RE: JETPOWER 2012 products WOW !
The answer is simple ! Use a Jetcat P-20 and a P-300 generator as APU unit ! [:D] I'm going out right now...[8D]

RE: JetCat P90 RXI
P-90RXi and P-100RX are two differents products with two differents way of thinking. The bigger wheels of the P-90 needs less RPM to product the same power than a P-100. P-100 is rated 100N at 154000 RPM ! P-90 is rated 105N at 130000 RPM, my choice is done if my thought is long lifetime of my turbine. P-100 is smaller in diameter and lighter, but P-90 is an all integrated turbine. Only things left external are the battery, the ECU, and... Well, that's all ! For Me, P-100RX is done for those that are searching for performances and lightweight. P-90RXi is done for all rounder RC pilots that only wants a cool jet to fly on sunday without need to have part 66 degree from Safran and Snecma... P-80 is a wonderful engine that is in production for years and still going strong. Derivating a new engine from this one is a great low-cost idea. The results is that this engine is less than 2000€ announced !!! [:)] P-80 is the standard jet beginner turbine, p-90RXi will be a killer to replace this one !

RE: Landing Graupner Inspiration P100RX
More flap is equivalent to more negative washout off your wing. So should not be a problem for tipstall. Less flap means more incidence to fly the plane so more drag so better speed control. But less flaps means also that it will be more difficult to slow down the plane, and in the case you put it nose down on final it will built up speed very efficiently... My way to do is maximum flaps to obtain maximum brake effect. That way speed control is better even with a high level of "iddle thrust / plane weight" ratio. My 2ct.

RE: Tomahawk Futura Build Thread
Please have a look on Ali's video with Jetcat P80, it's far enough for huge performance. Jetcat P100Rx seems to be a killer. I can't understand why people needs to fit a P140RX or even a P160SX in the small Futura ! If you want a fast small jet airplane, please build a Flash ! Futura is a pattern plane, a draggy plane, with moderate speed but trajectories and unlimited aerobatics possibility. It's not made for speed, it's not made for 3D, it's not need a big engine ! As I see how my big 2.50m Futura fly with a simple P160SX, I can't understand why people need a P160SX on the small one... Just "I've a bigger than yours ?" [:D] That's not appropriate ! Who would like to see a Boeing PT-17 Stearman in torque rool ? Who would like to see a F-86 doing a low speed pass with 60° incidence with engine nearly full throttle ? Who would like to sse a Mig 15 taking off in 5 meters ??? I would really like to have a small Futura with P100RX for all week-end flights.

RE: Whats a good first turbine jet?
Your first jet will the one you love and forget all reasonable reason to not spend $$$$$$$$$$$$ in a model airplane. Few things not to do: - Do not by a scale model of a modern fighter but F15, F22, Rafale. Others are too difficult to fly - Do not choose a too little model, their are more difficult to set up and fly - Do not choose it too big, it's too much money and you will be afraid to fly it, so never know how to fly it. Once all this is said, you can choose a pure RC model or a scale model (best are training scale models as real ones are done to learn young mans how to fly a jet.) My first jet is a big Futura and it's a wonderful choice till my bank know I've buy that ! Please don't tell them...[:D]

RE: One Rx or Two???
My idea with the two Rx was : - It cost not so much $ compared to the total price of the jet but my stressless feeling during flight is priceless. - It's not common a Rx fails, but it can lose signal because of a bad orientation. With two Rx and 4 antenae, I have a full 3 axis of antenae covered, plus one vertical in the top side of the plane, the other one under side vertical, inside the fuse. So whatever the orientation of the plane, I maximise the chances to have at least one antena good.

RE: One Rx or Two???
Hello all. Here comes the setup on my big Futura with Fasst Rx inside. 1 powerbox Champion RRS 1 Rx R6014HS (main receiver, main channels to powerbox + accessories on the Rx) 1 Rx R6008HS (spare receiver, only main channels to powerbox) You don't need to have two identical Rx on the PB system. My setup : Channel 1 to 7 are the main flying controls, wich I want redundant : 2 channels elevator, 1 rudder, 2 aileron, 1 flap, 1 engine) + channel 8 for fail safe of RRS. On the main Rx, channel 9 to 14 are accesories channels, wich don't need to redundant and don't need the full power of the powerbox : that is nose wheel steering, the ECU auxiliary, the gear electronic valve, the brake elctronic valve, and next the smoke system. What should I put on the second receiver if it was a R6014HS one's ? Nothing as the Powerbox Champion is only redundant for 7 channels max... My 2 cents... And, no, I've never seen a switch in flight... [:D]

