RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
For some reason, I keep breaking the brake disk. Well, not keep breaking, but I've broken 2 of them. Does anybody know of an upgraded metal one or maybe one for a different cat that will fit on the Firestorm?

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
I bought my Firestorm in April. I bought it used online. The guy said it wouldn't run and I offered him $75 for it and he accepted my offer. I took it home and found that the clutch spring was broken and I found a small crack in the engine block. I got the aluminum 3 shoe clutch for the Savage and slapped it on and I JB Welded the crack. It's ran AWESOME with even a cracked engine until yesterday. The JB Weld broke loose. I put more on it and just set it up in case I ever need a engine quick. I put a new G3.0 engine on it yesterday but have yet to break it in. I'm going to do the Heat Cycle Method break in on it tomorrow. I've heard good things and it makes sense. I also got a Spektrum DX2S transmitter and receiver for it. I plan on building a Savage SS in January, so I figured I'd use the same radio for it. I love the Spektrum transmitter. If anybody is looking to upgrade, I highly recommend it. The Firestorm is my first HPI. I must say, it's the best $75 I've ever spent.

It says Discontinued at TowerHobbies.com. You can't buy the old one, only the new one. That's why I thought it was Discontinued.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Hello All. The FireStorm had been discontinued for awhile. Kinda made me sad as it is a great truck. HPI has now came out with a new and improved FireStorm that comes with a 2.4 GHz radio system. It looks pretty much the same except for the chrome wheels and the 2.4 GHz system. I am happy it came back though as it was getting somewhat difficult to find certain parts for. I actually upgraded to the 2.4 GHz system before this truck even came out. They took my idea . Click the link to check it out. I'm glad this truck wasn't just another one of those good trucks that eventually just die and then - - No more parts. http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/105865/

Zack! , just to ease your worries, the extra hole in your carb isn't a big deal. I have the FireStorm, a Traxxas Stampede, a RedCat Lightning, and a 1/16th scale Chaos. My FireStorm and my Stampede both have the "extra" hole. If I look in the carbs on my Lightning and the Chaos, the "extra" hole isn't visible. It's still there though. If you have an old carb laying around, take it apart and look at it. That's what I did when I first got into nitro. It will teach you a lot if you just take one apart and look at the parts and how everything works together. Sometimes the best way to learn things is to just tear it apart and see how everything works [:D] . Just be careful and remember how everything goes back together.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
I actually just put a bigger diameter screw in there. It actually brakes better now than it ever did [:)]. I may not have to use that gear case right away. Thanks for the advice though!

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Ok Road Warrior. That's some good information. I was running my FireStorm today and toward the end, I had no brakes! Pulled it in and took a look at it. One of the two screws (that hold the metal shoes on each side of the brake) was stripped out. The screw itself isn't stripped. The hold in the gear box is stripped. I ordered another gear box. Anybody have any ideas for a temporary fix? I tried JB Weld, but it only held about a half hour.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Thanks for the reply Road Warrior. Do you use grease or oil? What do you mean by shims? Washers or something? Sorry for all the questions. I have been in the hobby for about 10 years, but I have no experience with oiling or greasing differentials. Any knowledge or help from anybody would be nice. If anybody tunes their diffs, please tell what weight you use and how you use your truck (race on dirt, bash, pavement). Thanks!

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Does anybody know how to oil (tune) the differential? I can't find any information on how much to use or what the best oil/weight is. Has anybody done this? Can you tell a noticeable difference from the stock grease?
