RE: How hot is too hot to fly?
My bad - I failed to mention that my timer starts only when throttle up so it is not running all the time ! 7.5 minutes seems about right, I am going to set it to run constantly on my next flight with the intermmediate routine...

RE: How hot is too hot to fly?
I usually remove my packs after a flight and set them in front of a fan at the clubhouse and it cools them down nicely. My flight time is around 5 minutes or so for the intermmediate routine and I fly my Wind S Pro quite fast. The packs come down at around 115 degrees , the hottest I've seen was 125. I recharge when they are below 100 degrees. Now on my Hacker powered Wind 50 the lipo's come down usually at the same temperature but the motor is a little hotter ( around 130 ) but still good. I read somewhere that if you touch a motor after a flight it should not hurt you, if it does then it is definitely too hot...

RE: Lipo Fire in Garage
First rule of charging lipos is to NEVER leave them unattended ! I always remove mine from the airplane before recharging and always place them in a lipo safe charge bag. The ammo box might be useful too but be very careful- I know of an incident where a fellow flier was using an ammo box to store his lipos and as he closed the lit it pinched the balance wires and destroyed the batteries. He found out the next time he opened it up ! I am glad you are ok and that no one was hurt as this could have been a disaster...

RE: Dualsky Xmotor 6355DA-12T
Ok after a little digging I finally figured it out, with the Apc 20-13 my motor was going over by 27 amps ! Talked to Victor Diaz and he suggested running the motor on low timing. I did and... voialá ! It now pulls exactly 75 amps at full throttle. I also had to program my Castle controller to "fixed" end points....

Dualsky Xmotor 6355DA-12T
Is anyone using this motor ? I have flown it 4 times in my Wind S Pro and would like to know what prop sizes others are using. I tried the APC 20-13 and it works great except that it over amps the motor so I used it without going full throttle. Any prop suggestions ?

RE: 2nd Annual D2 vs D3 Shootout March31-April 1
It was a fun contest ! I'll be there next year ...thanks Victor,Marcio,Larry,Chris and everyone that helped to make things happen... I also had a great time flying my Rifle pylon racer as it was quite a challenge to land it on that runway, by the way it was clocked at 166 mph yesterday at a local fun fly with a high quality radar gun...not too shabby !

RE: PYLON VIP 1 or RIFLE??
I have a Rifle myself equipped with a Mega 16-15-2 and a Castle 45 controller. I added a carbon spar per KRProton 's blog on RC Groups. The Mega is 4600 kv and can push the airframe to over 160 mph... the front former has to be ground on the bottom to accomodate larger batteries and some carbon fiber added to reinforce it. It is a blast to fly ! For the price and doing the mods it is right on the money. 2000 kv is a mild setup, making launches difficult if the wind is calm and with a heavy battery. Check out the Rifle thread on the other website...

RE: ys 170 - shutting down
I had exactly the same problem and it was due most likely to a too lean running engine. I cleaned the hole in the head and the injector (needle )with alcohol and carefully applied JB Weld to the needle without getting it in the end and reinserted it. Let it cure at least 24 hours.... Hope this helps...i

RE: Great Planes F-86 Sabre Micro EDF
I saw my friend's F-86 maiden this past Saturday. What a cute lil' plane ! His was extremly tail heavy to the point that it took 1/4 ounce of lead in the battery compartment to make the C.G and after that it flew very nice ! I pulled my doppler app and with dead calm wind it did 29 mph straight and level... Looks like I need to make a trip to my local hobby shop and pick one up !

RE: NSRCA Candidate Rules Proposal Survey is available
Arming switch- although I do not agree on having an external arming device ( looks pretty ugly) I do agree on demonstrating the fail safe feature on a model. I believe this should be a required safety feature at a contest or even the flying field. Why do I say this ? Just the fact that after being a modeler for most of my life, a couple weeks ago I turned off my transmitter without reaizing that my electric 2 meter plane was still on and the batteries connected. It went to full power, rolled fwd 5 feet and hit a model stand, destroying itself in the proccess... It never occured to me to TEST the failsafe. Lost a beautiful plane and thank God that no one was hurt as I always point the nose away from the pits after every flight.
