RE: Just Cant Win
i've been in the hobby for a while,.so im pretty much well seasoned. I have a collection of nitros, from hpi, ofna and traxxas. and this redcat is falling way short. yes i understand they are lower end rcs but when you do all the upgrades they get up there in durability. my traxxas rustler is bone stock, and you would not believe the crap it has been through, and its always ready to go, As far as the nylon nut, it was only used one time. and im not a big fan of using loctite on an m3 thread when your already using a nyloc nut. I totally agree and your right 100% there is alot of up keep and headaches when in this hobby. But there is always a point that you will get to when you say enough is enough! and start considering spending it on another brand than keep dropping it on something that might be a lost cause, I honestly dont even have a whole quart of fuel ran through this buggy yet! Next time your at Ed's ask him if he carries any parts for these redcats and see what he says lol or pretty much anyone else around here that is reputable when dealing or working on nitros. Im either having to make my own parts or wait a week and a half to get them from A.Z.

Just Cant Win
Out of curiousity i was wondering if anyone else has encountered the same problems. I have had nothing but bad luck with my tornado s30. since the first day i recieved this buggy it has been a nightmare. between the broken parts and tuning there is no time to enjoy it at all. The first day i had it out i ended up breaking the front arms and losing the breaks and a dogbone. So i upgraded with the "hop up" kit. I get it back out there, and it starts throwing one of my wheels off because the nylon lock nuts are not worth a crap. so that eventually costed me a set of wing stays. So instead of buying a new set i made some out of aluminium, and put them on. The very same day i get it back out and start driving it around the yard and guess what..... The clanking and grinding starts,,, yep there goes the damn spur gears, eat all to hell and back. (yes the gear mash was set) So i upgraded to the single speed tranny and 13t clutch bell from himoto. (in which i gotta recommend to anyone with the 2 speed set up, its a nice beefy upgrade!) Anyhow i slap it all back together thinking i got this ready to roll now! and now the carb is hanging up, so i figured i would go ahead and clean it. I pull it all apart,,,, its not dirty,,, the spring is broken! I got a buddy of mine that just closed his hobby shop, so i gave him a call and luckily he had spring out of a brand new carb off of a volcano s30 he hooked me up with it. So here again i get it installed and start tuning it. and tuning and tuning, finally get it where i want it.. then my radio takes a dump, LMAO what the hell??? Im pretty much past the point of getting angry, i call it my viper cause there is more shop time than drive time. its to the point i'm going to sell this thing for the cost of the hop up kit and tranny, im done dropping money in this tornado!

RE: My first Redcat Review
the secret to breaking loose red locktite it applying heat to melt it off the screws. Its no match for a butane lighter torch.. just be careful not to hit any plastic parts in the process

Yea I Know, I bought it for my son as a birthday present and he never got to use it, I was set off and guess rubbed the wrong way at the wrong time.....Any how,, REDCAT DID CONTACT ME and said that they would take care of the problem! So I can not bash them one bit. That gets alot of respect out of me for taking care of their customers like that. That is how you assure a successfull business!!! As for the upper arm, i cannot get the pics uploaded in here, but the housing around the suspension pin broke .

RE: My first Redcat Review
ORIGINAL: rchobbyunlimited He is to funny he said "i didn't have a crash, just a roll over" hell that is a crash wheels in the air and the car was desigin for the wheels on the ground. Its obvious he didn't check everything the brake came will not vibrate loose and it was checked and tighten. In the roll over when he was upside down you could have easily broke the brake came which made it vibrate out. He paid $200.00 for a rtr nitro car but he says he has losi and HPI which they brake also but he does not want to fix this one after it broke but he only has $200.00 in it? That really does not make any since.
Im sorry man, i didnt realize you were standing next to me when this shit happened. So since you know exactly what happen please fill me in....But i guess i have nothing better to do than come in here and shoot you a line of bullshit , dont let my post count pin me as a noob. i"ve been in the hobby for awhile. Bottom line,,, Your the one that is "too funny" who has nothing better to do than troll a thread and try to make someone out to be a dumb shit.

RE: My first Redcat Review
]yes i checked it over and they moved freely without any binding and there wasnt any problems with throttle while running it. i dont have any pics but i did manage to find the linkage after looking for about 30-45 minutes. Like I stated before, it just rubs me the wrong way on how it just vibrated out like that. My losi or hpi's never had any problems like this what so ever. Im just cracking up now cause Im remembering the video on youtube titled "Are Redcats Durable" "http://www.youtube.com/embed/WABjGjk61pI"

RE: My first Redcat Review
I went thru the whole car and tightened everything before i ran it. everything was good to go. I didnt hit anything to lose the brake cam, and i didnt have a crash, just a roll over, thats why it had me so pissed off. I've had a few r/c's and i feel like it should have held up alittle better. I'll admit alot of frustration was coming out in my post when i said i wasnt gonna repair it, but you said it correctly, it sure isn't fun repairing something new.

My first Redcat Review
Well Fellas,,, I felt the need to inform you all on my experience with my first redcat.. I finally got my redcat tornado today. got the engine broke in and everything seemed like everything was going good. the car had alot of power and handles excellent. I was really surprised! Now for the bad. I honestly feel like i just threw $200 in the fire! Not trying to blast anyone else so I will be fair here and say that this particular buggy I got is a pure piece of CRAP!!!! Im so damn disgusted right now I probably wont even try to get this crap fix because i feel like i have already been taken! Somehow the Brake bar vibrated out and the brakes failed!!!! well you guys know that speed and no brakes dont mix. Im now sitting on a 3 hour old car with a missing break bar, busted front upper arm, and a messed up dog bone, (which broke during a low speed roll on flat grassland) Come on Redcat!! I thought you made durable R/Cs!! What happened??? This is dispicable!!!

RE: heard lots of bad stuff about Redcat....BUT
I have been going through alot of videos and reviews of redcat rc's. They even make it clear in some of the videos that they are not out to try to take over the industry, That they are more about introducing the rc hobby to "new comers" and to get them involved and and spark new interests at a less painful and affordable price range
