Nitro Rustler value
Hello all, I haven't posted on here in a very long time. I am slowly getting out of the RC hobby as I am going to start college so I was thinking of selling my Rusty. However, I don't know if its worth selling or not or at least how much I could list it for. Here are the specs on it: Original Nitro Rustler that came with the .15 Current mods: -OS .18 CVRX 11J Rotary carb engine

RE: Building a wing, need some advice.
I got them all glued in and everything is the way its suppose to be. I also got the sheeting done on one side, I'll have to continue tomorrow.

RE: Building a wing, need some advice.
ORIGINAL: planebuilder66 perpendicular to the spar, grain going vertical from the wing panel being level, the issue your talking about is do the shear webs go vertical in conjunction with the diheadral, not really, just build the wing 1/2 on the board and put the grain vertically to the sparbeing horizontal. you'll be fine, does it really matter, no but it's standard building practice to make them exactly parallel to the ribs.
I'll try to get them as center as I can on the lower spar and top notch. Thanks.

RE: Building a wing, need some advice.
ORIGINAL: w8ye When the wing front to rear center line is horizontal as the airplane is flying, the top and bottom main spars are vertically over each other. Therefore the webbing when centered on the bottom and top spars is vertical. On the plans take note of the cross sections of the wing at W1 & W2 and notice that the webbing is centered on each of the 3/16 X 3/8" spruce spars also note on the plans about the middle of the right wing there is a shadowed cut away that shows the shear webbing centered on the spar Picture #4 in the wing construction section of the booklet depicts the proper installation procedure. Notice to the right of the picture that the installed web is setting on the center of the lower spar and is centered with the notch for the top spar.
Correct. If I put the webbing center on the lower spar and center it on the notch for the upper spar, the webbing does not sit vertical. So what I am getting from what you are saying is put them at the angle of the wing and spars. Once the plane will be in the air, they will be vertical?

Building a wing, need some advice.
Hello all, I started to build the win for my Sig Four Star 40, and I am at the point where I am putting in the Shear Webs between the ribs. I got all of them sanded down to the proper fit, however, the instructions say that they should be centered on the lower spar and the notch for the upper spar(on the rib). If I get them to be centered on both, the shear does not sit vertical. So the question is, do they have to sit vertical or are they suppose to be slightly at an angle with the ribs? The booklet does not say anything being vertical. Thanks.

Buiding preperations-work area
Hello all, I am going to be be building a Sig Four-Star 40. This is my second plane to build, my first one being a Great Planes PT-40 Trainer. I have been looking around for some type of board I could place down on my table so I could pin down pieces if need be. I know that I need something rigid because I do not want a crooked wing in the end! What are some things you guys use? I looked at some ceiling boards at Home Depot, but they are either to big or to small. Any help is appreciated.
ORIGINAL: jatoracing33 ok...i have carb cleaner. do i need to keep it from geting inside the engine or wont it matter?
You don't want anything to get into the engine. I usually use paper towels and plug the air in take and the exhaust port. Then spray the engine to clean it off. I don't go crazy with it since it can remove paint and such, but i never had the anodized from the head come off. If you don't have an anodized head than don't worry about it coming off. My brothers Maximum st has a non-anodized head and carb cleaner works wonders.

Nice pics. Do they not make a 360 stinger for the GT2? I know i had it on my Rusty but i got tired of it. I don't mind the oil...and to clean something like the engine, carburetor cleaner is your friend.

My Nitro Rustler lives again
AS the title says. The .15 it used to have started to act up. Had a few good runs with it, but well....pics speak for themselves. They aren't great but eh... I had to make a tranny brace, since the old one didn't fit with the big engine and it wouldn't work right. This one prevents the tranny from flexing. There isn't any flex anymore. RE: glow plug problems
ORIGINAL: davidgeorge212 I have a glow plug problem too. I have a hobbico aerostar 40 trainer with a .46 OS engine in it. The last few times I flew it I noticed the power was dramatically decreased and it even cut out one time and I had to dead stick land it. When I got to looking at the motor I noticed I could unscrew the glow plug by hand. I tighten down the glow plug with a wrench so it is pretty tight when I take it up, it some how keeps working its way loose when its in the air. Does anyone have a solution to why it does that. Should I just lock tight the glow plug in? Thanks David G.
Wrong forum but do you have the copper washer installed? As for the original topic, use a glow igniter not the stock ez-start one. See if that changes anything. If not try changing plugs.

RE: Best Stadium truck
Nitro Rustler is a great truck, you just have to know its limits just like every other truck. I jump mine at least 5ft in the air and have bad landings at times and no broken parts yet(knock on wood). Well i do have upgraded a-arms and things like that but still a great truck. Only problem is WOT you have almost no steering.[:@]

OS .18 + new header=?
I have a Nitro Rustler(pro.15 version) and am about to put in an OS .18 CV-R into it. I know there will be some modifications done, which i got all sorted out. I will be getting a new tuned pipe and header(not sure which yet). My question is will the header clear the big recoil? I am going with a side exhaust so that is why i am asking. Or i shouldn't be worrying about the header clearing

RE: OS 18 Tm Problems
Sounds like an air leak. You will need to tune the engine just a little everyday you run because the weather does change and so does the tune. My friend has an OS.18 and it needs to be tuned slightly every day.

RE: y wont it start?
Make sure to prime the engine just a little before starting. Then put the glow plug igniter on and try to start it. Sounds like you are flooding the engine. Also if that doesn't work try leaning out the fuel mixture like stated above.
ORIGINAL: REDisFASTER Over-prime by 'just' a bit. It usually solves the problem with my GT2!
I am replacing the engine with an OS .18. I know it will fit in the mounts for the pro.15 just i need to file down the mount near the recoil and a little near the flywheel. It isn't much because near the flywheel the pro.15 has a small clearance so a little filing will give enough clearance. The recoil will take a bit of filing but it will be fine. I will however need to figure out a way to keep the front end down[>:]

Hard start
I have a TRX Pro.15 and its a pain to start. It runs well once i get it started. I have it set to run 220F degrees, plenty of blue smoke. Accelerates well and top speed is great, but starting is another story. Could the starting issue be my glow plug? I doubt it is but could be a possibility. I have some OS 8 plugs just in case maybe i should try those?

RE: engine break in
Sounds like you got. Just make sure to get the engine hot because the heat makes the piston and sleeve wear in. Without the heat you will put more damage on both the piston and sleeve. Also after break in, try getting the engine to run between 215-230. I have mine running at 220 and seems to be a good tune.
