RE: seagull edge 540 .60-.91 question!
Hey everyone: I have this plane mine has an evolution 1.00 2 stroke on the nose and 5 hitec 5645MG servos and this plane will do every manuver in the book.. I have done hovers non stop and allways at less that half throttle. It's very light and very forgiving if you have the right set up.. Right now i have my balance at 4 3/4 but that's how i like this plane to fly.. If you already know 3d its a good plane cause it flies just like my other 30cc gassers just smaller to transport. Also flat spins are a breeze in this plane Heck i even ordered a 2nd one and currently building it cause i'm going to re-use a Saito 100 twin i have and put it on the nose to see how it handles this plane, should have more power and also look more scale :D

Futaba 7CAP
Hi everyone: I have this radio ever since it came out long ago... Question i have recently i noticed that my LCD display starts to fade away after 3-4 min in flight and will not return if it return after i land and have the radio off for about 5-10 minutes.. I though it was the battery and took the one out of my brand new 2.4ghz 7CAP and tried it out and got the same result... What's causing this? Do i need to send it to someone to get it fixed and how much would it be? The radio doesn't glitch or anythign just the screen starts to fade away till its utterly blank.. Also i heard some people in the club saying that they're installing li-po batteries on these radios, how is it done and doesn't that burn out the radio? I do have a turnigy 11.1v 2300 lipo laying around i'm not using could i use it on my 7cap radios i have?

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
Nope i'm not using a single bolt adapter.. heck didn't even know one existed.. My DLE30's are all stock as they came from towerhobbies where i have bought all 3 i have. And like i said before the only mod i did for this plane is that in the inside part of the firewall before the fuel tank i placed a square [kinda] of 1/4 plywood inside plus the ususal reinforce of lite fiberglass. And the engine sticks out 1 1/4 out from the cowling as you saw on the picture. If it got fixed well guess on later production models cause mine came like that, and don't like weakening the firewall by cutting it. I did notice that the plane [at least mine] the engine and back spinner end up correctly if you used a DLE 30 side carb [which are no longer made] but since i have one i tried it and found the plane was designed around a side carb and not the rear carb like the manual says. But at least i fixed the problem and the plane is flying perfectly as of now. only has 50 flights in.. Ona side note did notice better performance with a falcon 20x6 prop than the 19x8 i use normally on my 30's..

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
Here's the picture i have before i made the modification. I did not cut out or touch the firewall, minus reinforcing the back of it with 1/4 inch plywood and fiberglass. [IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v715/Night_Scream/P1010188.jpg[/IMG] As you can see the engine sticks out 1 1/4 inches out from the cowling so thus i made that modification to hide that from showing cause it looks horrible.. and still surprised no one at the factory that makes this plane has modified or changed this plane to acommodate the DLE30 rear carb like the one they show in their own manual... But oh well i fixed their mistake with a little creativity :D

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
If you mean on how I fixed the problem that the dle 30 sticks out 1 1/4 out of the cowling front.. after a lot of prototypes i used a Huge block of light balsa I had laying around and made a donut which I sanded till it just fit flush with the cowling reinforced with light fiberglass primed and painted till it somewhat matched the color of the plane and installed. That's about it.. thought it took me about 2 weeks till it looked how I wanted..

Thanks.. Well a little ingenuity on my part and some combined knowledge of me and my dad equals we'll come up with something... Fixed the problem and as of now the plane has 40 flights in it and flying perfectly. Maybe for this thursday i'll switch out the break in prop for a xoar 19x8 or a 20x6 falcon.. depends how the weather is..

RE: Airplane rudder gyro
I tried sadly that.... I placed in the end point at 5% for rate mode or on position and in heading hold at 0%... the radio i'm using on that plane doens't have sub trim for the gear channel.... I have this same gyro on another plane that one using a JR 8103 radio and in that one i can fully turn the gyro off just by having its travle inn heading hold at 0% and -15% in subtrim in the gear channel... Question is how do i make this gyro turn off fully using the futaba 6exa.. it was working on that plane flawleslly and now all of the sudden it won't turn off.. even with a rate of 0-5% the heading hold is still active and already cost me a crash thankfully nothing happened thanks to tall grass but i'm stumped on what's going on.... Rate mode works great but i need the other option to be fully off.. since i use the rudder even if minimal during a hover or normal flight and can't be fighting a gyro while flying at the same time....

RE: Airplane rudder gyro
Hi everyone: Well i'm having some problems witht his HK401 gyro.. it was working fine ona plane i had for experimenting.. I took the gyro off it to fix some problems i had in it and installed the gyro back.. as i've seen in the video on how to set up the gyro... I'm using a futaba 6exa radio and a regular 7 chn rx.. which was flying this plane flawlessly... Here's the problem I install the gyro again and have rate mode at 20% and at AVCS(HH) mode it's at 0% exactly like it was flying i think last time... problem is either i haven't used it in a while and forgot how to set this up or i dunno.. In rate mode the rudder moves and re-centers in HH the rudder shouldn't move.. but it still moved.. very little but still moves... will not stick to a new heading since HH has 0% but the rudder still moves if you move the plane to any side.... I though i was imagining it and took it to the field (i know error) and took off with it in HH which i thouhg was fully off and as soon as i was airborne the plane started to get squirrely and would not respond to my rudder inputs or was faster than me.. and crashed landed.. thankfully into a big piece of grass which didn't damage the plane but i unplugged the gyro right there and today been trying to rack my brain what did i do wrong... The plane is a X330 with an evolution 100 engine, rudder servo is a futaba 3004. The limit is at 150 and delay i tried at 0 then 20.. same results Anyone what did i do wrong???

