RE: BH Twister
Ah, i remember my old twister!....had bags of fun with this & i had an OS 46AX initially..then upped it to an AX55 ...silly thing to do!, flew the wings off this for a few seasons until i got a little daft & plowed it into the ground 'from an unrecoverable flat spin'.....i had no problems with the hinged & pinned controls surfaces at all... This will do most manouvers with the utmost ease...you can take off & land this with your eyes closed...honest!, you'll get super~over confident with it...enjoy. Marc.

RE: top flite spitfire build
Hi guys...i just picked up one of these kits the other day at my local model shop, alais i have never built a kit like this before!...but have built probably 100's of airplanes including many ESM warbirds in the past...looks daunting... ..but i'll take my time & do the best i can!. I have decided to seal & paint mine when finished...& will go for the recommended Robart landing gear. I do have an OS 120e..but that's in an KMP Hurricane, looking at a Laser 120 & the advised 91 4~s i should be ok there & also benefit from the hidden exhausts on these marvels. Folks..if mine turns out half as good as your spits i'll be very happy!!.. Regards Marc

RE: Seagull ARF sea fury motor ?
A decent kit this by seagull...i keyed & matt fuel proofed mine & fitted a saito 125a....bags of power for scale flight!!....only negative point was the robustness of the retracts/ wires are really too thin...so perfect landings everytime!..also careful with yours, as you have fitted a much heavier engine!. A vice free flying airplane.

RE: ESM Hawker Hurricane
A superb flying ESM warplane!!...my favourite...no issues really pal, just the usual....pin the tail down for the first few feet etc...bring the power up slowly...apply some right rudder & ease her off leaving terra firma on full power...keep the nose down a little & get in to a nice steady climb...shallow turn & trim her out...then enjoy:). Landing...i always used the flaps...make sure they are as far as they will go!!...these pitch down..bring her down on full brake & moderate power...keep the nose down/ level...no three pointers, sit on mains first....then shut to idle & operate the elev & rudder....in 10 mph winds i still use the brakes..the plane takes some slowing!!....12mph+ no brake. Enjoy your maiden & we look forward to your photos!!!!.

RE: ESM Stuka on its way
Hello Don....I love that plane & very happy with it, i fitted a Crrc pro Gp26R....but i fitted a DLE20CC muffler to it as it was much smaller & narrower...its spinning an 18x6 MA prop & flying dead scale with plenty of power...take-offs are scale & landing is great when the flaps are deployed...slows right down!..just drive it along with throttle management, all up weight is 7..2kg manual says 7.6kg. The wing is huge/depth...& looks awesome in the blue sky!..a no issue build & retracts to set-up & maintain!!. Any more pics just ask...i'll put them here if everyones ok?.

RE: ESM Stuka on its way
No no....what i'm saying is that in the past..my exp with three bladers made my planes fly much quicker!..i switched back to eff two leafs...for a better scale flight...the dle20cc needs a 17x6-8 when its finally broke in...but it does fly very scale & needs nowhere near 3/4 top speed...only key times @ rolls & loops etc...need a trumpet!!

Stuka Barry....yes a three blader looks great sat on show, but tbh once started...who knows whats spinning?..also they are far less efficient. However...i wouldn't mind a 'Jehrico trumpet!!'...

RE: ESM Stuka on its way
The supports under the horizontal stab....i drilled & used 4mm dowl to peg & glue into the fuse & stab...'stronger'. I put a small 'opening' above the fuel tank hole 'firewall' for the throttle & choke linkages....btw the carb is well away from the bulkhead & its an easy install. Tbh you don't really need the 'choke' flap to function...they start real easy & my spit choke flap is dormant...just left open...it fires straight up!..

