ORIGINAL: K.Nielsen Hi Neil / All How many % down elevator do you have/use with landing flaps on ? Thanks in advance.
Hi Kim I don't use down elevator mix with flap, instead I have different flight conditions for the various flap settings and my elevator trim is independent... flap. I think I have 1 to 2 mm down elevator with full flap. Regards Neil

RE: Futura 1.9M build pictures
Hi Garry My C/G is 25mm behind the aft edge of the wing tube against the fuselage. You should be fine at 20mm in the the thick air down there in the Cape. As far as instructions go there are none, just a CD with some build photos and a file with throws etc, you will learn more from Ali's 1,9 Futura build thread. Good luck with the test flight. Neil

RE: Tomahawk Futura Build Thread
ORIGINAL: flightstick Thanks Neville, will call you later have some questions. One being the lack of intake ducting. Model has huge intakes but that's it , air isn't ducted to the turbine as in the larger Futura.
Hi Garry Which Futura are you building? I have flown the big one and the small one, they are fantastic. Regards Neil

RE: Futura 1.9m Build
I now have about 40 flights on my Futura with the P100RX and it is an amazing turbine. I fly at 5500 feet above sea level so I loose about 10% thrust. Even at this altitude the light weight P100 has plenty of power for the Futura I finally got someone to take a video, so you can see what a good engine the P100 is. http://youtu.be/LqCmRqRLoqY

In the event I can reach them and still have confidence in their service, your thread will serve...? You will not regret getting a Futura, excellent kit and retracts and built exceptionally strong. RE: Futura 1.9M build pictures
ORIGINAL: schroedm Neil, Out of interest, did you spray a white base coat or use the gel coat? If you used the gel coat how did you go about prepping the area for paint? I assume you layed the masking and then rubbed back with the masking tape in place so that the whole area was keyed... of course silver in the clear and it looks like glitter when its dry. Neil
ORIGINAL: oversprayer You are doing a great job.especially for the home painter / hobbiest. I do this for a living so Im susposed to make it look easy. And thank you for the compliment.
Thanks oversprayer My Next project will be a comparf/skygate viper jet in all white which I want to try airbrush, and do something special. I am really inspired by the two futura's and especially the Viper XXL you have painted. I have had a bit of practice painting as I painted a full size RV. I had to bribe all my friends with copious amounts of beer and steak to get them to help me mask my RV.

RE: Futura 1.9M build pictures
The Futura flies so well that I had enough confidence to do low level (not Ali low level, yet) slow and eight point rolls on the second flight. I will be using the Futura for the jet aerobatic class in South Africa

The big day. I am a firm believer in finishing a model before I fly, (stickers, pilot etc) I also like to take lots of photos before the test flight.