Tried that.. changed all switches to heavy duty, brand new ones (ems,Jr and futaba)... And still the problem came back... No matter which switch I changed be it the ignition or receiver. Allways the glitch returns.. This is really a heck of a glitch won't go away.. Ironically everything I take off that plane and Try it in another works flawlessly. So what's causing the glitch? Basically have rebuild the entire plane in conections and servos..

just steer away from heavy props like master airscrew.. they're too heavy, good cause they outlast a small hard landing but the weigh of them is another part.. Wooden or apc props are what i use and haven't had any complains..

An Un-ending glitch
HI everyone: I have an interesting problem happening in one of my funtana S 90 planes.. Its flying with an RCG 26cc engine from hobbyking and has about 100+ flights in... And recently it has developed this interesting glitch which i have no idea what's causing it.. When you apply full throttle every surface goes haywire, minus the throttle... I have checked all the linkages, extensions, connections to receiver, changed receivers, frequency and switches.. still the same glitch allways appears maybe not right away but 1-2 flights later there it goes again.. I have all my ignitions very well protected like it would be a receiver and all the connections are quite far away from any metal or receiver connection... Question is what is causing this weird glitch on this plane. Its flying using a JR 8103 radio using Spcm 8chn receiver, tried a Zpcm 10chn receiver and also a regulla dual conversion PPM 7chn receiver .. and it does the same glitch in all of them. Help!!

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
Well guys fixed the servo problem... But I dunno maybe cause i bought this plane somewhere else I got the lemon of the pack, cause this one is filled with problems all around.... Wings don't fit right , got a dle that sticks out 1 1/4inches out from the cowling... Canopy don't seal right though that I fixed easily...had a wing screw come glued with epoxy from the factory... So slowly fixing It to be able to fly It... On my opinion if you're gonna buy this plane buy It from Tim, everyone here has gotten lots of help from him and from what I've read he checks the planes before he mails them out.. unlike where I bought It..

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
Hi everyone: I have this plane build and setting up the servos already got the wing ones set and ready.. but been trying to bust my head with the elevator servos.. I'm using 2 hitec 5625mg servos and an ems servo reverser with a JR Spcm receiver on my JR8103 radio. The problem I have is I have both elevator halves neutral and the linkage also dead center like tim said in the video the servos arms are in 90 degree position.. Now when I connect to the servo reverser the servo connected to it has more deflection than the other one.. and if i change the servos vice versa the same thing happens... Been raking my head trying to figure this out and its allways at full deflection when one notices it more.. theres allmost 1/4 inch or so of difference between the 2 halves.. What am I doing wrong???

RE: Airplane rudder gyro
Yeah i have about 45-47 degrees in the rudder.. So then the smaller gain should work on the plane cause i have so much mechanical travel on it... right?

Hi: I have this same gyro i bought fomr hobbyking (HK401B) I have it installed in a Funtana 90 and have seent he video about 7 times and set it up to have the rate mode in low gain and heading hold is off.. Yet the problem i have is... In rate mode the rudder twitches like crazy till you lift a bit the tail wheel from the floor. And also the Limit is controlling how much travel the servo moves in the rudder.. this is a 3d plane so i need full deflection.. But when i tried the plaen in the air the tail starts to fish tail like crazy!!!! I lowered the delay and still does the same.. i had to result to lower the limit and it has stopped it in a sense but now i don't have full deflection on the rudder .. What am i doing wrong???

Well i changed carburators to a brand new one..and had the same result.. It won't turn off via turning down the trim on the engine. I even did it manually, took out the idle screw completely and got the same result the engine won't turn off unless you turn off the ignition switch. I'm extremely frustrated.. The engine turns on extremelyfast and has power but one cannot taxi or land cause it will taxi too fast... New carb.. cleaned the original one in everyway possible and got the same results.. I give up....

RE: Turnigy 26CC
Hi everyone: Well the engine has had quite lot of flights since the parts from octupus r/c and i cannot thank them enought. Sadly the engine this last 2 weeks has been giving me problems which i cannot explain.. It has high, medium and low speed. But the low speed it's extremely high.. and won't turn off unless you switch the ignition off. I've checked and cleaned the carburator entirely twice and still the same result.. it won't reduce its idling speed.. Loosened the idle stop screw, heck took it off and still won't loose speed in idle or even turn the enigne off unless it's by turning the ignition off.. Checked the linkage, servo [i'm on the 3rd futaba 3004] and still nothing.. the engine still stays in high idle that taxis quite fast.. I honesly dunno what to do.. i've checked for air leaks everywhere, and anything else that i can think off be it fact, fiction, makes sense or sounds crazy and still get the same result.. Anybody got any idea what to do? I like the engine but this problem stops me from flying that model..

RE: Airplane rudder gyro
Hi everyone: I have some questions... I live in Puerto Rico and our wind is normally at 15-25mph. And i've been doing or trying to do 3D manuvers for a few years.. specially the hover.. but with these winds or the gusts involved its quite dangerous plus not that controllable specially fighting all 3 axisat the same time.. I've heardand read here that some use a gyro on the rudder and saw the set-up videos. Question i have.. since i would ony turn it on when i'm going to start the 3D manuvers do i have to setup the headig hold on the ground or in the air, if on the air wouldn't a wind gust make it not set up in true center? Also the planes i'm doing 3D are 30cc gassers [funtana 90s and X260] and these vibrate aa lot when they aare on.. does that vibration alsoo bother the gyro?? Thank You