RE: ESM Stuka on its way
There was no problems with the build...very straight forward, originally with the OS 200s my all-up weight was 6.8kg...i had a glow driver installed etc. Nitro fuel was costing me a small fortune..last summer i was using nearly three gallons on a weekends flying...yeah over £60+ GBP!!. I was so hooked up on the smashing 4-stroke ex-note...lasers, saito's Os's...you name it!..took some time to get over the 2-s note...but i'm fine now with that & fuel usage is great!!.. That Dle20cc muffler is the smaller of the two that J-tec do...best $54?..i spent in the US. Just don't run the dle too lean!!..keep it slightly on the richer side until break-in..'i say slight'...& you all know the rest. Its still gonna kick out oil until its broke in though!![;)]

RE: ESM Stuka on its way
I would'nt think so pal....the stuka's spinning a 16x8 prop....i need to tach it @ WOT ...engines almost run-in, hardly needed WOT when flying...soon i'll swop it out for a 17"x6-8. Hang-on....uploading pix now!!.. Btw...my Stuka is the first...'ESM' with fiberglass wing~!!....my advise, don't bother fitting that dle30cc ...honest, it don't need that 3.7HP monster!!. RE: ESM Stuka on its way
So so true AlanC....infact last sunday i took my fully laden ESM/YT Ju87d '50mm tank busters installed & busy cockpit!!...' to my local field to try it out after i swapped out the really greedy OS200S & i fitted a DLE20CC with a J-tec small wrapp around silencer!!...everything fits inside the cowl & it looks great...just the tiny Spark plug popping out @ the bottom.. A DLE20cc is plenty PLENTY power for this model & it flew great..giant loops & rolls with ease. the DLE20CC is a little 2.5HP marvel!!. I'll pop a pic here if you want to see the engine area?.

Thankyou for those pics steff...looks a top job you have done there, unfortunatley i cannot afford that engine & so decided to go petrol. I would be paying £22.50 for a gallon of nitro...MT propower 16%. I'll miss that scale sound!.

Many thanks Marc
ORIGINAL: PSJDBF I had to make a turning approach to avoid the sun & land my Hurricane on Monday...looked quite scale in the end as I know they use to have a low nose & banking approach on the real deal for vision over the nose. Short vid of the landing, my big wheels require a little more air pressure for the next run I think, I also added a little more weight to the nose & she was a lot more stable on the approach & flair (she was a little pitch sensitive before ). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sjy94e7o52c
Guys...you'll throw a rod with any engine if over-revved for a prolonged time!!... On my ESM spit my dle20 is broke in , & i have to say you need no-where near full throttle most of the time!!..@ a 16x8 prop i'm changing to a 17x6 next time i fly... I'm loving the engine & deeper exhaust note to my crrc fleet. One word...throttle management.

RE: Seagull NEW Supermarine Spitfire AKA Seafire!
About time Seagull produced a Spit...& a Seafire too!....awesome[8D]...shame they opted for shiny covering. Of all the spits i have built,flown...sold eg H9, CML, Kyo..Black H...the one i'm happy with is my YT aka ESM fiberglass Mk-14..it flys very scale & looks very realistic...( wanting the 50cc vers in the future). Now on topic...out of all the artf kits i have built....& that's quite a lot...used all the manufacturers...& the only ones that go together perfectly & are literally a perfect fit are the Seagull models....they are very very well built & put some silly priced kits to shame...aeroworks & pilot RC , where do they get there prices from!?... I was swayed into a 80" Seagull Nemesis...awesome plane & built like a tank...it recomended a 26cc, alais i put in a 50cc!!...gallons through it now & 50+ flights...no stress cracks & no covering bubble yet, i check it after every days flight..its impressive, the landing gear is still in perfect shape..never bent them. Seagull quality is way up there with the best of them. Oh naughty me yesterday decided to see what it was like in a prop hang situation....it passed!!..although its not that type of plane...its a retired racer legend..looks a 1000+mph stood still.

31 years flying?....well.. i guess your man enough to get a feel for a new plane.. in.. what a few minutes of it leaving the ground?... Been fitting new engines in new planes & no-fear testing for three years now...all i do, is check the basics on the ground...prolonged idle & transition etc....range check static & then running...then fly!.. Deadsticks are rare & really with flying experience..esp you..is not a problem my friend :).