RE: HobbyKing G500 2 x JC P20's
Looking at the size/weight of this model + the size/power of this two P-20, I'm really sure it's overpowered and that you will never be full power outside of take-off ! This model is set for weight of 4.2 to 4.7Kg with twin 90mm EDF. With your two P20 you will have a ratio push/weight aroud 1 or better wich is waaaaay overpowered for a liner style plane ! This is not a speed model, nor an aerobatic model, and even less a 3D model ! This kind of plane is really aerodynamic effective and need really low power to flight and built up speed. It's more like a glider than a Rafale ! I've seen lot's of liner flying with turbine and the good push/weight ratio seem's to be 0.5 and it far more than the "real one's" have to take-off everyday. Most of flight will be done with very low power on the stick to keep the speed in an acceptable value. So flight time will be waaaay longer than the 4 minuts full power. My Jetcat P160SX is rated for 570mL per minut. As I have a 5.2L tank in my Futura 2.5m, I should have 9 minuts full throttle. But currently I have a timer on my transmitter set to 12 minuts and after landing it's common to have 1/3 tank quantity still in the plane... And I'm flying full time aerobatic like F3A routines, not only turn around the field...

RE: Turbo props at Jet meets
My vote is yes because thrust jets and turboprops planes share the sema technology : a turbine inside, burning kerozene. A jet meet in based on the goal to share experience on a specific technology. Here we speak of the very same technology : how to install correctly a turbine in a model and how to securely fly it !

RE: CARF Mig 15 2012 version released!
The old MIG15 CARF is perfectly known to fly perfectly with a 80 class turbine as it was designed for !!! Real MIG 15 are very low powered planes, and with a 80 class turbine, it is over-powered by design ! I've seen some MIG 15 flying, and a 80 class turbine is way enough ! (should be interesting to see it even lighter with a P70 !) Please keep this plane light and with moderate climb rate and moderate speed ! It's a MIG 15 !

RE: Exponential on Elevator?? Is it required on a Bandit.
Setting throw and exponential on a plane (not only a jet nor a Bandit, I mean all planes !) is always a difficult thing to do and way more difficult to understand. What I'm doing on every of my big planes and gliders, that includes my big Futura settings, is that: - Flying the plane with factory setting melted with my experience (not to be surprized...) - Set the throw to obtain desired flying at full deflection of the controls (includes full deflection rools, stall tests with full elevator, knife edge, etc.) - Set the exponential so that plane is flyable smoothly at high speed around neutral position without changing full throw (I'm not fan of dual rate) - Set the CoG to obtain a well balanced plane : nearly neutral is the way I like it, with not huge amount of elevator to obtain inverted flight. Eventually it's also the way to have a good flare without huge elevator throws. Some flights are neccessary to found the correct compromize for all that. My Futura experience : - Factory settings give a forward CoG plane, nose heavy on landing, needing high angle of elevator to land (difficult to flare, not easy to slow down), big amount of elevator for inverted flight, and too much aileron. - Factory setting are very good for somebody flying on large and long runways, wanting a very stable and simple jet to fly. - My CoG had go further back : landings are far better and finally more easy. I'not changed the full throw but changed the expo until I feel in accordance with the plane reactions at different speed. - The plane is more neutral, more predictable at all speeds, more easy to fly aerobatics, especially for very slow rools. The war between guys flying with or without exponetial is the same that the one of those flying Spectrum Vs Fasst ! [:D][:D][:D]

RE: Propeller size for Jetcat SPT5 V3 ?
Thanks to remind me this point. I know Lucien for a long time (first prototype of the turboprop at La Ferté-Alais, and demos of the Tucano). Yes, the Bronco's props are unusually large for a MW44 Wren turbine, and so big diameter... I was thinking of larger propeller for the SPT5 (30x10' or even 32x10' [>:]), as when I see some SPT5 flying with 3-blades 24x12 in "transsonic mode" [:@], I can't think other that "this prop is waaaayyyy too small for this engine !" [:o] What do you think of that ???

Propeller size for Jetcat SPT5 V3 ?
Hi all ! I need some info about the Jetcat Turboprop SPT5 V3. I have some ideas for a future project of turboprop engined plane. This one should be a working plane, not a speed or aerobatics plane, so I don't need speed but high static trust. So what is the propeller size that should be fine for this setup ? I've seen some SPT5 flying (SF260 CARF, or PC21, or Tucano), but always I have the feeling that propeller was too small and huge power not very well used. I've seen the Bronco with twin Wren Turboprop with high size tri-bladed props flying very efficiently. So, what are your ideas and experiences about that subject ?

[:D] Ask to Ali (7 Futura's) or Shroedm who buy a second Futura just after selling the first one (I imagine the Luke Skywalker yell when seiing the buyer go away : "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!
