might be the batteries that where low, and charged it, still the same problem. So I tried battery no 2, still the same result. After this I made the full test, described in the "table" above. I have tried to "rotate" the crystal. Still the same. What beats me, is that the desired setup once worked, yes with ALOT of glitching, but it worked, now the TP-R2A reciever dont respond in any configuration at all. hmm I cant come to think of any more details that could be interesting. But if there's any more questionmarks, then just ask, dont hesitate!!! every input is needed and wanted!

RE: Problem with my ESC
Can it really be the crystal??? It started out working, with the crystal, to where it is now, not responing at all! But the same crystal in a different reciver works like a charm.

RE: Problem with my ESC
Thanks for the answer, looks like I must have tested something wrong at the first testings. I did a full test now, on 2 ESC, and 2 recievers. New ESC <-> New Reciever = Beeping ESC, no response. New ESC <-> Old Reciever = Fully functions, dont seem to "throttle" when not suposed to. Old ESC <-> New Reciever = Totaly dead, wheels move to the left. Old ESC <-> Old Reciever = Works fine. I now guess that it might have been something wrong with the reciever from the first place, making it twitch at first, then go totaly dead. Might been a short cirqiut or something, what do I know.

Problem with my ESC
Hi. I would like to know if there are anyone here that have experienced the same troubles or have an idea what to do. I have just gotten a new ESC, a Acme B1006, its a Futaba clone. I have set it up, the throttle and reverse works just fine. The stearing also works, but.......... When I stear to at any direction, and let go of the "stearing wheel", and let it move back to neutral by it self, the motor gets a fit, and starts to "spin", only for a second or so, just as if it was given a little boost of power. Has anyone else heard of this problem. Ps. I have tried 2 seperate recievers, 2 seperate servos, so thats not the problem. Thank you in advance /tobias

RE: Size of Proline Dirt Hags 1 Buggy
Yes it is those im looking on, but I am afraid it doesnt help me very much, since there are soooo many wheels to choose from, and many of them dont have the same size. I have seen wheels that are (height, width in millimeters) 65/25, 65/35, 62/29... and so on. So just claiming that they will fit a 2.2 wheel, is in my book wrong since they can be alot different from each other. /tobias

ok my mistake, I aint so good at this gearing thing as you might have understood [:D] My thougths where. If you add teeth to the pinion = more strain on the motor If you remove teeth from spur = add strain on the motor

thanks for the tips Andonai. bigmik, heheh also a owner of a Vader, If you have the time, please try the Quad in the TT, and see if you like the speed, its another 10 days before my C2 arrives. My guess is that it has to be atleast a bit faster then the 27t, even that you have geared it like mad.

bigmik, that sure does look fast enough! I know that you have geared for the the power tourque of the monster stock... Going reverse is a... big no no, it goes about 2 mph in reverse. 2. I experience the car to be quiker, but also weaker. Could this be due to my pinion change or my slipper adjustment?