RE: GAS Saito
There is a weighty walbro felt clunk that helps....one thing i check more than anything on my gassers is the fuel tank & lines/filters etc.. The tygon line in the tank expands a little over time & needs to be replaced!....recently i replaced a few lines in my planes & noticed the tubing is more flexible..& actually stamped tygon!....warmer weather!?..no not really..as the line removed was much stiffer. I use small ties to make them more secure on the clunk & feed lines...also replace the lines, & replace the stopper at the same time. On the colder days..leaving a little fuel in the tank won't harm, & keep the lines flexible anyway.

RE: Funtana 125 Failure First Flight?? What Happened?
Well..this is easy to see....the airplane is not a 'balls out' racer...its just for low speed 3d..the area of those ailerons would always tear those CA hinges!!...its a sheering action & yes 'flutter' & bye bye Funtana. I'm a scale warbird flyer & even i know that a big engine is only used in something like this to give more control in slow manouvers...not to see how fast it will go!!. Any sports plane needs the CA hinges throwing in the bin anyway & 'proper' hinges to be used...as you don't fly steady & scale do you!..no the planes given 'death' everytime it leaves terra firma!. I just finished an 80" Nemesis...that's an air racer!!...all the hinges were binned & replaced with dubro & Kavan heavy duty hinges!!.. That plane in our country costs over £300!!..ouch & i'm feeling your loss pal..[:o]

RE: crrc 26R-dle20
I have two DLE 20's & two Crrc 26gpr's....the crrc delivers lots more power & at said price is an absolute bargain, that engine also uses superior SKF bearings.. My 26R is in my YT International Aichi VAL an 81" fiberglass dive bomber...swinging an 18x8 prop...it flys the plane super scale & just pulls vertical climbs & GIANT loops with the utmost ease. 7.6KG plane. Lots of folk here said the engine was rubbish..i beg to differ...bags of flight time on mine now...no deadsticks & at over 3.1HP who am i to argue..it is a gem. The DLE20 is a superb engine too...smaller , not much lighter & again...not a single problem with it....100's of flights in a scale 72 spitfire...the other is in an ESM 80" STUKA. Knowing what i know now...i would save the £50 & opt for the 26R...it is a great engine..cm6 plug/RC-exl ignition...quality alloy mount etc etc... I bought one dle from west wales...now i purchase from Boran trading...saved even more . identical goods. My dle's were set really lean from the factory....started up from new straight away...but no revs...just tweaked..now perfect. Same thing the the crrc pro's..exept they were bags too rich...they all need a little running in time & adjustments at first...now all run like sewing machines..& plugs are burning perfect. Any more just ask.....i'm not a sunday flyer & literally cane these engines @ every available flyable day!!...
ORIGINAL: flying.2006 looking for a new petrol engine crrc has got a new 26R is it any good are you flying with one its only £130 but is the dle 20 better as only £180. more do i bye the dle20. £50 more money or go for the 26R crrc as both the engine will fitt my new plane wot 4 XL
RE: Recommend a petrol engine for a Seagull Nemesis 80
Exactly....this is quite a big plane & i know the DLE 30cc...it would be minimum for this plane for sure, ...maybe tootle around...looking at the bulkead its designed for a larger sized petrol anyway...& the 50cc is lost in the huge cowl!!..its all balanced & now i just need to add the livery. A truley awesome legend of an airplane...it looks stunning.
ORIGINAL: PSJDBF From the flights I've seen my mate put in with his DLE 55 I dont think the 30 would cut it, it would most likely fly but would be very restricted in what it could do, will see if I can get some video footage from him ,but the 55 seems like the best cc rating for this bird. RE: ZDZ 40RE...good engine?.
Well, costing more does not necessarily mean they are any better ....take a look at the saito petrol engines...i fly very often & a.m. to dusk is the norm for me.. Cheaper engines are getting very close in the quality stakes now...& do what the dearer engines do & then some. Properly looked after last for years...i have only ever worn out bearings in my 'cheap' dle & crrc engines...they still operate perfectly.
